Adelaide - cheaper than anywhere else, you're close to everywhere. Lots to see and do, has an old world feel

Sydney - Like london or any big city, very expensive, lots to see and do.

Melbourne - hipster central, medium city, lots to see and do, a bit expensive but its ok if you get out of the city. Close to everything.

Perth - far from everywhere, literally nothing to do, most places close at 5pm. Great if all you want to do is stare at the ocean and look at some rocks. Expensive living costs, currently has the worst rental crisis of anywhere

What else do you want to know, ask me some questions

Tasmania as a whole feels like a never ending country town. Hobart is relatively small but limited opportunities - nice for a visit for sure. Tassie is rugged and nature-orientated, but honestly you'll never see more road kill on the roads anywhere compared to it sadly.

Thats weird because coming from a leaf I noted perth as much more livable than here. Its one of the places id consider if I could get PR

IIRC it compared well against Toronto with a numbeo COL comparison, and I could rent a house in Perth for what a bachelors apartment would run me an hours drive from the GTA

This is bascially right on all accounts esp. Perth being a shithole. From Adelaide but (+):

Hobart: Great food and parks/wildlife is well funded, some of the best outdoorsing you can do in Australia. Houses are cheaper and there's a decent job market esp. if you work in Health.

Darwin: Set your clocks back to 1980 re. the working culture. People do frick all work-wise, some of the laziest people in Australia. You will have your shit stolen or broken into at some point sooner or later. Cheap flights to and from Bali.

Alice Springs: Expensive rent + you will have your shit stolen or smashed. Tons of Melbourne hipsters who go there with a white-saviour complex and a social work degree to work for an NGO on absurd (100k+) money.

        By who?

Redpill me on Perth. It seems like a good place to get away from it all, nice and remote.

        Same

If a war happens its like the most secure place on earth to have your family, direct migration crises are unlikely with 4000+ miles of open ocean in every direction, its not susceptible to any natural disasters Im aware of besides drought/wildfires, and its reasonably priced by western standards

In a world with the internet/online shopping/telecommutes, nobody actually needs to live in centrally placed shitholes like NYC/London/Hong Kong. Some distance from major population centres is a bonus IMO.

Imagine getting all your food and supplies from trains and trucks that travel 3000km from the Eastern seaboard.

"Direct migration crises" don't happen anywhere in Australia... we just import x amt of Indians to keep house prices from depreciating and backfill nursing home/fruit picking jobs. if you want distance from a city centre but also enjoy the locality of having some remote access to amenities you're better off considering country South Australia or Victoria.

            >Imagine getting all your food and supplies from trains and trucks that travel 3000km from the Eastern seaboard.
I checked numbeo, perth food prices are actually comparable or slightly cheaper than toronto

Theres a few weird things that are quite expensive, but the basics like eggs/dairy/protein are cheaper than what Im used to

            >"Direct migration crises" don't happen anywhere in Australia... we just import x amt of Indians to keep house prices from depreciating and backfill nursing home/fruit picking jobs
Exactly, so the quality of those that are let in is higher than in places like england or the southern us where any carpetbagging shitskin that feels like jumping the border can do so regardless of criminal record/skills/background

            >if you want distance from a city centre but also enjoy the locality of having some remote access to amenities you're better off considering country South Australia or Victoria.
            Seems kinda expensive though.

Im not that obsessed with perth, it just seems like a pretty decent option for western cities

      Not true at all.
If you have a car, you have to go places early morning or late at night. All other hours the road system is gridlocked and it takes hours to get anywhere.
If you don’t have a car and you’re using the tram system, going anywhere usually means getting sent into the city centre and then back out to wherever you’re going. Takes forever.
And your journey is almost always delayed even further because the morons that designed the tram system made them run along the roads, meaning they spend most of their time sitting in gridlocked traffic.
To go anywhere in Melbourne takes minimum 40 minutes.
It would take me an hour and a half to get to work, often 2 hours.

Melbourne is also a very run down, dirty place. The CBD especially is ugly as frick. Not helped by how dreary and bleak the place is in winter.

Melbourne’s redemption comes from how many cool bars and venues there are, and how many events are going on. Sports, music, theatre, whatever you’re into, there will pretty much always be something happening in Melbourne.
If it wasn’t for this cultural scene it would be a shit tier city.

living in australia is like living in hell. australians are some of the most moronic, yet smug people on the planet, and the australian government is adversarial to its people in almost all of its manifestations. dealing with any auspice of the state here just feels like its purposely designed to hinder you, if not outright attack you. income and capital gains tax here is fricking absurd if you make any serious cash, the cities are either expensive and fricking boring or absurdly expensive and alright, and all of them are plagued with aggressive homeless and ice addict zombies. the beaches here are gorgeous and the nature and national parks that are available are great, although they don't even come close to making up for all of the above.

When I visited Australia, my Australian friends gave me bad, wrong information about lots of things. I just learned to ignore them and had a great time at my own pace.

I don't think they misled me on purpose, it's just that they view things through the lense of a mired local stuck in his situation, rather than a temporary visitor with a fresh perspective.

This is somewhat of an exaggeration, though Australia is an odd case of a superficially developed country, with all the trappings of high tech, non-slum-looking, skyscrapers, but also it's kind of a facade, with serious housing shortages, an economy that makes nothing (not even war machines like the US), a heavily resource based economy, but then also a service sector. It's like it first and thirdworld maxxed. A sort of development anti-centrist.
Australia is like a modernisation project that kinda failed and turned into a US military base with mines, full of refugees.
Aus leadership lacks vision and so apes US movements. So you get the equivalent of an annoying shitlib or a boomer cuck conservative.
There is a big gap between what Australia could be vs what it is.

Sydney - Best balance of weather, best beaches close to city, expensive, worse nightlife than it should be for a city that size

Melbourne - Worst weather (still better than most other countries), expensive (but less than sydney), best nightlife + 'culture', average beaches

Brisbane - Great weather, doesn't have beaches close to city but beaches nearby (sunshine coast + gold coast) are some of the best in the world, was cheaper but expensive right now, better nightlife for a city of its size.

Perth - Great weather, good beaches, poor nightlife, same price situation as Brisbane, far away (5hr flight) from anywhere else

Sydney = Melbourne > Brisbane > Perth in terms of job markets.

As a Brisbanite, Sydney if you're rich, Melbourne if you're a city person and enjoy going out, and Brisbane if you enjoy the surf or outdoors

The education system is cooked, with the next generation of teachers essentially being taught to lay the groundwork for pedophilia by pushing trans acceptance for 3 year olds, "socialisation" as the aim of ed instead of development of power and independence, also the deconstruction and abolition of the notion of childhood innocence. I'm about 50% sure that my lecturer was a pedophile.

give me one reason why would you want to be a 18-45 year old man in australia in the current year? its a horrible place to do business, see reasons below

    >>ATO tax israelites up your arse
    taxed horribly each trade
    >>can't even make a business without being raked over red tape
    cost of living
    >>good luck making a lemonade stall , you'll need a permit that costs $500 plus insurance and a tip kek
is a massive rip off and unattainable if your under 35
    low gdp growth
gibs draining your youth and ambition

why live here when the best u can be is a wagie driving in rush hour in the mornings to pay your mortgage and feed your fat wife and bastard kids til you die at 60

just go to asia and enjoy your fuking youth
    its a different world
don't waste your youth in aussie c**ts..

    come on up and enjoy
    >> $1000 a month 2 bedroom CBD apartments
    >> $10 all you can eat feasts
    >> 7 days a week night life, dining and entertainment
    >> easy pleasant and feminine women

    alot more business opportunites
since you can pay frick all wages you can scale up profits
there is a need for aussie premium goods and services
    eg. aussie themed cafe/bar/juice shop
aussie meat, fruits and veges are in demand and there isn't enough supply for locals

the fat boomers with SEAmonkey wives learnt the truth the hard way after 50+ years, a lifetime of waging and a divorce rape

There is fricking nothing there, look up Darwin on maps it is tiny, the only people that move there do so temporarily for work (mostly military + partners) and the only other noteworthy settlement is 1500km south. Full of drunk abos, a lot of spots you aren't even allowed to buy booze, methylated spirits is locked in supermarkets lol

As to OP, Brisbane is underrated to live. Cheaper and and not pozzed like Syd/ Mel with good proximity to a lot of beautiful beaches and hikes. A big enough city that we still get decent festivals, restaurants and international bands. Airport is good enough to travel to Asia, I usually use Singapore as a hub for further trips to Europe. CBD doesn't feel like walking through a horde of Chinese and Indians like Sydney does.

That's FNQ. The Top End is unique, you can't really compare it. It's a mix of desert and tropical, really some of the most beautiful nature on Earth.

But it's basically third world and extremely dangerous. The NT is one of the only places in Australia where the Aboriginal peoples have free reign over their land, if you go there and start acting like a c**t/disrespect them, they'll kill you.

Sydney / Melbourne and probably large parts of the other main cities are just filled with asiatics, pajeets and self hating white liberals. Everything is disgustingly expensive. What little European identity/history we have here is shunned and mocked by locals. Both cities are rapidly becoming a mishmash of disjointed groups all stepping on each others toes a la London. The people not only hate themselves, but seem to love having the government tell them what to do every step of the way. There is no sector of society that hasn’t been ruined by the government’s heavy boot stepping on it. Mandatory helmet wearing while cycling. 97.5% of people opting to be vaccinated. Exorbitant fines for everything, and everything fun is illegal. Vaping, drinking in public, driving 3 km/h over the speed limit, etc. This country has been carefully crafted to bleed you dry of money and the will to live at every opportunity.

Melbourne has no redeeming features other than “laneways”, as though that’s something worth getting onto a 20 hour flight for.

Sydney and the surrounding towns at least have beautiful beaches, which really are the best in the world without a doubt. Spend a few days in and around Sydney and then go to north QLD or WA.
