What's the best city in the UK or Ireland for getting absolutely piss drunk and partying?

What's the best city in the UK or Ireland for getting absolutely piss drunk and partying? I'm a yank doing a tour of both countries with some friends (we're in our early 30s) in early July and we want to make sure we're spending our Saturday in the right place. I'd say we're more interested in pubs than clubs, but we're up for whatever as long as its not too pretentious.

There are direct trains from London to Newcastle and unlike London, drinks are cheaper, and the people are freindly and it isnt a shithole in most of the city unlike London.

Same goes for Galway. Direct bus from Dublin Airport or train from Heuston.

Liverpool's nightlife is very good, also highly concentrated in one area meaning you can go a pub crawl. Nearby to Ireland obviously and you can then quite easily get to Manchester as well

Galway is very good for this. Superior to Dublin in most respects.

Dublin has best pub scene. However if you’re not an autist any big city (Newcastle/Glasgow/Leeds/Bristol/Manchester/…) will have something going on. You can even have a blast in many mid size towns but they’re a bit more hit and miss.

London has the best nightclubs but can be super wanky. If you’re into X type of dance music though nothing else compares

Newcastle is really fun can confirm as a native. We have this atmosphere a lot of people seem to love a lot. Drinks are reasonably cheap but have gotten expensive lately due to inflation/cost of living not London tier bad but still not as affected as much as the rest of the country. We cater a lot to student nightlife so you'll wind up meeting all sorts from everywhere . You have several several restaurants on hand to pick from tok also check out our Chinatown it's one of the best parts of the city and has some good food places

I liked the nightlife in Manchester. Hard drinkers and lots of after-hours parties and places staying open (UK has fairly cautious licensing laws, and most pubs still stop selling booze early by US standards). Manchester was one of the first cities in the UK to establish “24-hour licenses,” although nowhere but a casino is actually open 24hrs.

Leeds is pretty good for old pubs. A lot of them are hundreds of years old and have a traditional feel to them. You'll be in Yorkshire as well so you can do some trips to nearby villages for even more traditional pubs.
Manchester is also good and it's an hour away from Leeds so you could do both
