Anyone love dirty gutter cities? My favorite three cities:
>Mumbai
>Saigon
>Istanbul
Besides Istanbul, they were all safe-ish. Any recommendations? Have one last vacation solo before I have a family.

Camden, NJ
without AAs please, open to Sub-Saharan Africa though
Camden was one of my first travel destinations back in 2013. The place is a wreck, yes, but it didn't have to be. It used to be a nice city, like many others, but then blacks were given the freedom to do as they pleased.
Third World cities are dirty & smelly for valid reasons, such as lack of sewer access. Street restaurants flushing food-laden washwater into the gutter is polluting and unsanitary, but what else can they do?
Wew lad at least suggest somewhere reasonable like Mogadishu or Baghdad.
>New Delhi
For the cooming.
Anywhere in Central America is a hot dirty fricking shithole, but safe-ish. Stick to the cities if you want the filth and wienerroaches, meat stalls with flies covering everything. The coastal areas are too clean and filled with trustfunders and boomers.
How fat and young are the street gutter women is what I'm sayin, nomsayin?
You find thick moms in the brothels. The taxi drivers should know at least one. They're not even businesses, just dirty family homes that mom turns tricks in, maybe a daughter or sister but they're going to be gross too.
Guatemala City is absolutely not safe in large swaths of it.
vancouver canada
no
specific countries and places? South America has left a bad taste in my mouth
Stop swallowing the giant wieners then
It's all the same grungy shit in any city from Belize down to Costa Rica. People say Costa Rica is nice, but their capital is just gross. Once to get to the beaches it all turns into backpackers and tourists, and the locals keep the gangs from fricking with them.
Dhaka, Bangladesh
Manila, Philippines
Vorkuta, Russia
Stolipinovo, Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Luník IX, Kosice, Slovakia
Scampia, Naples, Italy
Kanpur, India
Asunción, Paraguay
Cracolândia, São Paulo, Brazil
Agbogbloshie, Accra, Ghana
Guiyu, China
Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Makoko, Lagos, Nigeria
Monrovia, Liberia
Nairobi, Kenya
Mansheya Nasir, Cairo, Egypt
Port au Prince, Haiti
thats a very very nice list anon, thanks.
Istanbul is edgy to you?
>Istanbul
>not safe-ish
What
Where the frick were you based, Tarlabasi?
>Where the frick were you based, Tarlabasi?
Even so, it's safe there and probably more so in recent years with the gentrification. Aksaray always felt the seediest to me and that was still safe, just migrant-ish. Quite a clean city on the whole too, cleaner than a lot of UK cities at least.
Not him, but stayed in Tarlabaşı for a couple weeks in 2020, kek. I'd made a long-term Airbnb booking in another part of the city and needed somewhere to stay until it opened up. Location looked like a proper ghetto, but didn't have any issues with anyone or anything the entire time I was staying there. Most annoying part was the owner and his Ukrainian girlfriend constantly getting drunk and screaming at each other in the courtyard.
Taksim Square
Right?
This list I approve of a little more. There are villages worse than Luník IX close to Kosice, btw. To be fair... At least in Guiyu or Luník IX you don't have to fear for your life at all, so it could be worse. They leave tourists alone, unless you're very actively being an butthole.
You need some East Euro shitholes. Chisinau, Moldova is a favorite of mine. Also good and mostly scummy, but quite small, would be Prishtina, Kosovo. Skopje, Macedonia is trying to spiff itself up, but it’s still Balkan gutter a few centimeters under the surface.
Most Black Sea beach towns are pretty sleazy, too, in a way I find fairly charming. Families grilling and drinking beer on oceanfront piles of busted concrete instead of real beaches. Many big resorts, though, so the vibe is different from other types of shithole.
>Istanbul in the same post as Saigon and Mumbai.
Haven't been to Mumbai but Saigon is an actual shithole and fitting of your list. Istanbul is not.
Aww cmon, saigon isnt thaat bad okay
At least it has functioning sidewalks, good but not great stores, and several worthwhile places to visit. After a week of struggling to go for a walk in fillipino cities with zero space for pedestrians saigon seemed like paradise by comparison
Saigon was much worse 5 years ago. Things have definitely improved but it's still bad. Bangkok is also a shithole. Full of rats and garbage everywhere. However unlike Saigon Bangkok doesn't seem to be improving
The rats are like citizens in Saigon. I was walking around at night and a rat was eating some garbage in the middle of the sidewalk. I walked up and poked him with my toe and he just gave me a dirty look then went back to eating.
