Wtf I was just in Philly and like a quarter of the city was just an undeveloped wasteland. What a weird place.

Use Street view and go back to the past. You will see it was an industrial area full of chimneys.

Do they have any plans for it or is it too toxic? They could do some cool shit if they built it from the ground up. It's a massive death of land

        https://whyy.org/articles/hilco-construction-south-philly-refinery-site-groundbreaking/
        >Hilco Development Partners plan to develop a 750-acre industrial and logistics complex on the southern part of the site and a 250-acre “Innovation Campus” on the northern portion. The company has mentioned likely uses including cold storage, last-mile delivery facilities, regional logistics, light manufacturing, and research and development, focused, for example, on pharmaceuticals.

Basically it's going to be a bunch of giant low-rise buildings. Nothing particularly sexy.

It was one of the largest oil refineries in the country. It shut down after a fire and did not reopen, due to political pressure.

That was an oil refinery that exploded in 2019 in the middle of the night. Straight up looked like a nuke went off.

I didn't really, but there's cool stuff like an abandoned tunnels that nobody notices are there straight through CC. Worked for UPS at one point, and there's a crazy private tunnel system under a lot of center city (not talking about the concourse, I mean private vehicle tunnels). Graffiti pier is very cool.
But I don't recommend "urban exlporing" there. Philly's a cool enough city you can see more interesting stuff than abandoned industrial crap.
