What state in USA has the best food and why its Louisiana? Posted on April 18, 2023 by Anonymous What state in USA has the best food and why its Louisiana?
It has to be Texas, and I say it as a Floridian. The BBQ is world class. Plenty of beaners still know how to make a mean fucking taco. Ever been to the Texas State Fair? They make some absolute monstrosities for carnival food but holy fucking shit is it delicious. I can't go this year because I'm mongering during that month, but if you haven't been, it's worth it if you're a cringe "foodie".
Texas doesn't even have the best BBQ kek
Texan and I agree. Probable bias. I will say that Louisiana next door has amazing food and drink bc obviously Cajun shit is amazing but no state tops us
If you like Memphis style BBQ (pork instead of beef) this is a subjective opinion I will disagree on you with but can’t hate you for. If it’s North Carolina style you mean with that watery vinegar heavy sauce you call “barbecue sauce” then rope yourself
I would also like to add that Texas has some of the best beer. Where my fellow Shiner enjoyers who dunk on Coors and Bud fags?
The fact you didn't even mention Kansas City BBQ shows how ignorant you are about this subject. I do love Shiner though
I moved from the east coast and I live in southern California now. The Asian food here is amazing. You can get better Thai food here than in Thailand. But California has the absolute worst Pizza, the worst BBQ and worst seafood you'll ever eat. I've never found a single pizza that was even passable by east coast standards. I did find one single BBQ place an hour away in Azusa that was good, but it took 10 years and countless bad meals to find it.
I've given up looking for any restaurants in California unless they serve Thai, Vietnamese, Jap or Korean food.
The correct answer to the state with the best food is Maryland. I'll take a Maryland crab feast or a a Maryland Crabcake sandwich over any other meal.
I had to double check- from the mideast and have said the same things verbatim...woah
>I've never found a single pizza that was even passable by east coast standards
There are a few places in LA, Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock
Casa Bianca is a pass from me. This shit looks like a frozen tombstone pizza from the dollar store.
I don't think it north east tier but Vito's pizza in Santa Monica is the only pizza I've had in LA that isn't trash
>Vito's pizza in Santa Monica
🙂 Looks almost passable. Thx for the recommendation. I'm going to check it out. I'll return the favor. There is a place in DTLA called Pizzeria Bianco. It's been on my bucket list for a while. They have a legit pizza oven, handmade dough and sauce. People I trust from the east coast have said good things.
California has the best in America. You can get some of the best of every culture in socal. Nowhere else in America has that quality of Asian and Pacific islander food, even Hawaii
Sure, unless you like BBQ, Seafood or Pizza. Which I do. Finding anything that's decent and not Asian is difficult.
I keep a list of the restaurants that I like in Orange County Ca. You'll notice a theme with the first 10.
Sup Noodle Bar
All that BBQ Korean
Panini Kabob Grill
Din Tai Fung
Haidilao Hot Pot
>unless you like BBQ
You list a BBQ place in your first 10. SOCAL has the best Korean and Japanese BBQ in America.
You must be from California or you would know better. I love Korean and Jap BBQ. But American BBQ is a whole other category of food. LA and OC both have strict rules about smoking meats unless you use a really expensive scrubber system to clean the air, so almost no one smokes meat out here. It's rare to see any California restaurants using a charcoal grill unless it's for a festival.
If you go to Vegas, you can go to Hachi or Viet Noodle House and they cook everything on bamboo charcoal. Or you can go into San Bernadino or Riverside Counties and find a few places that cook real American BBQ. But you won't find it in LA, OC, San Fran, or Marin county.
>Backtracking to specify something different than before
No one considers Riverside or San Bernadino to be part of southern California. Socal is LA, OC and San Diego. Also, you sound like a moron with autism.
of course all that is socal, inland empire, palm springs, even the borrego desert of san diego county.
Nah. We call that the Inland Empire. Socal is LA, OC and SD.
Inland Empire is So Cal. It's one of the parts of So Cal. The others are Ventura County, LA Metro area, Orange County and San Diego county. I guess Imperial county gets to participate too.
You have to get out to like Barstow or Adelanto before it starts feeling like that now. Victorville has turned into another huge strip mall city like all the others in So Cal.
Hard disagree. VC, Santa Barbara, and all the way up to SLO are strictly Mid Cal and have their own unique culture and atmosphere. The Oxnard plains being a solid 15 degrees cooler in summer vs LA is testament to that.
LOL. You must live there. Sounds like a classic case of PTSD. Literally no one else thinks that Riverside and San Bernadino are nice places to live. The Inland empire is white trash and illegal immigrants. They have all of the crime of LA, but with none of the amenities, sports teams, museums, beaches, theme parks or luxury.
I'm not familiar with the area, do people actually say inland empire in normal conversation there or is it just something you read in like articles?
let me put it to you this way; a certain wealthy part of the 909 literally petitioned to get their area code changed to 949 because being a 909'er had such a stigma attached to it and they didn't want to be a part of it.
When we talk about the people who live in Riverside and San Bernadino, we just say "Mexicans".
this dude is right
the 909 isn't SoCal. its an entirely different culture/vibe. I think Corona is about as far out into the desert you could go and still call it SoCal, maybe. Everything east of that is Tweekerville and Methodonia.
You think LA druggies are bad. Nah man, 909 tweakers are preternaturally resilient.
Literally nobody says this shit you fucking transplant redditHipsters
I consider everything south of Fresno to be southern california
maybe those cities should do something to put themselves on the map cuisine wise
sure there's good stuff there but why go out the way when LA has it
Gyu Kaku is a nation wide chain restaurant, and low quality at that. Surely you can find better jap bbq
Gyu Kaku in Huntington beach has good food. But we used to go for the all day happy hour on Mondays. I haven't been in years. They used to do $2 Lychee Martinis and Saketinis. I dare you to have a bad time after 6 or 7 of those. It was the best deal in the county. I stand by my list.
True, the happy hour can't be beat, especially for NYC prices. Nonetheless it is still the McDonald's of jap bbq
Orange County is a lot of chain strip mall trash compared to LA and SGV, but I used to live walking distance to Gyu Kaku and they had $1 sapporo drafts. Also had cheap poke way before it was trendy. They never carded my 19yo gf so it was always our date spot.
Having said that there is way better korean BBQ in Ktown. Koreans like american KBBQ better because we get cheaper, better beef. Sushi here is great also. LA has great mexican food and so does San Diego.
BBQ in socal is overpriced so we got a smoker at home. Lots of good pizza places and even 'bad' pizza is good... it's not a food to judge a region by.
Favorite things I've had outside california:
Broiled Oysters- New Orleans
Anything in China Town - Las Vegas
Halal Cart food and Curry Lamb Noodles - NYC
Grocery Store Poke - Hawaii
Fresh Cheese Curds - Utah
Sadly never had BBQ in Kansas City or Texas even though ive been to both several times. On my to-do list
>Anything in China Town - Las Vegas
Vegas China sucks bro, is this the only one you've been to or something? Very naive
I grew up with SF chinatown my entire life. The food in LV chinatown is really good, and a great mix. It's where all the chinese tourists go in LV.
Just because Chinese tourists go there doesn't mean it's good. That's where the tour bus takes them. They are all newly rich peasants who eat steamed dough with a raw scallion back home. They don't know shit about food. You have to leave the tourist areas to get decent food.
Name a good pizza restaurant in Orange County. I lived here for 14 years and I've never found one. If you've lived in OC all your life, you wouldn't know any better. Ask anyone from the east coast.
You can get good BBQ pretty much anywhere in the south. Anytime you see a dude on the side of the road smoking meat in the south, you're about to have a great fucking meal.
I wasn't defending the OC. I'm in LA and never go to OC for food. I actually can't think of a single place ive been to in OC that I'd be itching to go back to, but I'm normally with boomer parents or at disneyland while I'm down there.
Asian food is disgusting tbh
If all you know is Panda Express at the mall in rural Oklahoma, you'd be right to think that Asian food sucks. Most places in the US don;t have good Asian food. That's one huge bonus about California.
But these fuckers out here put fucking cornmeal on the bottom of the pizza. No one knows how to mix dough. And they use plastic cheese. This fucking monstrosity is the highest rated pizza joint in my city in California. Serve this in New York and you'd literally have to fight someone.
That actually looks kinda tasty
That pizza looks good to me. Just a different style.
>t. New Yorker
They put cornmeal on the bottom of the crust to keep it from sticking. They spray the pans with basedbean oil . The sauce is canned. The mozz cheese is the cheapest knockoff brand they can find. And the parm is that dry shit from a salt shaker.
No good pizza, no good Italian at all for that matter.
It's clearly Washington state
Hawaii by far.
St.Louis, Chicago, and Dallas got some good food. I had on of the best breakfast in Indiana too. New England and Florida got some good fish. Only place I didn't like was in Washington.
where at in indiana?
Dallas has it all. Fancy and upscale steakhouses, dirty hole-in-the-wall burger joints that probably violate health code but serve the best greasy burgers, the best ramen I’ve had worldwide at a place called Ten in downtown owned as a side project by some famous Japanese boomer chef, a KILLER pizza place called Greenville Avenue Pizza Company, amazing TexMex anywhere you go and not only that but you can get real authentic Mexican Mexican food without looking hard, good Louisiana style Cajun Hispanicy shit is served at places that will dump huge baskets of crawfish in you, seafood might be lacking by comparison but Lovers Lane Seafood Market and restaurant I really enjoy and it’s not like fresh fish can’t be caught nearby, and I don’t have much of a sweet tooth or pastry craving but I bet you can find good ice cream or cake shops or whatever. Now I do know of places that serve good Russian/Eastern European food (but just a few) and some good gnomish places, but don’t know if any Middle Eastern ones because I don’t eat that anyway. Plenty of good local fried chicken places that take the difference between Chick Fil A and McDonald’s but multiply that factor by 100. Don’t know any French cuisine places either but I’m sure they exist. Would love to be going to a swanky steakhouse tonight but ordering in from Campisi’s on Mockingbird which used to be a mafia hangout in the late 69d and early 70s. Interior is like a Time Machine. So based
Dallas would literally be below Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Lockhart in Texas alone
Shit retards say. Tell us another one.
Sounds about right kek. No Texas would say Dallas has the best food it Texas. Also you need to be 18 to post here
Dallas AND Fort Worth, also Denton >
Then Austin, followed by a tie of San Antonio and Houston. Each have merits
But real TxChads know that Corpus Christi is the home of Whataburger so it is technically the only universal answer
Kek and Galveston has the best rainforest cafe.
>Zoomer has no bearing on the conversation
Many such a cases
Fucking Galveston. Best beaches globally! Haven’t been to that Rainforest Cafe though!
I'm absolutely certain you're not even here legally, ESL.
If not for the Hispanics being paid under the table below minimum wage white losers like you would be doing dirty work. I love my Mexican yard workers. They don’t complain about everything while siphoning off of tax payers and they bring appreciable culture, good work ethic, and attractive women
I'm so fucking tired of liberals invading this state, holy fucking shit.
I hate morons and prefer Mexicans because they’re pretty much slaves with how little they’re paid. And I was born here. What’s your point, gay?
You know the Mexicans that actually go through the system to become legal residents do the same shit you mentioned right? Please shut the fuck up and go back to California.
Most Mexicans are border hoppers supplying us with weed or hot Latinas. Stay mad. You’re jealous and projecting because you likely moved here from Oklahoma
>Zoomer who knows nothing of Texas or food in America
>I was born in shitty ass fucking Midland
No wonder you're retarded and don't know what you're talking about
Please stop posting.
Yeah to old oil money and moved to the Park Cities when I was 3. Ate 5 star steaks every Friday at a high end place with my parents until I moved out. And I’m not talking Ruth’s Chris and Saltgrass. I’ve inherited a massive ranch in central Tx with modern accommodations and something tells me you’ve never shot a gun your whole life. Go to New Mexico or Arizona, you nog
>Literally just writing a Diary entry
Sad you need to do all this because you got called out for knowing nothing about Texas food. Sader that you'd think Dallas is anywhere near the top of the U.S let alone Texas
We're two different people. I'm the one who knows you're 22 with no life experience and full of dogshit opinions as a result.
Yet to know more about Texas than you? If you think Dallas has the best food in the U.S let alone in Texas you know absolutely nothing. You're a zoomer with no bearing on what you're talking about
I'm going to bed ESL bro, we can continue this tomorrow. Take care and God bless Texas.
>Dallas has the best food in America
Imagine being this naive. Not only do you have no experience with America, you're a little boy who knows nothing of your state. Lockhart with 14,000 people has better food than Dallas. Sleep tight zoomer, I know it's 9pm in Texas and mommy is putting you to bed
There’s like 5 Texans in this thread and none of you are consistently replying to the right posts. Yeehaw
Both me btw
Imagine being this wrong. What are you going to say, San Antonio has better Mexican? Houston has a lot of good authentic Vietnamese? Dallas has all the Texas staples as well as good variety. I would say Austin personally but there is very good food all across the DFW metroplex. I say this as a non-native who is in Texas frequently for work
>Dallas has acceptable places to eat in it's sprawl
Wow what a glowing review in a thread about the best food in America
I can't imagine writing something like this out to try and impress anonymous people kek.
Please post more bro, you made me laugh. NO TEXAS WOULD SAY BEST FOOD IT TEXAS. lmao
Idiot grammar and wrong. Unlike most people I’m not a California escapist. I was born in shitty ass fucking Midland. And I’ll reiterate: DFW has the best food in this state. Sorry, correction - the country. Maybe the whole damn world
California or NY.
For me it's New Mexico. I fucking love southwestern cuisine
The reason why California has a lot of bad restaurants is because every cook is from South America. What does some beaner from Guatemala know about Memphis BBQ?
>What does some beaner from Guatemala know about Memphis BBQ?
It clearly isn't Utah. Food here is total garbage. Not a single decent restaurant besides a steak house. Mormon culture, like their food, is bland and boring.
I was given a "mormon cookbook" and it was literally all white bread and other carbs and canned ingredients dumped together and baked. Shit meant to feed a family of 9 on a tight budget.
Louisiana is a good choice but it's probably SOCAL
> Best Italian
> Best seafood
> Decent sushi
> Ok bbq, but you really gotta look for it
> Ok tex mex
> Great Vietnamese
> Good Thai
> Great Indian
> Decent middle eastern/Mediterranean
> Great Brazilian
You should take a trip to Houston. Unironically the best food scene in the country.
Michigan by a wide margin. Gotta love those ham sandwiches. If you're feeling a little crazy, you can Hispanice it up with some mayonnaise.
Sides officially in orbit thanks
Depends on what you want to get. Asian food? California. Mexican and BBQ? Texas. Cajun food? Louisiana hands down. If you want to go with overall options then obviously New York because of NYC.
Like others have said, the food in OC isn't great overall unless you want Asian. If you're into Asian food, it would be impossible to get a bad meal at Tsuruhashi in Huntington Beach. Go look at the photos on Yelp. That place is god tier. We had friends from Japan come stay with us and they said it was as good as the best places they had back home.
It's not, it's easily New Jersey by a long shot.
