Sedona or Flagstaff if you actually want to do interesting shit. Phoenix if you’re just trying to bang ASU bawds and eat Mexican food.

What opinion on Tucson? Or Scottsdale?

Honestly, my opinion of the whole Phoenix metro (including Scottsdale) is that it’s pretty grim and soulless but maybe I just missed the good parts somehow. I haven’t been to Tucson, but the northern part of the state is absolutely SOVL (once you learn to ignore the hippies).

What's particularly soulless, in your opinion? I've only been to late-night concerts and art exhibits, which are probably the good parts. I'm also keen on somewhere not too expensive

I had a blast in Scottsdale when I visited in 2018 but I also just drank and railed lines of blow all for four days straight so your mileage may vary. There’s definitely a ton of money there and some pretty cool bars/clubs

I grew up in Arizona and have/have had relatives in almost every city in the state.
It depends on your job. If you work in something ubiquitous (healthcare, police, fire, retail, or from home) then live in Sedona, Prescott, Flagstaff, maybe Payson; south AZ is a shithole compared to those places.
If you have any other job you'll have to live in Phoenix, maybe Tucson. Tucson is a shithole compared even to Phoenix so be warned, it's difficult to find a nice enough neighborhood. Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Mesa, Gilbert, most of Chandler and north Scottsdale are your normal suburbs with varying degrees of wealth. If you have kids, live in Mesa or north Peoria (where the Mormons are), north Scottsdale if you're rich enough. If you're single, mid/south Scottsdale is the "happening" place where you find all the cringe craft beer shit, and Tempe is just ASU so that's where all the actual cool shit is. North Chandler works too, but lightrail access in Tempe is ideal. The actual city of Phoenix is unmentionable lol don't live there

Sedona gay born and raised reporting. The nature is Kino, but the non-stop tourim, completel lack of housing due to Air b n b, and deep staffing shortages can make living here feel pretty distopian these days (can't get into restaurants without a 1 month advanced booking, stores constantly running out of essentials etc...). If you can afford to buy a house here and you work from home I'd say it's worth it, therwise ehad up to flagstaff or down to PHX (specifically Arcadia or the Camelback corridor)

I work from home and can afford a home, but not sure how much better the housing market will get in Sedona compared to Phoenix/Tucson.
Gonna visit these spots in the next few months, thanks a ton anons

Why would you live in the desert

Scottsdale/Tempe is based if you enjoy golf or mingling with midwit ASU students. I am Chinese American and did great with white girls here. Travel for work a lot too and I think PHX is one of the best airports in the US. Friends who come visit me always have a blast here too. I am seriously considering settling down in AZ, like the other anons said, Sedona and Flagstaff are awesome places to live.

Arizona sucks ass. I grew up there and see absolutely no reason to ever go back.

Why do you want to live there?
If you have to live there, Flagstaff or Scottsdale is probably alright
