I have a flight on Air Canada next week.

    Why is it so shit?

In my experience it's actually pretty good, not as good as Air Etihad but way better than WestJet or fricking Air Transat (worst)

      Jackass

Its an airline run by fricking canadians, what do you expect?

They israelite you for basics like checked bags, the aircraft is cramped and musty, the inflight meal for a transatlantic flight is served half-frozen, & the inflight entertainment consists of marvel capeshit.

In my experience it's actually pretty good, not as good as Air Etihad but way better than WestJet or fricking Air Transat (worst)

At least Westjet doesnt play a fricking unskippable 15 minutes of commercials over the cabin speakers & entertainment screens before the flight takes off. That was fricking orwellian

But don't all Euro airlines squeeze an extra seat in every row (3-3-4) out of contemptuous greed, thus rendering them mid tier at best?

JAL is king for economy, especially the 787s:
2-4-2 layout and wider seat pitch than competitors, and also very cute FAs

Finnair recently really got israelited up to the max, and now even their premium economy product has worse carryon allowance than Ryanair.

    Great: JAL, ANA
Good: long haul KLM (pleasantly surprised), Qantas
Good but could be better: Air France (both long and mid), Austrian (mid haul), SAS (mid haul)
    Nothing noteworthy: Icelandair, Czech.
Not good: Air China (brand new planes, good allowance but everything else is either mediocre or crap)
Absolute shit: none so far. I avoid budget.

I fly every week, using the 2 same airlines so I no longer give too much shit as long as I can sleep and read.

      >Nothing noteworthy: Icelandair,
the noteworthy thing about icelandair is they offer (or at least, used to) one of the cheapest ways to get from europe to the usa in business class. of course it is indirect via reykjavik but it's not too much of a chore. when i travelled a lot i had the top tier in their frequent flyer club despite never having actually been to iceland
      >Shit tier:
      >AirAsia
air asia are pretty good for what they are, i.e. a cheap way to fly around countries within asia. you just need to set your expectations accordingly. i have used them to get from KL to singapore, laos, cambodia etc. of course you need to book the "hot seats" ahead of time
anyway here's my list (as someone who usually uses business class)
great: most middle eastern, asian airlines
      good: most european airlines
      rubbish: most american airlines

    >Wizzair
    best low cost by far
spacious and lets you have the moat luggage
    >Ryanair and Easyjet
will scam you at every opportunity
wprth it for the low cost, but never trust them or need them for anything more complicated
    >TAP
shit always late also a drain on the economy

I've never gotten any extra fees. Just read bag allowances and check in prior dumbass. These days they let people yo well above the limit for cabin bags as long as you're not bringing a full blown 70l hiking backpacks. To get "scammed" by Ryanair you got to have double digit IQ.

I've had a really good experience with Lufthansa on the 5 European flights I've taken. They are really good about not charging for overweight bags. They serve multiple meals and snacks on the international flights. You get free headphones. Every seat has a movie screen built into the headrest with a lot of new movies. And the German international passengers are really well behaved, which was something I had never considered until I flew with a bunch of French motherfrickers into Geneva one time and people were pushing and shoving and acting like Black folks. The one time I had aa delay with Lufthansa was when a passenger had a heart attack on the plane. We diverted back to Chicago on an international flight and I lost 8 hours. But I submitted a refund request after we got back and they refunded the whole price of the roundtrip ticket plus money for the extra day in a hotel. After that, I'm only flying Lufthansa.

Delta and Air Canada weren't really all that different honestly, I just don't particularly like listening to French people over the announcements.
