You should always have at least a couple hundred in dollar equivalent. In many places, especially Europe, they do not accept card. And if you go to certain countries, you may need to bribe to avoid a sticky situation.

Depends on the location. Somewhere in western Europe or America, maybe 500. SE Asia, half that. South America, no more than 100 at a time. All of this based on USD

Literally none, for the last 5 years I have just travelled with my card, for the small amount of places that don't accept card you can always just get cash out at an atm, I would however say it depends on your style of travel, if you're a budget poorpacker then you'll need money. If you're a 5* chad you literally don't need cash anywhere

I can’t pay for street food, drugs, or creampies with my MasterCard.

Use your Visa for the creampies.

1k in my bag (I don't stay in hostels).
At least $100-200 for any bribes or being robbed in case shit hits the fan.

$500 for shtf situations. Used to keep $200 but it's just not enough for a week or two most places.

I use mostly plastic where I can, but I make sure to have at least a couple hundred in cash on me (most often in € and/or CHF) while in transit; I’ve been stuck twice without access to an ATM when I’ve needed cash for visas, photos, other in-airport expenses, and it was annoying.

Once I have arrived wherever I’m going, I might keep some cash on me if it’s a place where cards are hard or expensive to use, or where I might not have easy ATM access, but I don’t like carrying huge wads at any time if I can avoid it.

Always around 500. Never got any issues. Just hide it well or put your backpack in front if you’re in a crowded city with lots of pickpockets.

In the trip as whole, at least 1200 usd. With me at all times, at least 200 usd. Always put the banknotes in different places (carry on, personal item and in my pocket or pocket and wallet when in destination).
Even though I always bring at least three different cards, from two different banks, bringing some cash helps me to be cool with the possibility of some problem with ATM's or my bank back home.
