Worst - American Airlines is a trashy flying bus with ugly stewardesses. I flew from Chicongo to Helsinki and it was miserable.
Best - AirBaltic; clean, very efficient, good service and super comfy.

Yep. Using skyscanner or expedia or whateve is fine to compare airlines, but buying through a 3rd party is a recipe for disaster. That being said I did buy through some shit called studentuniverse which gave a pretty good discount and I didn't have any issues. You have to be a student.

I actually like Ryanair. Not because they provide good service or anything like that, but because they are cheap and have enabled me to see much of Europe for sometimes as little as 20€. That's absolutely nothing. They also have an excellent track record of not falling down and not killing everyone on board, which impressive considering they are the Europe's busiest airline and the 5th busiest airline in the world. I've also never had any issues with refunds or with my tickets. It's always been a case of buying my ticket, getting the right luggage and boarding. I couldn't give a single fuck about great service on board, free food or any other frills while flying for what is usually less than 4 hours. I wouldn't even give a shit if I had to take a 12 hour flight like this - I care more about the destination and getting there safely than some temporary comforts. I think I'd probably still fly bum airlines like Ryanair even if I had fuckloads of money. The only way I could see myself flying a fancy airline is if there is absolutely no alternative and if I am flying every single week. I prefer trains anyways if I can help it and it makes sense.

I got scarred for life by Ryanair when I took a flight to London a few years ago. After we've landed people got up and queued for the exit only to find out that the doors are stuck. While flight attendants were trying to open them for good 20 minutes I had to sit all crawled up next to a window in an overcrowded plane, completely unable to move and not getting any reception on my phone. And that's when I've discovered I got claustrophobia - had a low intensity panic attack and only one thought in my head going on repeat - "I need to get out of here". Stayed away from Ryanair since then.

Absolutely based. Ryanair isn’t just good for their prices which are unironically maybe the best in the world for distance/cost ratio, but their frequency of flights, number of destinations (in Europe obviously) and ease of travel just puts everyone and everything else to shame.

If you get a €15 flight with Ryanair and have the nerve to complain about any extras you’re a fucking retard

Sadly airfares have blown up in prices. Even then Ryanair is still cheaper, but not quite what it used to be. I hope it goes back down eventually.

That's like saying Aldi or Lidl are the best supermarkets because they have a lot of stores across Europe and are cheap. When it comes to the quality of the flight Ryanair is unremarkable at best and shoddy at worst.

Who gives a shit? Overpampered pussy.

            >t. poorfag

Sorry, where did I suggest that Ryanair had the "best quality" flights or anything like that? We're looking at the airline as a whole.

For the record though, there's a Lidl near me, there's literally nothing wrong with the food and the funny part is most of the time they're getting it from the same supplier as the other major chains.

The way that certain people act around Ryanair always makes me laugh. It reminds me of a woman I worked with once, I remember someone brought up Ryanair and she remarked how she'd never fly with them and how trash they were and how it was only for poor folks, whilst she'd only ever consider flying Emirates or some other brownoid oil airline. Turns out she had never flown before, in fact never even left the country. Reality was she was a single mother with a half black mutt child with no father in sight.

Exactly, quality is the part you left out and Ryanair is frankly shit to the point that the convenience is barely even worth it. If I wanted to go to some shithole resort in Spain or Portugal then Ryanair tends to be the main or only option, but for any other location you can get a better airline (and it doesn't need to be Emirates) and you don't pay massive amounts more for it. Their policies on baggage, the attitude of their staff, the absent leg room and their selection of airports in certain cities (which is to say miles away) is to the point that paying €20 for a ticket is barely worth it unless you're cheap or a student.

              >frankly shit to the point that the convenience is barely even worth it.
How though? Yeah, you don't get extra added frills but why do you need that on a 2-3 hour flight?

              >but for any other location you can get a better airline (and it doesn't need to be Emirates) and you don't pay massive amounts more for it.
Yeah, if you're a once a year holiday-maker that's fine, if you're a regular flyer then it's a bit different. This year I've been to 5 countries in Europe which is 10 flights. I paid anywhere from £15 - 30 for each one. If I'm looking at BA for example (which by the way I've had far worse experiences with than Ryanair) I'm looking at paying £80-140 each flight which is way, way more money over the scheme of things, and for what?

I've literally never had a delay with Ryanair. Never had a problem with the baggage. Never had a problem with the legroom (I'm 6'0 btw). Never had a problem with the staff. Why the fuck do I need to pay for a "higher quality flight" lmao. You're literally burning money (that's if you actually travel regularly because my moneys on you don't) because you think you're above muh Ryanair, it's really pathetic honestly lmao.

              >their selection of airports in certain cities (which is to say miles away)
Literally have more airport coverage than every other airline in the UK lmfao

I can absolutely guarantee I've got more money than you and you're the exact sort of person I honestly despise with a passion.

How far in advance are you buying tickets to get them for that low? I've only flown Ryanair since starting my travels a couple of months ago but it's cost me about £150 return on average (still the cheapest) and that's buying about 1 month before I go.
                Or is it the destination?

                Anonymous

Totally depends on the destination, time of year, how popular the route is, how many other airlines fly there, as well as the airport you’re going from.

If there are seats to fill, Ryanair want a full plane and they’ll drop the prices as low as possible. Example is I flew to Budapest recently, super popular destination and a fuck load of low cost carriers fly there almost daily. Booked my flight 3 months in advance and got my tickets for £15 each way.

Other carriers might sell those cheap tickets for £80 each way, but will only fill half a plane or less.

If it’s a high demand route, in season and there aren’t many spaces left, the prices will fly up. That same flight could be as much as £450 each way a week before, no joke.

If you’re open to going anywhere, happy to travel to whatever airport they want you to go to and give it a decent amount of time, Ryanair will work out insanely cheap compared to everyone else.

Your analogy doesn't make any sense. It depends on the country where you are buying the food in. In Bongistan food is absolute garbage compared to Italy for example. Especially raw produce. It doesn't really matter if you shop in Aldi or M&S. You can't compare it to an Airline lmao. The standards are completely different for a nation that thinks that shoving vegetables and meat on the same platter in oven for the same time makes a great dinner. Ryanair is pretty much the same everywhere, it tends to be 2 staff from departing country and then 2 foreigners from what I've seen.

You haven't flown Ryanair in the past 5 years then. They are very lax about luggage these days. The bags are often technically over the volume limit. Never once have they measured the supposed 10kg limit. It's only when retards, probably like you, show up with three bags when the ticket clearly says one small bag and then complain muh small allowance. It's very clear. You're paying fuck all, did you expect them to just accept it? I've never once had any negative interaction with any of the Ryanair staff. I've noticed they have a lot of younger hostesses, some pretty hot.
              >airport selection
sometimes it's shit, but usually its whatever airport that city has. In Paris it's not great and in Milan it can be Bergamo or Malpensa. MPX is much closer.

Your whole richfag and muh finer things larp is completely misinformed and coming from old memes about Ryanair.

I've flown with Ryanair as recently as last year I know what it's like. They introduced the whole "pay for cabin luggage" shit that now other (better) airlines are even doing, a complete lowering of standards and a rip-off. I'm sorry I don't want to support their shitty practices that drag down the airline experience.

                Anonymous

With priority included it is still much cheaper than any other airline and the destinations are unmatched. I rarely get priority as one small backpack holds enough clothes, toiletries and electronics to go on short term trips. The prices have overall increased, but it isn't a Ryanair trend, it is the entire market having bloated prices for flying. I can't think of a situation where I would rather book a much pricier option for the same route. For me it's all the same; I don't give a fuck about the flight, just get me there safely, and the destination is what I care about.

This is the mindset I have now that the Golden Age is dead. But I confess I was happy when Wowair went bankrupt; when they were operating trans-Atlantic flights for $400 RT of course that was the smart and obvious choice. But now that they're gone I fly Delta and it feels like first fucking class to board at a reasonable hour and cruise through the clouds drinking unlimited booze and enjoying films or comfy sleep. We'll always sacrifice experience if we can save a few bucks, but we should appreciate that comfort when we can.

I have found that they can be late to depart, but they typically catch up to the original time while flying. There are specific amounts of time for delays where you can get compensated for it, so airlines will always avoid being late. In '20 I was going to board a flight to Tbilisi with Wizzair, but the boarding gear had gotten fucked up and there a delay for 2 and half hours. Somehow they caught up midflight and I checked the times and it wasn't log enough to demand compensation that was legally due.
        >20
I remember when I was too young to fly people would shittalk Ryanair all the time as they did everything to trip you into extra fees. How was it back then? Think a lot of the reputation is from those times. Also boomers going from when flying was a luxury to the equivalent of the Flixbus in the sky.

The worst I’ve ever been on was Tunisia air or whatever their national airline is. The plane was filthy, the headrests covered in grime and the male airline attendant actually went round before takeoff spraying the Tunisians with deodorant without even asking them or caring what they said, as they all stank of rancid sweat. The airport at Tunisi was also disgusting, with the toilets swimming in piss and shit.
The best (not luxurious)but best value for money and consistently above par is Turkish surprisingly enough.

cost of flying in poorer nations I expect.. had a similar thing happen on Air Vanuatu. Guy sat down next to me, smelling like he hadn't bathed in a week after running a marathon. turned out he was a nice enough guy, was taking plant trimmings to his cousin on another island as a wedding gift. I was nose deaf for the rest of the day though

in saying that, the flight staff are really sweet. the in-flight snacks were water or red cordial, and whatever you wanted from the tray of allens lollies. it was actually really cute

Worst is Spirit, Frontier or another budget one like that. They rarely have planes or staff on standby. So if your trip's plane or staff gets stranded somewhere, you're going to be delayed. These cheap airlines also tend to bring out the lowest that society has to offer. It's like Walmart in the sky.

The best are the more expensive national brands like United, for the exact opposite of the reasons I wrote above.

Spirit merges with Frontier. You can't make this shit up. The two absolute worst airlines become one gigantic clusterfuck. They cancelled like 1/3 of their routes so I don't know if that's improved anything

I flew on an airline in Mozambique, not LAM but their knockoff domestic service, and the pilot strolled onboard late, in shorts, flipflops, sunglasses, and an unbuttoned shirt and just cranked the plane up and taxied out for takeoff like he was taking his car for a drive.
