In this thread an A is a city you have a good time everytime you go, or a city you feeling you could repeatedly go back to. Try not to shit talk cities in this thread, instead post a city that meets this criteria. I'll start Prague has alot of character and good beer that always satisfys me
Tip Your Landlord Shirt $21.68 |
Also I enjoy Franz Kafka and always try to read.one of his books before going just to get in the mood
Fave Kafka? I love 'The Trial.'
Probably the trial too. I love metamorphosis and the castle has a great setting but think Trial outdoes them all. In the Penal colony is also great. Haven't read Amerika but will one day.
>Amerika
You can just listen to the Tonio K. album instead
Everyone says it's a shithole but I really liked Barcelona. It's like Europe's answer to miami or something.
Went to Barcelona once and definitely had a good time. Met up with friends studying abroad there. Fun being with people who'd never travelled before
Yeah, There's a good atmosphere there. If it wasn't a shithole and full of "refugees", It would be god tier.
I’d say Madrid for Spain. I really, really had a great time there last January. Great food, great drinks, many many things to do.
Dude Madrid is the Toronto of Spain. There is food and things to do but it's the same shit available everywhere else.
Nope. I had great Spanish food that you cannot find outside of Spain. And the food markets and halls are absoluteky beautiful.
The Prado museum is great, the Royal palace is stunning, the streets are lively, the architecture is beautiful. It’s a great city, Spanish food is absolutely underrated, overall, it was great.
Guernica was way bigger than expected
Spanish food is definitely not great to the point that Spaniards living next to the Portuguese border prefer to eat in our restaurants. I always find Spaniards complimenting our food but never seen any Portuguese complimenting theirs
>implying Spanish food is all the same around the country
I like Nice. It's chill, great food, the town is very nice to walk around, and in the summer you can just enjoy the weather.
sounds pretty NICE
I don't get it.
Seconding Nice, even the bad parts of Nice aren't as bad as other cities in France.
Plus you have quick access to many nice places along the coast without being forced to pay for accommodation there.
>St. Petersburg (Russia)
It was built from the ground up by Tsar Peter the Great for the purpose of outdoing every other European capital in magnificence. The Hermitage is the best art museum in the world as well.
The best or Russia blends with the best of the West
Except it was leveled during WW2
I am not sure it is a good idea to go to Russia at this time.
Da Nang
/thread
redpill me on da nang
>Sydney but in Vietnam
I found Da Nang was just a bunch of rectangular buildings trying to be New York but without all the cool stuff about New York. And depending on what population we're allowing to call a city, I think Hue was the nicest city in Vietnam. It had a different tone to other Vietnamese cities, more melancholy and gray, and filled with alleyways with little cafes and nice things like that. It probably helped that it rained in Hue the whole time I was there, but I felt like I was walking around in a real life noir film during the day.
Ho Chi Minh city has a special place in my heart though, looking from the rooftop to that sea of buildings always gets me. All the hustle bustle and all the food stalls and the people selling dried squid from their bicycle, it's a busy place but I really like it.
Not really sure why you'd pick Da Nang over anything else tbh.
He is on crack. Hue is lovely and even Hot An (as touristy as it is) is really nice. Pretty, easy to stroll around, rent a bike and go out to the laid back beach bars on the coast etc.
Memphis
What did you like about Memphis anon? I know people who've said Nashville was a crazy party town. I be never been to either
I've been the Memphis and there's literally nothing there except for that one statue of Ramses II
heheheh
Malta
Rome (even if its full with crime and homeless people, history is fricking amazing)
Budapest
Soon going to Spain, could be updated
>Malta
Just went to Malta, hope to explore more of the island one day
Rio de Janeiro
Going there later this week, any recommendations?
Was there two months ago, heading back again tomorrow actually. Fun island, but frick knows what sort of schedule those buses run on.
>Rome full of crime
Really? I visited a month a ago for a week and felt really safe all the time basically.
Sure there's a lot of pajeets trying to sell you trash but it's really tourist lvl 1 stuff to ignore and stay away from.
Moscow
Budapest
Tbilisi
Melbourne
Berlin
Lisbon
Tokyo
in terms of cities, can't think of much better than those
No City is an "A" because cities are filthy.
That said, Black folk like
are clearly subhuman.
Why even come into this thread incel? Autists like you can stay in your small town safe places
this meme picture always seemed cozy to me. reminds me of my road trips between michigan and texas, passing through indiana, kentucky, tennessee and arkansas. Long stretches of driving through beautiful, open country. Nothing but me and the road and gf, listening to our favorite albums or podcasts. Strips like this were a comfy place to pull off, fill up on gas, catch a cheap bite to eat in a familiar setting, and everyone around you is doing the same. I never understood why this image is recycled as an insult.... you can even see luscious trees in the background, I bet this "hell hole" is surrounded by scenic nature and wholesome rural living.
its gay and soulless to have taco bells and McDonalds in every fricking town in America. imagine how much more interesting shit would be if there were little diners or a good little taco place instead
Hey guys i found the /misc/tard
>Berlin
>Berlin
>Melbourne
Into the trash please
Athens
budapest
berlin
leblon/ipanema (rest of rio sucks)
Hong Kong beats everywhere else I've been. I want to go back someday
It will never be the same again, anon…
I can dream
Krakow, cheap and clean.
Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdansk are very nice cities. Lots of things to do, friendly folks around.
Plovdiv is really cool. I should go back.
I would add Lviv to the list. Super cheap, great restaurants and bars. Interesting history and architecture. Not sure how it is nowadays.
as a non white do u think its alright to visit
Yes as long as you're not some pube faced nafri
thanks im asian but look a lot more like south american
Yes. I'm not sure why people even think to ask this.
Honestly I know i'm gonna get shit and you can fight me but the only city I can think of that I would happily return to over and over again is New York. I actually love that city, maybe its because i'm from London and New York is like London jacked up on steroids but it really is quite spectacular. Some of the architecture like the pre ww2 skyscrapers are some of the most unique buildings in the world, can find cheap food like dollar slices, atmosphere is buzzing, I feel like I can pretty much talk to anyone which you dont really get in european cities
Fine if you like rats
and the smell of piss on the subway
and the trash littered around the streets of brooklyn
berlin
safer than london
Plovdiv
Not memeing. It really is very cool.
Mexico City
San Diego
Barcelona
Vienna
Gonna 2nd San Diego. Got the metropolitan vibe, and the beach towns north of it are good for that little beach town feel. Great beer and just a good vibe most places you go
QRD on brussels?
delicious beer, Grand Place is beautiful, some pretty buildings outside there, the rest of it is dirty. 2 nights should be sufficient.
Am from there
Not good for conventional tourism but good if ever you’re there for 3-6 month stay for a course or internship. Most of the euro trash interns have the time of their lives here, same for students who come to study.
I don't tend to think about going back to cities regularly (maybe twice if i want to get to what I missed and no more than 4 days) but Tokyo and Osaka are two I would consider breaking that rule for.
Tokyo
Seoul
Hong Kong (last visited 2018 pre-troubles)
Singapore
Osaka
Bangkok (doesn’t hold up in all regards compared to the others, but still A rank)
Amsterdam
Sydney
thats it
Tokyo
Kyoto
Osaka
Hong Kong
There are potential european ones like Berlin but overal I find asian ones to be superior.
I have literal hundreds of favorites around the world, including a lot of big cities/heavy hitters, including but not limited to London, NYC, Paris (unironically), Hanoi (like it much more than HCMC, both for atmosphere and climate), San Francisco (haters gonna hate, and its problems are real and serious, but what it does well it does unlike anywhere else; I lived there for twenty years and will always love it even if I don’t intend to move back), Lisbon, Hong Kong, Mexico City, maybe Amsterdam (only been a couple of times and not in years, but I really like it and don’t even smoke weed or hang out with prostitutes), etc.
But to focus on smaller places, which I often prefer to the biggest and/or most famous:
1. Lucca, IT: the walled old center is charming, artsy, bikeable, and overall very pleasant. Several excellent restaurants.
2. Luzern, CH: Maybe my favorite large Swiss town, although I also like Bern and Locarno quite a bit. Offers much more to a tourist than the Swiss city I live in (and also love). Wonderful lake.
3. Nong Khai, Thailand: Not a city, but a bustling Mekongside border town that has been one of my favorite places in Asia for decades. Nakhon Phanom is similar and frankly even nicer in some ways, but it’s not on the rail line so it loses a point.
4. Vientiane, Laos: Too many cars and motorcycles nowadays; I liked it better in 1995 when it was an almost silent village. But I like the fact that it isn’t the place the tourists come to see even if they do pass through, and the old parts of town are still really pretty.
5. Oaxaca, Mexico: In my opinion, the best-preserved and cleanest historical center in the country.
6. Northampton, MA: I am biased because this is the part of the world where I was born, but I always welcome the chance to get back there. Hyper-liberal New England college town full of lesbians and hippies, so not everyone’s cup of tea.
And more.
+1 on Nong Khai. Excellent vibe.
Vientiane was nothing but gas fumes and dust to me, but Luang Prabang was lovely.
Nice Facebook post boomer
>Northampton, MA
Wew, I just took a trip with a few friends there a few days ago. That location of Raven Used Books is the single best bookstore in all of New England.
>Wew, I just took a trip with a few friends there a few days ago. That location of Raven Used Books is the single best bookstore in all of New England.
It’s a great bookshop, no question, although they need a better screenprinter for their mugs; I didn’t know it was part of a chain. That whole area used to be full of dozens of great bookstores, as you might guess, but, y’know….
If you ever return to Northampton for any reason, drive another half hour up into the hills and hit up the Montague Bookmill (“Books You Don’t Need in a Place You Can’t Find,”) in a beautiful setting (a grist mill from 1842) with an excellent restaurant and cafe to boot.
>Oaxaca
Not from what the Mexicans have told me.
Bordeaux and Krakow
Bordeaux is a shit meme and you need to stop wasting people's time with it. It's like traveling around the world to see Connecticut.
Seconding Krakow, love that place, even with the hoards of stag-do shitheads
If you mean A-list cities in terms of authentic non-globohomosexual cities worth the adventure, I'd say:
Moscow, Russia
Istanbul, Turkey
Lahore, Pakistan
Chefchaouen, Morocco
Naples, Italy
Kyoto, Japan
Hanoi, Vietnam
Medellín, Colombia
and there a few others that are my favorites that I'm going to gatekeep because I feel like they are about to be ruined.
I can second istanbul, I'm here right now.
Would also second medellin but it's starting to get a little out of hand now. Everything that seemed real homey and local suddenly has paved parking lots and is sponsored by corona
Montreal
Brisbane
Melbourne
Sydney
Perth
Adelaide
Hobart
Everywhere else sucks
I would say:
London
>So much history, great mass transpo, free museums
Barcelona
>great people, beautiful architecture
Granada, SP
>CHEAP, great parties, Alhambra is cool as frick and overlooks the whole city
New York
>Never ending list of things to do, some of the best food in the world
Tokyo
>Food... look I like food, and Tokyo has the best food, Really easy to get around, super clean and safe
>London
Honestly as someone who’s lived there in a wealthy area as well as spent plenty of time there as a tourist, I can firmly say I fricking hate London. I think it’s one of the most soulless and depressing places on earth.
From the people, to the weather, to the way it’s organised, to the politics and neighbourhoods, I think it’s nothing less than a massive fricking shitheap and I say that with 100% sincerity. Sometimes I can’t even put my finger on it, London is just grim as frick.
If money was truly no concern, and I had the option to either live in a small, cheap apartment in Budapest or Seville or Prague or Gdańsk, I’d take it all day every day over a penthouse suite in central London.
>Sometimes I can’t even put my finger on it,
Yes, we can tell. You did not say anything of substance in that entire post. What didn't you like about the people? What didn't you like about the politics, or the neighborhoods? You have told us nothing.
London feels incredibly cold, not in terms of the temperature but how people interact with one another. People seem very incredibly distanced and in their own bubble, more so than anywhere I’ve been before. Whether I’m interacting with young black people, middle aged professionals, older people, everyone in London gives me a fricking bad vibe. Like this cross between arrogance and disinterest. Everyone has a chip on their shoulder.
Not to mention, everyone is desperate to be someone. There’s an almost extreme pretentiousness that everyone living in this city has, where they’re desperate to look, sound and come across a certain way or prove that they’re worth something.
Again, in the neighbourhood I lived in, it was pretty wealthy and prestigious, yet the place was still a fricking shithole. Plenty of roadmen and little chavvy little scum. Plenty of pakis and ethnics. Plenty of ponce uni students and gay West coast American types. Soulless copy paste apartment buildings, with the odd run down council building, and a few dirty regency era townhouses. Yet prices would be as much as £5k a month to rent.
Unironically, if I had the option of living in the centre of Manchester, Liverpool, frick even Nottingham, I’d take it over London in a heartbeat.
>Athens, Greece.
Gets a bad rep here and elsewhere. For me, this city is electric. It doesn’t feel as big or as exciting or as important as any of the other major European capitals but it feels incredibly authentic. The party vibe is amazing. The beaches are amazing. There’s a hell of a lot of history and the city feels very alive. There are a lot of interesting neighbourhoods to explore and not to mention, it might be the one place where just taking a stroll around the centre will have you encounter a lot of weird and exciting shit. The girls are beautiful. The mongering scene is insane. I’d also say it attracts a completely different type of tourist to most other Greek destinations and places in the region. It also feels incredibly, incredibly safe. Don’t believe any of the nonsense you read about it otherwise.
Brofist. It's the city I had more fun in than in any other place on Earth.
Why?
Not sure I understand what do you want to hear, but I've listed some reasons before
And another anon did here
I'll bite. Places I've actually been.
Budapest
Prague (good call OP)
Vienna
Rome
Montreal (best Canada has to offer in terms of food, nightlife, lifestyle)
Went to London and Paris recently. While both cities are gargantuan and easy to get around, I can sense both probably would have been better 10-15 years ago and are on a backslide.
In no particular order:
>Istanbul: gorgeous city, historic, extremely walkable, cheap public transportation, low cost of living, friendly locals, decent-tier food
>Mexico City: god-tier food, vibrant culture, extremely friendly locals, fairly navigable, lots of potential day-trips
>Bogota: potentially controversial but an astonishing number of nearby day- and overnight trips, hyper-vibrant city, great nightlife, not infested with sexpats like Medellin, beautiful views in the eastern part of the city, too bad Colombian food is dumpster-tier
>NYC: modestly historic, lots and lots of shit to do, easy to get around, vibrant as frick-all, modern, relatively safe in most areas of even modest interest
>Bangalore: as an Amerigay living in India (albeit a different city), Bangalore is hands-down the most modern, livable major city in the country, tons of shit to do, great restaurants, good nightlife, plenty of activities
>Lahore: reasonably safe by Pakistani standards, awesome walled city, vibrant, liberal compared to other parts of the country, fantastic food, tbqh I just had a great time there and met loads of nice people
>Western Massachusetts: obviously not a city but a fairly small region, family is from there so I'm biased
What the frick is this "vibrant" onionboy meme? Bogota and NYC are basically big gray hobo shelters, is this a codeword for crime-ridden? You never see people saying locations like Buenos Aires or Bilbao are "vibrant" even though they have infinitely many things to do
>why don't you like what I like
>You never see people saying locations like Buenos Aires or Bilbao are "vibrant"
Yes because both cities are fricking dead after 9pm. NYC and Bogota party all night long into the next morning
>Tokyo
>Osaka
>Freiburg (and the surrounding area)
I just finished a trip in Vienna and it definitely made a good impression, might earn a spot too.
Ljubljana, Slovenia. Idk why but I loved the city and the vibe it had. Could see myself living there for a bit.
Seconding this, went with some friends and had a lovely time. Really nice neighborhoods, great food and also very cheap. The castle on the hill in the center of the city is a nice view, and there's an amazing bar inside that holds jazz concerts. Worth a visit.
Other than this one, from my limited experience I really like Vienna (nice vibe, great architecture and good museums) and Osaka (like Tokyo but with more soul and friendlier people, god-tier food everywhere).
Wien, Bratislava and San Juan del Sur
Wien was pretty comfy when i visited, besides the metro everything looked pretty nice
Somehow, I really liked Bratislava a lot, but i decided to stay mostly on the touristic area, so idk about the rest
Lastly, San Juan del Sur in Nicaragua was a pretty good place to stay, everything was dirt cheap and the food was awesome, but getting there was a real pain in the ass
Coomer who goes to gym and codes and games in downtime perspective.
>A Rank
Bangkok - what a fantastic city with literally everything you could want, and just weird enough to feel like an exotic adventure if you need it too. Thai culture is very permissive of coomerism, and much more so than other parts of SEA. That is to say there is less shame involved so the girls stay happy go lucky even while carrying around the sperm of 5 different geriatric Australians. Besides the cooming it just has literally fricking everything set up perfect for public transport, so meeting people and doing things is simple cheap and you don't need to worry about parking. I can't even count hoe many times I've gone on tinder or thaifriendly and met the chick irl an hour later. I just pick an activity and tell them to come with me, and it's that easy. GREAT FOOD too, and not wildly expensive.
Angeles City - qualification is 'good time every time you go'. I've never had a bad time here. It's not a big place but it's hard to top if cumming inside brown Asian 20 year olds for cheap is your main hobby. Surrounded by slums and low income so you also have this massive untapped crop of poor bawds without phones who will do anything for you if you be their friend and take them to Jollibee or even the mall. Just an amazing destination for a womanizer. I've been back there many times because it's such an open ended choose your own adventure type of insane adult experience that I can't not love it. Its so unbelievable that I can't even tell stories about what I have been up to here, because they would never take it seriously. Not for everyone of course but if you are a true degen then it's a slice of heaven.
These two places stand out. I've never been anywhere else (20 countries and counting) that didn't have massive downsides to go with their great stuff.
detecting some heavy sociopathy from these posts
Its called honesty and experience, both are things npc slime like you are unequipped to deal with.
I really don't know how you all can stand eurogays wallowing in the decaying carcass of their once great ancestors. I hate European cities since they are in decline.
Growing Asian metropolis centers entering their golden ages is way more interesting imo, and you can brush off their attitude issues since you can't understand them and they look weird.
With Europeans you always know when they are being c**ty and difficult or just dopey and stupid, and you feel the secondhand embarrassment since there is this limited chance you might share some blood with them.
Not so in Asia. It's a pure exotic wonderland that is a frickedup but in a fun way, and you can get away with almost anything by just playing stupid (because the locals think they are geniuses compared to you).
Anyways it feels like a real adventure instead of just a recap of stuff your people already did.
Historically speaking:
Pergamum was outstanding. Its located on top of a hill, the site is well preserved and a dream to visit. Hiking up the hill, visualizing the site as it was in the past was epic.
Miletus was also a great spot, located in a rural area, great to hitchhike to, there are also great historical sites around the area, including a Byzantine fortification. You can really visualize how the nomadic barbarians like the region, and how the Byzantines attempted to fortify the coastline.
Troy was a dream to me, the plains surrounding it. Unreal....Unreal man. The site itself is incredibly old, so the fortifications are not magnificent. But you can tell it was an impressive city for the time period of 1200 BC.
Antioch does not have much still standing...but my GOD does it have the best historical museum I have ever been to. I hiked up the hill to the Citadel starting on the side of the Church of Saint Peter. Then down the gorge with the Iron Gate (late standing gate of the city) and up the major hill to the citadel, I went around because these frickers working for the government told me it was closed, I went anyway lol. I hiked up from the Iron Gate to the walls of Antioch limbing the hillside. This place was REAL travel, epic stuff. Antioch must have been an incredible city, for these city walls were incredible, built on the side of the hill like that.
Helsinki
Nice that you'd say that but why?
t. Living in Helsinki
>clean
>easy to get around
>very few tourists, relatively speaking
>weather is comfy year round, especially in the fall and winter with saunas
>very few bums, scammers, etc
>everyone is super friendly
I haven’t been anywhere else in Europe that meets everyone of those. Only large city I’ve been to where I didn’t feel stressed or exhausted by the time I left
Tbilisi - cheap as well as excellent food and beer, beautiful churches, nice people, great historic area, easy access to the rest of Georgia.
Oaxaca - Best food in one of the best countries for food on earth, well-preserved and fairly clean, just a few hours bus ride from God's country (pacific coast).
Portland, Maine - As a New Englander this is the best city for maintaining the essence of the region. Plus good mix of high end and casual restaurants, solid breweries, super walkable, great waterfront and ocean views, Casco Bay, ability to drive further up the Maine coast.
St. Pete, Florida - It's in Florida but it's not a shit hold. Kensington is a cool neighborhood. Restaurant scene is solid. Trendy or tacky or both depending on what you want. Beautiful beaches not far away.
Kyoto
Sydney
Hong Kong
Taipei
Kuala Lumpur
Singapore
Florence
Venice
Amsterdam
St Petersburg
Horrible list lmao
He nailed an almost perfect not to go list
St. Petersburg during summer ok though
Contrarigays
Vienna.
Chiang Mai
Krakow
Granada
Hamburg
Banská Stiavnica
Going to have to second Hong Kong like a lot of people ITT. It really is the breasts, even after the protest crackdown and Corona I'm still hoping to go back, maybe next summer. Even the rural shit like biking in the New Territories is a ton of fun. That city just screams SOVL, even if its not the Pearl of the Orient anymore I hope it can keep some of that even under the PRC thumb.
I'd rank Osaka a close-ish second to HK, definitely my favourite city in Japan. A bit rough around the edges compared to Tokyo but the atmosphere is more laid-back and comfy with a very unique local culture. I find it a really charming city. It basically has the benefits of Tokyo like being generally clean, safe and easy to access with public transport, while being cheaper. Plus as a Kansai city is close to the historical sites like Kyoto and Nara, and for baseballgays like me its Hanshin Tigers town. If I had to move to a city abroad that would probably be the place I'd pick.
