You realize that you can just go to Russia, right? It's still open for tourism, no big deal.

      Anonymous

Hmm not really, they don't accept dollars or euros, so you have to use bitcoin, and have made finding accomodation nigh impossible now, though it was always harder to visit than Ukraine and Kazakhstan because of their visa requirements which are expensive and time consuming, and registration is a pain in the ass.

I literally lived and studied in Russia prior to covid so I'm not talking out my ass.

I'm sorry for you that you can't enjoy travel to sanctioned countries then.
In most places you can get a local prepaid payment card that can be blocked an reissued if needed, so you would only have to carry cash until you get the card.
If the current situation continues for Russia they will start offering something similar as well soon.

Most of the Russians there are fleeing Russia, and 80% of those have already gone on to other countries (3 month max visa). Not sure why you think Kazakhstan is a Russian experience. Also it was extremely cheap a few years ago. Now extremely expensive (more than W Euro level) since everyone is exploiting the rich Russians liberal refugees.

Belarus is much more similar, but as others said, you can in fact just go to Russia.

            even the sanctions are bullshit
cant enter baltics? go to any other european city and take a bus or a ferry
coca cola left the country? well, a local company that is owed 100% by coca cola release their own version
mcdonalds leaves russia? literally taken over by a franchisee with the option to return at any time during next 5 years, same shitty food except for bigmac, zero people lost their jobs, all the profits stay in russia, more money for putin

I appreciate this board and often use it to acquire hard to find factual information. As far as I know, Russia is not closed. They have lifted their covid restrictions & require a PCR if not vaxed. They are issuing tourist visas as usual. There are additional hurdles, such as not being able to use Visa/Mastercard and having to fly an airline which still operates in Russia. Several airlines do, including Turkish Airlines, so to me it seems like you would just have to travel old school with cash.
