>that night I locked my door
>homosexuals
Can someone's social intelligence get any worse? Even if drunk
>social intelligence
>?
he wanted to know if he'd go to the cops...
A normal person would know that mentioning something like that to someone staying at your house is going to ruin the pleasant encounter.
No he didn't want to know that. You think he was waiting for oh no I'd never call the police, just cry. Or, if you do that I'm going to tell in you alright.
There's so many homosexuals in mexico it's bizzare
I wish I didn't read there's. Made me a bit sad.

Is couchsurfing even still a thing anymore?
I think it's died down, I'm not sure how though, there's a demand for it and it's such a simple thing, minimal infrastructure is even required. It could be done in a any forum.
The environment got poisoned by the gig economy and coomers.
It shows once again that good things only happen in well-regulated, homogeneous communities with shared values, once you let in too many outsiders of any kind it's all down the shitter.
Yes, this will happen with anything, even SighSee. I don't think it's about funding and regulation, it's people and popularity.
If that's what started happening they could run the site again in peak form and it still won't work.
It happens to everything you can imagine: night clubs, nature reserves, hobbies, web sites - once the unwashed masses move in, the quality takes a deep dive.
The only way to keep the standards high is strict gatekeeping, something which is much harder than it sounds.
The holiday home swap in my union still works very well, but that's because it's a very limited set of people who know that they immediately lose their privileges if they are bad members of the community.
A lot of things can't be regulated to that degree.
Everything sucks.
>I'm not sure how though
They had the brilliant idea to start charging upfront for a site meant to help you avoid spending any money whatsoever.
That and it turned into a hookup website. coomers doing what coomers do best.
I'm actually surprised it didn't turn into that earlier.
It was like that from the beginning, but the whole userbase was much less disturbed by that, just look at the early community gatherings for proof.
Again, everything goes to shit once the normies come in.
>just look at the early community gatherings for proof.
What?
the site itself is dead because they started charging people. There's a few free alternatives but nowhere near as big as Couchsurfing
That's my point, they fricked up their model, now we have replacements that somehow don't work well, but it's moronic because nothing is needed for it to work, the first site that opened should have had all of the users from couch surfing migrate instantly and have the scene go back to normal. It's quite infuriating.
It’s active, theres still gays who complain about $10 to get $1000 of free nights and a social network.
I used it in Playa del Carmen, Krakow, and Prague for meetups, lots of lifelong friends met in the last 2 years on CS.
How is it for more obscure destinations or China? I want to find out wether it's worth it or not.
Because the mandatory fee transformed it from a volunteer community to something like a third-rate Airbnb.
Couchsurfing isn't about the money, but rather about connections, in many places I spent much more in presents for the hosts and their families than I would have spent for a cheap hotel in the same city.
>rather about connections
With who? like that fat mexican guy in
It's not dead at all
I live in a big city granted, but I still host regularly and get hosts whenever I need them
Now I can pay to play sexually assaulted roulette
When have you been sexually assaulted? Get back to Rddit you fricking piece of shit.
Met up with a Slovakian acquaintance of an Italian girl in Bratislava under the pretense of couchsurfing for one night. I think she forgot to mention two of her friends were male classmates.
Anyway he ghosted us and we slept on the stairwell floor of the Hilton parking garage under we got kicked out at 4AM, and proceeded to sleep paired up in the public park hammocks until morning, because it was fricking cold and I brought the only heavy jacket, and not one of us had over 40 euro.
>Taiwan, march 2020
>want to ride a bike around island
>stay with a host somewhere way outside of Taipei
>30yo guy, seems kinda lonely, speaks great English
>extremely helpful with getting my bike rental set up, planning stuff
>we have to share a bed for a few nights
>I go on my trip, leave some stuff at his place, come back 3 weeks later for my flight home
>he answers the door stark naked
>smallest pecker I’ve ever seen
Some stereotypes are true.
Asian men also have porcupine pubes so their dicks look small by default
I heard one of the reasons this died off is because gay coomers started using it.
Yes. I know people who tried to use it platonically and were propositioned for sex by the host.
That's not a story.please refer back to the title.
Yes it's true, a lot of people don't want to couchsurf anymore because economic and social conditions have deteriorated so much, it's just not the same.
gays are promiscuous, it's entirely normal in gay culture to proposition to complete strangers even if, or ESPECIALLY if, they are in a relationship.
We must strive to be respectful and understanding of other cultures and that anon did the right thing by politely saying no, his host crossed a line by threatening to rape him.
quick bump
Why? Might as well die, nobody has shit interring to say.
i just smoke, drank, watched tv and scammed ubereats for the year i was couchsurfing
there were two sexual encounters but they didnt lead anywhere so nothing interesting
How did you scam ubereats? Course they're interesting, tell us how they went.
