I have a elderly friend who's been taking this for years now, it really works. He's disabled in a wheelchair, and weighted 280 pounds, but after two weeks of injecting that, he went down to 204 pounds. All it does it just make your stomach smaller so it you eat less naturally, no mystery about it.

Fasting can also cause gallstones and pancreatitis because your pancreas still think that you're eating huge quantities of fat and oil which bile is responsible for digesting.
It take a while for your body to send a message to stop producing bile because you no longer need it.
The excess may crystalize and form stones or they may block the ducts.

No you bunch of morons, fasting is not bad. But if you're a fatso that have gallbladder issues may develop gallstones stones or pancreatitis, it's uncommon but it may happen.
            Most people have no issue.

Gallstones and pancreatitis are the worst pains a person can suffer, if you have pancreatitis you can't even drink water and you have to receive fluids and nutrients directly in your vein until the problem sort itself.
It can also kill you if not treated.

One meal a day is more than enough.
People who don't fast get scared with the initial symptoms of fasting like low blood pressure, tiredness, headaches which disappears after the body get used to the idea of not using food as an energy source, using the stored glucose instead.
I don't recommend practicing intense phisical exercise while fasting though, if you drain the glucose too quickly you'll have to wait for the liver to make ketone bodies which takes time to produce.

I try not to give advice at all on this really, I think people are different, with different tolerances and body types. I just say what I do, what works for me. I eat one big meal at dinner, then I eat a smaller meal of eggs or some such a couple of hours later. Then I don't eat anything until next dinner. My workout is a couple of hours before dinner. Works for me at least, I'm in pretty good health.

That's because you can lose a lot of mass through water, but fat goes more slowly. If you have near zero energy intake, you'll lose around a pound of fat per day, depending on your starting weight and body composition.

It's roughly 3500 kcal/day(cal/day in the American system) per 1 lb of fat. If you're losing 1lb per day of FAT you have an insane base metabolic rate.

              Anonymous

It's close to a pound if you're a physically active man with a high amount of muscle. For sedentary people and women, it's less, but still somewhat comparable.
The longest recorded fast was Angus Barbieri who water+vitamin fasted for 382 days, and lost 276 pounds through it. That works out to around 0.72 pounds per day.

Grass fed butter is rich in vitamin K2, which keeps the plaque out of your arteries and helps your blood clot from a wound, and can even help teeth regenerate due to the calcium it binds from your blood. Grain fed is completely deficient of it. The yellower it is the richer it is in vitamins. Besides that, the omega 3 fat profile is healthier in grass fed milk.

Most people don’t understand you’re supposed to feel hungry sometimes. They think you’re supposed to instantly satiate hunger every waking moment from the time you wake up until the time you go to bed. And in the modern world where you can order McDonalds to be delivered with a few swipes on your phone while you’re on the toilet shitting out the last McDonalds you ate, its never been easier.

            Anonymous

Yeah, and if you get over this weird delusion you'll realize that you actually feel better when you're not satiated all day. Also, the meals you have eat better and feel more satisfying. No idea where this idea comes from that you have to graze on burgers all day like some weird ruminant, but it's a stupid idea in every way.

Part of it is probably hardwired into our monkey brains. In prehistoric times if you were good at seeking out food and storing fat you had a higher chance of survival. Of course you’d have to stalk your meal for two days and murder it with your bare hands, spending tens of thousands of calories in the process.
There’s also a cultural aspect to it
              >clean plate club!
              >finish up or no dessert!
              >you don’t want to go to bed hungry, do you?
and parents throw food at their kids because its a great way to shut them up for awhile.
Still, these aren’t hard habits to break. I used to be a lardass and once I started asking myself questions every time I got hungry I got healthy pretty quickly: do I really NEED to eat right now? Or do I just want to? Have I done enough hard work to justify a burger? Or should I eat some carrots?

Yeah, sort of the same here. I was never really fat, but over the years I was just slowly bloating until I was like 10kg over what I should be. Then I asked myself: in another decade I'll be a flabby guy, do I really want that? So I started eating less than I feel like doing and instantly went back to a weight that's fine for me. Wasn't really hard at all, just shove less food into yourself, kek.

you underestimate how lazy people are.
I was a bit out of shape last year due to turning 30 and eating lots of processed foods.
All I did to turn things around was start fasting (one meal a day) and doing light exercise. Pushups and sit ups in the morning, a light jog in the evening. Now I'm in better shape than I was in my early 20s.

I told him he could cut down a good chunk of weight if he stopped drinking soda/sugary "coffee" milkshakes and maybe skipping lunch.
He couldn't comprehend it. He said he would get too hungry.
The guy has a belly like a 5'2" woman that's nine months pregnant with twins and he says he would get "hungry." He could survive months without eating and he would still have a little bit of a gut.

That’s a crock of shit. It doesn’t make your stomach smaller you fricking moron. It’s a synthetic hormone (glp-1) that tells your brain that you’re full. It slows your digestion and can make food rot in your stomach. It’s a israelite drug. They want people to take it because they become dependent on it. Once you stop taking it, it has a similar effect to taking anabolic steroids. As with taking anabolic steroids, after you take them for a while, your body will stop producing testosterone naturally, you’ll deflate and get man boobs. If you take ozempic for a while then stop you’ll body will no longer produce glp-1. Then you’ll just gain all the weight back and then some. These people want the public dependent on prescription drugs for life. What better way to control a population than to make them critically dependent on drugs.

I'm a pharmacist, the drug works for weight loss and 95% of people are going to have no real side effects besides possible stomach upset/diarrhea.
It's mainly an appetite suppressant and also encourages glucose-dependent insulin release (meaning it will not cause hypoglycemia unlike drugs that release insulin indiscriminately).

But this is also true, it works as a "lose weight quick" drug, but the weight will come back as soon as you're off it unless you actually made real changes to your diet and exercise. It's an expensive drug too. So for the majority of these fat fricks, it's only a temporary solution before they balloon back up.

The real disaster will come when health plans stop covering it for off-label use. Now regulation could change what is off-label, but that couldn't happen fast enough to prevent financial ruin for people who have to pay for this shit out of their own pockets.

Yep it's very expensive, like $1000+ a month depending on your health plan.
also I'm guessing the vast majority of people that take it aren't diabetic, so diabetics are getting screwed over. Now not only is the availability shaky, but the price is only going to continue to increase.

Shit was like dysentery, it was coming out both ends, massive unending sweats, fatuige on a level I had never felt before, I couldn't eat for a week and a half, I couldn't even keep water down. the two drinks I was able to keep down without violently vomiting in the toilet was sierra mist and cheerwine. Oz mostly makes them lethargic, a lot of them lose more muscle than fat. Amphetamines have their own issues, but lethargy and muscle wasting typically aren't part of them.

I agree. I have been naturally skinny my whole life just because I don't have much desire to eat, I have never been food motivated. But it's a totally normal adaptation to eat a lot, we have just created a society where you can easily get a ton of calorific foods and that is super recent and evolution has not caught up. I hope the medication is available to anyone who needs it. I am not a healthy weight because of willpower or exercising or anything like that, it is purely genetics.

This advice is ok, but remember, exercise is for fitness level. It has little to do with weight loss.

Your body is made in the kitchen, not in the gym. I advise you to do some exercise for general cardiovascular health and strength but exercise has little to do with fat loss. Stop eating processed foods, you need to cook and prepare your food yourself.

I think people are a bit different on this with their metabolism or whatever the frick, but for me the only single thing that helps keeping my weight down is regulating what I eat. I can work out hard 7 days a week but if I just eat whatever I feel like I start bloating regardless.

Fortunately it's very easy to not eat all you crave if you have fatso-prone genetics like me. Eating is work, just refrain from doing the work that is eating. It's not dangerous to feel very hungry before the next meal.

People grossly overestimate the amount of calories you actually burn via exercise. There's this misconception, particularly in America, that exercise= guaranteed weight loss, but it's really 95% dietary. Exercise is great, but if you want to lose weight you have to eat accordingly. People will work out for 3 weeks while eating whatever the frick they feel like, see none or very little in the way of results and then go back to their lazy fat frick ways without learning a god damn thing from it.

It's almost impossible for fat people to manage to burn significant calories exercising before they gas out. Your cardio and pain tolerance(and physical durability) just isn't going to be up to the task compared to the explosive levels of calorie burning that fit people can do.

I have found that BMR calculators online do a fair job of estimating your BMR...which is usually just a function of your body fat%, weight, and height. The scales they use at the doctor's office do that by testing the electrical resistance of your feet generally.

Ozempic isn't an amphetamine. It stimulates receptors that normally indicates you're full, and it stops your gut to bare minimum movement.

That's a function of all starvation diets. Ozempic is a starvation diet, just like Atkins, Keto, South Beach, whatever. If it trends with a name, it's a starvation diet. The weight comes off too fast, in a manner worse for your health than putting the weight on in the first place.

The authoritative studies on weight loss are meta-studies about recoveries of heart attack victims. Any study about marketed "diets," especially those identified as "macro-nutrient," is necessarily corrupted and inherently unreliable. Studies that look at multiple aspects of recovery progress of coronary patients, with weight loss being just of many metrics, are very clear. You consume moderate portions of an inventory of food that is consistent with is what called a "Mediterranean Diet." When doctors tell you to exercise, they mean taking the stairs, doing yard work and chores, walking to places where it is unnecessary to drive, etc. They don't mean hitting the gym 6x/week.

Do that and take the body you get. Any expectations beyond that remind me what I once read in an interview with a doctor who performed penile implants. He said he turns away 75% of men who come to him, telling them they don't need an implant, they need a psychiatrist.

This is true for those who are using it as a 'Diet' - they are trying to lose weight very quickly and use high doses. For those of use using it to control/treat Diabetes, the doses are much lower, and many of us have already made serious dietary and lifestyle changes before going on the drug.

This is my chief concern about the off label use; it could backfire on the maker and those who use it for its intended purpose. People using it as a pathway to quick weight loss make it less available to those who use it to make themselves healthier, not sicker. Or overuse as a weight loss drug could create liability or regulatory concerns such that the maker actually pulls it from the market. People who abuse this shit and doctors who enable it are a serious threat to people trying to use it to control a serious health condition. It kind of pisses me off. The mechanisms it uses for this off label use are dangerous to all concerned.

The frick is the ozympic face thing? Like, what's the mechanism? The drug does something to subcutaneous fat in weird places or something, that's why people end up looking like crack people?

        See my post

"Ozempic Face" is just women discovering that their skin has less collagen and so when they lose weight they end up all saggy and wrinkly, unlike men, who generally don't suffer as much.

It's just women being moronic. They expect to look like Bogdanoffs with sharp, defined cheekbones and taut skin when they lose weight. But women's skin doesn't snap back like men's skin does. So they end up all wrinkly and jowly and saggy in the face.

Nah, I've noticed the ozympic people start looking weird. I've seen lots of people lose weight in a normal way, they don't get the ozympic lich look.

Bullshit. Women's faces and bodies ALWAYS sag like crazy when they lose weight. In fact, the number one complaint that women have when they lose weight is that they develop a jiggly flap of loose skin under their arms.

Why is it so inconceivable that this experimental drug that messes with your hormones and shit has some sort of other weird effect on people? Anyways, I'm obviously not the only one who has noticed the specific and particular "ozympic face" thing, since it seems it has it's own name now.

Why is it so inconcievable that women's faces are just naturally droopy when they lose a bunch of weight? When I first heard the term "Ozempic face" I assumed it was going to be like mysterious inflammation, kind of like that wierd puffy face effect that bulimic girls get. But it's not.

Yeah, it's not puffiness. Something happens that is sort of the same that happens with late stage heroin addicts. They get this ghoul-like undead look.

Those heroin addicts get a thing called "Weight loss" because their guts ALSO slow from the opiates and thus lose the desire to eat. Opiate addicts INFAMOUSLY also get stomach paralysis.

The shit really works if you have metabolic syndrome/Type II diabetes.
I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes and fatty liver disease in my 40s due to shit diet and working 12 hour swing shifts to support a family for years. I started taking this stuff at age 50, in 10 months, I lost 45 lbs, (I started at 6'4" 260lb) my A1c is normal, liver enzyme levels are normal, and I've drastically reduced my blood pressure meds, and have started running again. I'm in better physical health than I've been in in over 20 years. I used to lift heavy through my 20s and 30s, so I started out on ozempic with A LOT of muscle mass, and have definitely lost some.
I'm probably in better health than most of the people here unless you are lifting, running, and training BJJ every day.

The shit is a life saver. I used to have zero energy, and every time I tried to lose weight, I failed, many times over. Its a like a reset button for my metabolism. I feel really good, and my joints no longer hurt.

People get weird 'ozempic face' from losing weight too quickly and not getting enough protein- they lose as much muscle mass as fat, and their face and asses cave in. I pretty much eat as much protein as I can every day in the forms of fish, chicken breasts, beef and protein shakes. I have almost no appetite for much else other than some vegetables I force down to make sure I get enough fiber.
The only place that there is any noticeable effect is in my neck, as I've lost a few inches on it, though I started with a 19" neck and I'm over 50, so I don't really care.

I'm surprised it worked. I also had a diabetes diagnosis for being a fatass a year or so back and got prescribed this stuff because I couldn't tolerate metformin. It sucks. It makes you feel awful and barely has any effect. I ended up just doing a strict keto diet and that worked way better in conjunction with on-demand glyburide when my glucose was overly high in the morning or evening.

Normal people who just lose weight and don't inject gallons of heroin don't get the "dying ghoul" look though.

Probably because they've got a balanced diet. I wonder if there is a comparable "Keto face", since a ketogenic diet would PROBABLY do something similar by mechanism of draining out 'water weight'(less glycogen stored in muscle)

People frick it up all of the time by taking ozempic without changing their diet. I'm at the point where I need to reduce my metformin dose or my blood sugar drops a bit low.
Its like my ex-wife who got Roux en Y surgery to lose weight, lost a lot of weight, then put more back on because she never changed her diet.

You should try strict keto. Like less than 50g carbs a day. It's a pain in the ass to meal prep around this, but like. I'm at the point where my waking glucose is like 110 max, postmeal it hovers around 100, and my baseline is in the mid 70's. It had more of an effect than anything else I've done.

If you are talking about the initial weight loss that comes from the reduction of inflammation (aka loss of water weight) after entering initial ketosis, that weight is lost extremely rapidly, but is limited to the actually habitual inflammation.

a normal sized man might lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks initially, but after that it is going to be ~2.5 lbs/ week max after that tops.

  31. 2 weeks ago

I took it for 3 months, lost nearly 30 pounds. It killed my need to be constantly snacking. I still got hungry at the correct meal times and it was much easier to stop eating before feeling full

The only notable side effect was my bowels slowing down, it went away after I added more fiber to my diet.

Another downside is that you have to constantly increase the dosage as your body adapts to baseline levels and I couldn't afford the expense to continue.

To be fair, Ozempic likely does help people make that decision. Like a gastric bypass, it keeps your gut fuller longer from food you've already eaten, and so you're more likely to consider the negative effects of eating, and to also not actually feel hungry or actually feel bloated.

The sulfur burps happen for about a month, thats the worst side effect I've had. I'm pretty sure its the gut bacteria adjusting. Eating fatty/ high carb foods make me sick, I just avoid junk food altogether. I'd rather eat a chunk of haddock or a chicken breast for a snack.

Do what you want, but I highly recommend diet modifications no matter what you do. You NEED to fix your diet first, especially if you can't exercise. Are you diabetic/prediabetic? Have you considered food journaling? I find that food journaling is the number one indicator of diet success because it forces you to think before you shove shit in your mouth. I recommend an app like myfitnesspal that will let you scan labels to get instant nutrition data. I use Samsung Lifesum, personally, but that's because it came on my phone.

Doubtful, tbh. Novo Nordisk is already the largest supplier of insulin and diabetes treatments. The Ozempic thing was mostly fueled by bay area celebrities and techbros who were getting scrips for diabetes meds for life extension purposes and it broke into the celebrity space because of its ease of use.

Novo Nordisk would be crazy to do such a thing when they already have the planet in a stranglehold over diabetes treatments.

That's the absolute worst, man. Here's my advice. If you can stomach it? Try and at least get into the habit of some sort of fiber supplement for breakfast, and a small meal at lunch, and this will let you cut down the dinner size. The most important micromanagey thing is to space out carbohydrates, truly, but you should focus on getting your daily calorie intake low, too. Most people can manage a 1500 calorie/day diet with food journaling.

Meal prep is your FRIEND. Prepare meals for the whole week on sunday. At least like your aftrwork dinner that way you CAN'T go crazy with it.

Chicken rice and veggies was my go to but the rice just drys out so bad after sitting in the fridge

Have you considered that you can prepare a single serving of rice in 15 minutes with a pressure cooker/instant pot/rice cooker?

Prep the stuff that takes time, then you can heat up the rice as your sole cooking prep.

Currently my go-to meal prep is japanese curry, and I just spiralize a zucchini or heat up some shirataki noodles to go with it and it's all done in 5 minutes.

Yeah, lol when you put it that way I do need to man up and just stop being lazy and cook the rice it doesn’t take long, it’s more of the work factor killing my energy when I’m off duty, this country has got so god damn expensive so I’m just trying to save as much as I can to pay off debts I accrued while I was off work injured

Today actually made me feel abit better after the doctors but man I didn’t help myself putting all this weight on, appreciate your guidance man

It’s a shame what’s happened to my country, curryskins are a scourge on society but thankfully they are all huge fricking pussies and know there place in a white mans presence, should see the look when you have to show up for a call from a security guard, frickers try to jump your leg and think they are a cop too

Make larger batches and freeze it, then you can just heat it up in a saucepan as needed?

I buy 'bentgo' boxes off Amazon that have 3 divided areas. I pressure cook/bake/or slow cook 2 lbs of chicken breasts or haddock, that will be the largest area of the container. then carrots/celery broccoli in another area, then cheese and whole grain crackers in the last compartment.
It'll all make it to friday, but you have to switch up the meat every week, eating chicken breasts gets old really fast.

I just cook every day, it's easier because I eat the same thing every day.
Breakfast, a hard boiled egg, 4 Greek olives, and a sliced of aged cheddar.
Lunch is usually grilled salmon (small portion) a few greens and tomato slices, or just stir fry a chicken with chopped veggies, eat half for lunch and the rest for dinner.
It is super easy to dial down the portions when you want to lose weight this way, like I went from two eggs to one.
It helps I enjoy cooking. And I never touch processed foods anymore, that stuff is poison.
I did intermittent fasting a couple years ago and dropped about 30 pounds and kept it off. It's hard though, my goal is 30 more pounds lost, but I don't think I'm healthy enough right now to do IF again.

    The hype is manufactured
Since you have to have diabetes to get this prescribed and everyone is taking it for fat loss it just means there are a lot of crooked doctors and pharmacists doing it out of the kindness of their hearts

The tldr is heavily processed foods mess with your body’s natural ability to feel full, and these GLP1 drugs make you feel full again.

I think the average weight loss is actually pretty modest, at around 1lb a week, but, if you’re like boogie2988 or something, the sheer decline in stroke and heart attack risk is probably worth it.

Non-pharmaceutical intervention is preferable, but if it isn’t working, this may be an alternative

Because it kills all desire and makes you eat less. You will be the perfect wage slave and not even require much feeding. People can derive no pleasure from many things any more besides eating. People quit crazy stuff like drinking, biting nails, shopping, traveling, sex. Also, you take it forever or you gain the weight back.
