Prague or Barcelona, not Paris.
Why not?
Paris is a shithole full of nigs and its overpriced. Barcelona and especially Prague are much better value for the money and 1 week isn't long enough to get bored. You really can't "do" paris in a single week.
ya, i was quite underwhelmed by paris. just felt dirty and not point in being there. though i've heard a lot of stuff outside of paris is great to see.
I’ve added Rome to the list now as well
Assuming you're going late winter/early spring, Barcelona without a doubt. The climate's gonna be a lot more forgiving than your other two options. BCN and Prague are about neck and neck in terms of affordability around this time. It's a city with world-class amenities, and early spring is a good time to visit, before the tourist high season kicks in.
Weed is also legal, if you don't mind going through a few annoying hoops in order to get it. But it's nothing too onerous, and you'll have access to speakeasies that allow you to smoke pot on site if you choose to go about it legally.
Wtf, I'm spaniard, and I can assure you that weed is not legal in the hole country. You may have been wrong because of the coffee shops, but there are quite different than Amsterdam
>Wtf, I'm spaniard, and I can assure you that weed is not legal in the hole country.
...you can buy weed legally in Barcelona if you join a cannabis club. I literally did that this summer. You can smoke it legally on the premises. Technically it's illegal to bring it back home with you, but no one pays attention or gives a shit.
They can’t arrest you for it. So it’s essentially legal.
Go to Prague
Paris is an expensive shithole full of nigs but it has world class museums and if you have money it can be a great experience still.
Barcelona or Prague will be better if you have less money, I'd prefer Barcelona right now for the sagrada familia and weather.
how would Budapest or Rome compare?
Budapest is quite cheap, a fair bit to do, and well worth visiting. If I were you, I'd go half Prague, half Budapest.
I was just in Barcelona & Prague recently. I would recommend Barcelona if you're going very soon, Prague if you're going in the summer. Barcelona was actually warm enough to walk around without a jacket, even in January.
ignoring weather, which city is better to stay in and enjoy a peaceful week and really feel like you're in Europe?
From personal experience, Prague felt "more European" out of the two.
Prague for sure. Spain feels like Mexico if Mexico wasn't a shit hole.
"European" is a meaningless term as every country can be vastly different from each other. Central to northern is pretty samey, but Barcelona and Prague couldn't be more different. I'd say go to Prague as the medieval architecture is probably something you're not used to.
Id say Prague.
Bonuspoints if you like Kafka
Czech Republic has a high inflation right now so it might be the cheapest option depending on where you come from. Highly recommended in its own right but I think it might be a bit hard to fill up a whole week unless you know all the places to check out. There's plenty of, but as a tourist you might just know about the main ones.
Go to Prague first. Your first trip to a former commie bloc country
Paris is a dumpster fire, Barcelona is overrated. Go to Prague.
