What is the best European city/country for Americans to go live for a year or two?

I work remote and am thinking about going to live in Europe for a year or two. What are the best cities and countries to go live?

I'm looking for a place that is:
1) safe
2) friendly towards Americans
3) not full of third world migrants
4) affordable
5) allows easy to travel to other European countries

      Finland unironically

      I'll look into these.

Albania, but we all know you are just larping

Not exactly known for being safe or having easy access to the rest of Europe.

      Vladivostok

      Haha.

I'm also looking for a place where I can reasonably get a visa that will allow me to stay for at least a year.

Just did 6 months in Warsaw, was cash. Half the city is kinda weird and boring, and the other half is affordable and fun with young people. Lots of history if that's your thing. But the craziest part, and what I didn't expect, is how fucking clean it was compared to my expectations. Genuinely German city level of clean. And the quality of food vs price. Just a good time all around, and cheap as fuck. I think you need to go soon before the bubble pops, Poland is a leech off the EU for subsidies; eventually it will be expensive like any other first world.
If you dont like big capital city, Wroclaw is my favorite polish city, and Gdansk was cool too but a bit isolated, but if you like a port city it's nice.
For context I'm Irish from Dublin living in Atlanta, and I'm moving to Reykjavik for work next month

This is not a thing that is available to you in the Schengen area. You get 90 days visa-free as a Yank then have to buzz off out of the area for 90 days. Best you could do is 90 days anywhere in Western Europe, 90 days somewhere else (Serbia, Romania), 90 days back in the Schengen countries, 90 days out again. UK will let you in for six months, the aforementioned Albania for a year. But other than these, the poster above is right when he says Europe is full. Even long-stay visas are usually only good for 90 days at a time unless you’re working or studying.

Hungary offers a digital nomad visa for up to two years.
    >1) safe
    Very
    >2) friendly towards Americans
There are big bronze statues of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush in the square in front of my office.
    >3) not full of third world migrants
Hungary literally built a wall while the eurocrats in Brussels whined and pissed their pants about it.
    >4) affordable
    Yes
    >5) allows easy to travel to other European countries
Wizz Air's home base is Budapest. Hungary also has excellent highways and is in a convenient location for taking road trips to the Balkans and Eastern Europe.

Oh look, the countries with high crime are directly related to the amount of third world trash in them... who'd have known?

You're not getting residency in most European Union countries unless you apply for a digital nomad visa or have actual educational qualifications and in-demand skills.
