Why does?

Why does SighSee like Philadelphia so much? I've never seen a community more positive about it. Most people don't talk about it or just say it's poor/dirty. Is it actually worth checking out?

Philly is what Portland, Austin, Denver, etc were 15-20 years ago. Cheap and on the verge of mass gentrification.

wouldn't be the worst investment if things keep going the way they are. the remote guys are starting to wisen up and there's a mass exodus from the more expensive parts of the country. its not a bad B tier city and you can smell the hipster money flooding the place. Philly, and a couple of other midwest places are coming up in this next cycle. Cleveland is another one, just because of the Intel factory being built there, but that might be too late.

uh huh, and there's no way blue badges are commuting two hours because of stupid high property values anywhere near a fab. sure.

I know a WFH couple who bought a brownstone there during covid, I bought in NYC because I don't know anyone down there (other than acquaintances) but I think financially Philly is probably a sounder decision from a capital appreciation point of view. There's more to life than money but if you can swing life in a new city without too much stress I say go for it, you'd have to be pretty dumb to pass up free money if there's no real cost to your mental health

so were Denver and Portland. until the white money flooded in. North Denver and North Portland used to be black only, now they are $500k+ houses.

Philly doesn't have the draw theat Denver (mountains, legal weed) and Portland (escape zone from California) had

idk wtf are people smoking in /trv saying its a great city. Philly is just b-more's cousin + bunch of hoff-twin clones running around chasing black booty + some of the worst sports fans in the US. stand up comedians go there to die. It's so easy to hate philly.

I love living near Philly. I can drive or take the train in whenever. There's a lot of cool shit to do. However, the city is absolutely infested with Black folk. Granted, that's hardly a unique trait for American cities, but some areas are fricking rough. They take it from being a great city to one I just like to pop into for a day every once in awhile.

I went to few different cities on the east coast D.C. Philly, Boston and Philadelphia was without a doubt the biggest shit hole I’ve ever been in. Old dirty and homeless people everywhere. Not sure if it could’ve changed for the good in the last 5 years because everything in America keeps getting worse but I wouldn’t go out of your way to see it. MAYBE a Friday Saturday Sunday type thing but beyond that no
