Cheap places to visit

I want to go visit at least one foreign country in the next year, but on a budget of max 2k dollars since its kind of hard to save money in my country. Doesnt matter the country as long as it would be an enjoyable experience, 3rd world countries accepted too as long as the chances of getting decapitated or trafficked are low. Any suggestions for cheap and cool places?

    where you're from matters
    if americas, yucatan
    if europe, anywhere + hostels
    if asia, anywhere + hostels
    if oceania, SEA
if africa/MENA, go to europe if possible + hostels

your budget, assuming you'll spend less than a month there, isn't low for a solo traveler

    Thx for the answer

    Im from europe
and regarding the budget i like to know I have more than enough money on me so I can enjoy myself and not look at the price tags so often. i think 2k feels different in sweden than it does in moldova if you know what i mean.

If you're in Europe, flights are cheap, likely under $100
Idk about everywhere in Europe but hostels in Stockholm are $22 a night, so less than $200 for a week
Let's say transit is $100 for buses/trains/subway/airport shuttle
Food is $200 if you eat out a bit
There, that's a week long stay in Sweden for $600

literally just go to google flights and try to find cheap flights in the off season, then search those places with cheap flights to see if you can find cheap accommodation

Which is better for an American to visit for a week: Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Belize, or Dominican Republic? Gay white guy in his 30s here, just enjoy scenic places and hiking solo/going to the beach

Costa Rica. Or one of the safer parts of Mexico like Baja. Hiking around mainland Mexico can be sketchy though beaches usually aren't. Panama doesn't really have good beaches unless you go to some offshore islands. Belize is hot and flat and kinda boring. DR might be ok but I'd go to CR, it's very scenic. And probably the most liberal/gay friendly latam country.

Thanks for the suggestions. I speak beginner-to-conversational level Spanish as well as English of course. I should add that I do photography with an expensive camera and want to avoid dangerous situations. Also, my dad is retiring this year and is looking for a place to potentially retire and buy a house in, so the trip could potentially double as a scouting trip. I’m in Texas but would not want to drive down into Mexico.

Why tf is that appealing? If you want to be around sodomites, go to California.

My gay friend went to El Salvador and had a good time hiking/going to the beach there, it's gotten a lot safer recently

It does matter which country, anon. A long flight (from Belarus to Thailand, for example) will eat up the majority of your $2000 travel budget, so you will want to travel someplace not too far from where you live. IMO, it's bullshit to spend $1500 on a flight and then only have $500 to spend in the destination country - but many wagecucks are only allowed to escape their prison for a very short time. Also, danger is fun. Stop being a pussy.

You're getting ripped off horribly if your flight to Thailand from Europe is $1500.
The tiniest bit of date flexibility and you can easily go under $700.

homie just go wherever. 2k for a week is plenty, especially if you can just fly Ryanair. If you don't wany price tag heart attacks don't do Scandi, don't do Switzerland. The rest is up to you.
