    NY city or Detroit

      Anonymous

Spoken like someone who's never been to New York. New York hasn't been properly sleazy for decades. Too clean-cut and expensive nowadays for ginuwine sleaze, it's just a trust-fund-kid Disneyland nowadays.

Detroit might be sleazy, never been.

Sleaziest places I've personally experienced in the USA have been smaller cities in Nevada (Reno is sleazy, Elko is worse), and some of the the inland LA suburbs, San Fernando Valley where they made all the pr0n back in the day? Sleazy.

LA proper has a little sleaze to it as well, as does Vegas proper.

I think the anon mistook OP saying “sleaziest city” as “shithole”. NYC is definitely a shithole. Agree with the rest of your reply, though. Man, Reno is frickin weird. Outside of gambling areas and obvious frickin shitholes: San Antonio is sleazy af. Outside of the US, Rome is a sleazy ass city.

Not entirely true, you can find blue collar boomers larping as goodfellas mafiosos in certain areas

Grew up in the valley, no sleaze to be seen, porter ranch is one of the biggest asian enclaves in California. Everything about that valley is so clean now that even canoga park is squeaky clean

Miami or Tampa but picrel style sleaze is dead as you may have already noticed.

Sleaze today means fake gucci, rented cars and chartered boats, private tables at shitty day clubs split between 5 guys in their mid 30s who tried to launch an NFT project once, etc. If you're into that kind of sleaze, Florida is filled to the brim with it.

I know nothing about Reno except that it gets mentioned a lot in classic movies.
Every slick smooth talker always mentions Reno but they never actually show the place. It's weird.

        Hollywood laziness.
Plenty of movies that don't take place in Reno are filmed there though. I guess its easier than filming in Vegas.

Reno has gotten a lot nicer in the last decade. Still seedy in places but most of the residential areas are nice

Well, I just had a rather vivid dream I was going to hostess bars in Dallas and there were mexican virgins being pimped out by their grandmother outside there but I think that's a little detached from reality. I don't even like Dallas. I wish I was wrong.

i've lived here for my entire life. everyone i grew up with is either involved in some sort of hustle, a junkie, or dead.
my coke dealer when i was a teenager was my best friend's dad, the sleaziest guy i ever knew. in the late 70's/80s, he pushed coke thru the 2 nightclubs he owned and was involved in pimping and shit

yes, the city is sleaze central. i need to get the frick out of here.

The sleaziest places I've been have all been right outside big military bases. All the vice you could possibly want at discount rates. When I was a young, horny GI I got myself into situations that were completely surreal. Everywhere I went was completely gross, but a guy with a little cash could get anything he wanted so long as he stayed out of fights with townies. I've been in lots of the kind of places where you walk in and immediately know that your chances of getting laid versus getting stabbed were about even, and more than a few where I felt like the chances of being ass raped and left for dead were significantly non-zero. At least I never bought a car just off post, though you could do that if you wanted the full experience.

      Anonymous

It's not like that anymore. I'm from one of those towns. It's all zoomers and military culture changed. They're full of antidepressants, seed oils and HFCS so they have a low sex drive and are all weebs and dorks who spend their money and time on vidya and hentai. Plus women and gays are in it and fricking on base. E-3s seem more likely to off themselves now than start fights in town. The last strip club was torn down a couple years ago. The bars turned into places with "craft wienertails" and progress flags outside, I don't see anyone with a regulation haircut in them. The military also cracked down on vice along with local governments. I don't see prostitutes on the street anymore. There's still sketchy "massage" places but its mostly boomers and beaners going in them.

They're still selling marines clapped out overpriced Mustangs at car lots right off base and the fat lazy hos in town are still marrying guys after their 3rd date then cheating on them on their first deployment, so that part hasn't changed.

One time I was at bar in downtown and everyone was doing coke openly in the bar.
People cutting lines on the bar tables.
I was doing coke too it was like a coke party.
In a lot of ways miami never left the '80s and '90s.
It's a socially acceptable sleaziness, people don't even notice it.

Detroit feels like going to an alternate universe. It’s basically The Crow meets the Gathering of the Juggalos.

      Anonymous

This is so ridiculous - you obviously have never been to Detroit. Detroit, in most places, is a ghost town. The population is about 33% of what it was in the 1950s/1960s. The downtown part of the city, unlike a decade or two ago, is quite safe and typical of many Midwest cities. Good food, sports stadiums, etc. Unlike every city I’ve been to in California I. The past decade, Detroit doesn’t have bums and junkies laying on every corner. Nor are there homeless camps like you see in many California cities. I’d never live in deteoit, but it’s certainly not at all like the oddly dated depictions you gave.

This. I've felt safe in basically anywhere I go in America EXCEPT these two piece of shit cities. Vegas attracts all the shit tourists and losers from across the country and even if you have money to ball you'll still feel unsafe from all the seedy shit and Black folk trying to flex or fight you.
New Orleans is even worse. Rampant thievery and just straight up disgusting despite how beautiful the old architecture is in parts of downtown. Even Mississippi Black folk look like saints compared to the utter scum that come out of NOLA.
