What's stopping me from selling everything I own and just traveling around the USA. I'm 30. I have a full time, good, salaried job and a business of my own. If I were to sell everything but keep my vehicle I would have roughly $80,000 in my pocket.
Living as a vagabond almost sounds like a dream. Has anyone ever done this?

I have 10 days vacation, sure. That is not enough time to determine if I want to do this or not. I'm just going to commit once my grandmother dies.

Nah, motorcycle. Besides, I don't do enough coke to live in a van down by the river. I don't see anything wrong with willingly being homeless but traveling and doing odd jobs here and there. I have a lot of skills. If I get bored I will just find a place I like and settle down there.

That is the plan. I go survival camping in the wilderness once a year, so it will be nice to do that somewhere that won't be my usual locations.
I did something similar 30 years ago, with a car. It's probably much harder now, certainly more expensive, cops might be a problem, schizos and druggies much more common. Free camping available in the west but its usually far from any services which you will need like food, much harder to transport by bike, no cellular service, in the east campgrounds are expensive and often few and far between. If you aren't in a campground cops and other scum might frick up your day. I lasted 6 months

There are so many cases of east coasters who go out west, walk down a trail and disappear forever, or go swimming in a river and disappear or in your case miss a turn drive off an embankment and disappear. I went hiking with my father in law one time and we got to a junction in a trail and he wanted to go one way, it told him it led directly into 50 miles of wilderness, he was wearing sandals, had no water or anything else. He just couldn't get it thru his head, even when I showed him a map, that there wouldn't be a highway or convenience store right around the corner or that surely the trail just looped around in a quarter mile
You've just got some weird superiority complex and think anyone east of the Mississippi doesn't know what wilderness is. I'm the OP. I ride a dualsport for thousands of miles and camp on the side of the road. I carry fuel with me, carry plenty of water. I'm a veteran and served two tours. I know how to survive when I need to. Save for the plains, the west is abundant in fish and wildlife to eat.

sir it is illegal to hunt/fish/exist here without the pre-requisite licenses (200 dollaras plus tip) and 300 hour training (150 dollars just takes a few weeks) before the 400 dollar certification exams (you cannot retake them 80 questions should be easy).

When I camp in the wilderness I bring a slingshot and eat squirrel and fish from a stream. I know game wardens are everywhere out west, but it never stopped me. Plus I can get fishing licenses online cheap and fast. Hunting licenses are a different story, but for varmint it is easier to get away with.
Possibly, though I could just sleep with the fat lady behind the counter at the 4queens and get a free hotel room and rent it out to junkies.

I did this with very little money, living in my car with everything i owned in the back just left to find the best city i would live in.
In regards to money, Leave the job and do it, but don’t sell the business. Starting over is very difficult to do if you actually go to zero, and if you don’t plan on going to zero, why take out the money from the business to start? Live poor on only what you earn from the business which will extend the amount of time you can stay out.
For living, i think you will find that rain and winter cold will be major factors. Rain will put you in a motel for a night repeatedly and you may spend as much as you would just renting over the course of a month. In winter the cold extends very far south, with only Arizona and southern Florida staying warm all year. Even Georgia won’t be warm, and riding a motorcycle and camping will not be comfortable for at least 2 full months, which will be difficult if you don’t have a place to warm up. Consider going to Mexico during the winter.
On the subject of time, i think you’re under estimating the amount of ground you can cover by riding every day. You will go most everywhere in 6 months maximum. You’ll probably end up staying in a place or some places for a long while.
Finally, for your job, try to get fired for incompetence right before leaving so you can collect unemployment. All the offices to interview you are closed because of the super deadly covid1984 virus, so they won’t catch you by asking you to randomly interview. Just make an absolutely shit resume and apply for jobs you aren’t qualified for so it looks like you’re searching online.
Also, so much of the United States is the same, not much going on. Places that have more going on will be very hard to find camping nearby, such as NY, Miami, Chicago, LA. You can see this on freecampsites dot something . So you’ll be staying outside of major cities, which may be disappointing if you want to go see America.

definitely sounds workable, but are you open to wandering out of vegas and dying of dehydration if you can't afford any fentanyl? might be a worthwhile alternative
With only $80k, I'd do that in like Thailand or something. But in the US that'd be suicide.
