100% this. I get upgraded to first on 95% of my flights and it's free. The secret is to fly out of an airport that doesn't have shitloads of people with status aka don't fly out of big hubs. Fly to smaller airports and then connect to the regular destination 30 minutes away.
pretty much. just about to reach virgin's gold level
basically I get lounge access and priority boarding (so you get ahead of the plebs trying to stuff 3x 'carry-on' sized cases in the overhead) and also few other perks. will make life a lot nicer even if I mostly travel in pleb class

lmao I'm an Alaska 100k which is
when I fly on BA in F I get:
Class Base Bonus RDM EQM
F 100% 400% 500% 300%
but multiply the RDM by 1.75 for status bonus.
Pretty based ngl. Plus I can status match to gold since they seem to allow status matching for oneworld partners.
Poorgays often post shit like this. They don't understand the idea that spending extra on a business class ticket is not taking away from anything else.
Almost $900, Los Angeles to Osaka. Stopped in Vancouver on the way.
As a poorgay myself, I can't imagine spending another thousand dollars just to be comfy on a short flight. That could be at least 1500 cans of food to store at home, or another week of food and lodging somewhere else.
That being said, I'd like to be wealthy enough to not care about money like that, but for now I'm incapable of it.
pic rel. used to paying just $900 for FC but fuel, inflation, and everyone wanting to fly suddenly drove prices up to frick you levels.
Cost of miles hasnt increased yet so with my status, i basically get a free flight later in the year due to the higher prices.
$2K for a business flight from Chicago to New Delhi. Best value was $800 for a Qatar Airways business flight from Lahore to Chicago, had a bunch of credits from the pandemic.
600$ - montreal/lima round trip.
Company paid a ridiculous 1200$ montreal-toronto exec round trip for me to watch a stupid training video there. I was with a higher up that knew how to rig the game, and got us this royal treatment.
It wasn't my money (business trip), but it was close to $2500. This was for economy class seats & 4 layovers. The number of hours spent in those layovers had a combined total of almost an entire day (I think it was like 22 hours and some change).
Shitty tickets like that are usually supposed to be rock-bottom dirt-cheap. But they fricked it up this badly. Whoever was in charge of booking flights at my workplace really dropped the ball on this one.
$6,000 first class from Tokyo to New York. It was certainly worth it. The stewardesses really treat you differently in first class and business class. I think it helped that I was the only male in his 20s there, everyone else was old enough to be my grandfather.
I think the more interesting question is how cheap have you got business & first upgrades.
The most I've ever paid for a ticket was $1800 but that was for a year long rtw ticket that took in Europe,India, SEA, OZ, NZ, and LA.
Since then I've flown business & first for either free or very cheap "upgrade"
1500 dollars
Work paid for a full-fare Y for $3000, instant upgrade to domestic first class
what do you do for a living?
>domestic first class
>$3000
That's moronic
>work paid
brainlet
Yes, but when you're able to book domestic FC starting at $400, $3000 is moronic.
where are you seeing domestic first class RT at $400 these days? and I don't mean 1-2 hour flights
>and I don't mean 1-2 hour flights
I'm based in Dallas. All my flights in the US are about 2 hours.
I've never bothered pricing out transcon flights.
$4500, premium economy MEL > LAX
worth every damn cent
you can just tell this 'persons' width took up 3 seats and only paid for one
Imagine being uncomfortable for just a few hours and then blowing thousands on shit you actually want to do. Neck pls.
>be uncomfortable for a few hours and never gain status
>spend extra, be comfy, and gain status after 2-3 flights.
Status ? But who fricking cares about that holy shit
Pleb detected. High status is everything and makes flying a lot more enjoyable.

imagine not caring about status and pissing away all those potential miles.
But I do care so i will enjoy my 9 miles for every dollar spent.
What is this 'status' you are talking about, it sounds like some sort of airmiles reward program?
Take BA as an example:
https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/tiers-and-benefits
At the gold tier you get to use first class checking/lounge even when flying cattle class, award miles multiplier, extra luggage allowance, and so on.

may every flight you take be stuck next to someone like this
I start crying after paying £150. Then again I only fly around Europe and it's periphery.
I've been spoilt massively by cheap flights. My entire life you can basically follow by the Wizzair network.

About 6k euros. Business class was about 5k and first was 6k so I figured why the hell not.
Money well wasted
2k usd.
Believe it or not, it was a business flight from Brazil to Japan through Europe.
Brazil -> Portugal -> Germany -> Russia -> Japan. Shit took 5 days in total kek, but I had lounge access and all so it didn't matter.

I thought SighSee is full of BTC millionaires. Who the frick is buying all the 10K first class tickets then?
>e to do
2500 business to tokyo, pandemic.
worth it, unlimited rebookings 🙂

Did you pay for the ticket or did your parents

dunno, few thousand £ maybe
Germany -> turkey
120 euro
$1400 Detroit > Tokyo RT direct
$800 one way to Minsk to escape lockdowns. That was my worst.
$2400 round trip from Alaska to Miami.
why? moron
$700-800? For both ways, I'm not that rich
1300 for japan.
