I live 10 min outside the city and almost never go there.

the most popular spot in recent years has been a place called optimist hall. it's basically a bunch of food trucks that were recruited to open up indoor shops in a mall setting. lots of the young affluent people ordering $20 tacos. I say this not to recommend, but to show you there is little to seek out.

Can confirm. I had shitty fricking dumplings for $18. Trash beer from trendy breweries as well. Oh and don't forget to tip!

it's funny when cities that have gone against livable city planning for years wonder why the city sucks. Texas cities experiencing the same thing right now

NC gay here... charlotte is soulless. Sport teams suck, traffic sucks, the local college sucks. Overrated places for yuppies and ugly cougars.... Black don't come!

bumping just because I'm a NC gay. I live 2 hrs out in a pretty rural area and was wondering if there were any cool things to do there too.

      >and ugly cougars
What's the coom scene like in Charlotte? I'd take a half way decent cougar...

        >What's the coom scene like in Charlotte?

There are lots of single/divorced/"separated" women in their 40s making $150k a year.

        >went on date with divorced indian vegetarian age 40. She was making $150k at one of the bank headquarters as a software developer. she had been working there 6 months and hadn't written a single line of code. she said her boss was always apologizing to her for not having any work for her to do.

        >went on date with 49 year old hot blonde 9/10. She was debating leaving her corporate career to become a luxury real estate agent after seeing her friend so it. She didn't want the "downgrade" in pay to $160k.

I haven't found a way into any of the cooler hipster scenes of charlotte where I could date college/grad school girls. Maybe I should start going to local concerts or something? any advice on establishing a friend group is appreciated.

I'd say that would be your best bet. Anything with an artsy alt scene. Maybe edm clubs or something, at least that's what I want to try. But just as a forewarning I'm in the same boat as you.

What's a city like this without any black people?

Cold cities, pretty much the entirety of VT, NH, and Maine

Knoxville is probably the closest match. It was far fewer blacks than other cities of similar size.

Incredibly boring here, but I can count on one hand how many times I've interacted with a black person in several months. Airport is close, not bad, and decent nature around here. Mold is real bad though and causes me to have dandruff twice a year. Never happened before this place.

Be more specific about 'like this' and what you like about it. If you just mean big-ish American city than unironically Portland, OR

If you look at any US city within 50 miles of the Pacific Ocean, you'll see most places are only 5-8% black, well below virtually all East Coast Cities. If you've ever been to both sides, you'll know the difference....lotsa people will jag on Hispanics, but they tend to be MUCH less violent than blacks, especially sudden unplanned violence.
