$10k to live for one year

i'm doing my master's by research which allows me to study remotely. drop suggestions for places where i can have my own place (studio, probably) and eat for 10k over 12 calendar months. don't care all that much about comfort, the more unusual the better. hard mode -> no SEA, it's boring and i've done it to death. i'm currently thinking india, tunisia, or egypt

Interesting, I was shitposting but didn't know that. Would have thought different after years of bombs.

    >india
    Dont do it
    >tunisia
Going through some economic problems and North Africa isn't looking too safe right now
    >Egypt
Here's your best bet. Was at a tailspin for a while and prices hiked for a minute but it is recovering and the Arabian sheiks are looking to work with them on some good shit
A lot of ME is on a boom period right now actually, but you'll need to adjust to the dry hot weather and it's not for everyone

i've actually been to egypt a few times, it's looking like a good option. particularly as i speak a decent bit of arabic and would like to get it to fluency as well. really don't like egyptians, though, and cairo is quite shit.

Why not choose Lebanon over Egypt? In addition to having fewer/no Egyptians (the worst part of Egypt), Lebanon also has better women and a better culture with fewer crazies.

Lebanon's in a very dire state right now, would not recommend to visit.

How do you do a master’s by research? I’ve never encountered an American program that allows this.

I just did mine in Australia. It was possible because I had already undertaken an honours thesis in a related field.

Tried to think of safe non conflict places with low cost of living, easy entry, and interesting.

        >Kyrgzystan gdp per capita: 1,276.70 USD
so can i like flash a $20 and have people think I'm super rich there?

Well, pretty much. You can have meat skewers for 80 cents of dolar. Eat a whole meal for $3. 1 litre of freshly squeezed cherry juice for $1.50. Taxi rides around the city for $1 or take a bus for 10 cents. I took a 5 hours cab from Bishkek to Toktogul for $7 (while in Georgia, a 40 mins taxi costed me $45). Unlimited data sim card for $6/month as a tourist. I ate a surprisingly good sushi in Toktogul for $2.

Kyrgyzstan is the best country in Central Asia, cost/benefit. Uzbekistan is also cheap but the internet is WAY worse and the country is poorer, Tajikistan is not as cheap, Kazakhstan is nice and more developed but waaaay more expensive. Turkomenistan is a meme.

Prices went up last year but the cost/benefit ratio is still great

Morocco, Sri Lanka, Peru, Papua New Guinea (or any of the Pacific Islands NE of Australia) would be reasonable.

I'm wondering where in Rabat that photo is meant to be? I never saw any part of Rabat that looked like that - looks like Croatia/Italy?

Yeah, there's no way that's Rabat. The coast of Rabat looks nothing like that (it's missing too much trash and rubble)

    Depends on what you like.

But all honestly, if you choose anywhere but any of the ex-Yugo country, you are moronic.

Brazil. Rent will be about 300$ a month. Don't live in the North. Go South. Mostly white people there, and still cool places to visit.
    > But I'll get mugged
If you walk around like you're still in a first world country you'll get mugged in any of the other countries you've mentioned just as often. Just don't be a moron and you can enjoy Brazilian beaches, b***hes and all kinds of other shit for not much at all. Minimum wage in Brazil is 300$ btw

I was told that Brazil is actually very expensive for South American standards.

It is also the most developed one. If you go to the others, your experience will be somehow even worse than Brazil. If you prefer that, then it is on you

Basically anywhere. I'm gonna go do exactly this in Japan and South Korea, you can get accomodations for under $500 a month. Eastern Europe, MENA and South America (and SEA/south asia of course) are bustling with countries where you can very easily live for under $10k

And how exactly do you go about obtaining the visa to live in those 2 countries?

Oman or yemen or lebanon since its in economic colapse and so everything should be dirt cheap. Of course non of these places are safe but you said you wanted cheap.
