A ryanair delay saved my life because my appendix bursted before departure and I would have just ignored the pain and gotten on if it was on time. The delay gave me time to have a doctor visit me at the airport and tell me I'm a fricking moron, promptly sending me to the emergency room

I almost only fly with major non-budget airlines, and even I cannot recall a single time a flight was actually on time.

I fly Ryan air rarely. Every time I think it will be different this time. It is not.

How can a business that actively loathes its customers do so well

By being first place in a race to the bottom. Spirit in the US is similar.

I'm no cheerleader for Ryanair but the hate they get is baffling. As long as you stick to the rules of boarding and luggage etc. then it's 99% the same as any other airlines that flies similar routes. You may get a snack and maybe some level of baggage allowance with other non-budget carriers within Europe but you'll pay more than it's worth and it's unlikely there is overlap with the desired flight routes you're taking. The only real issue I have is they use buses more frequently and make you wait longer in herding pens and stairwells before boarding. I believe they're actually above average for punctuality too. They're nowhere near as cheap as they used to be but still better than others for value and with much more interesting routes.

          >it's 99% the same as any other airlines that flies similar routes
It's so obvious who the manlets are when threads about cheap airlines pop up.
          >Just fly Ryanair, 26" inches of legroom is plenty, what are you a giant?
Unless the flight is like 45 minutes only, not worth it.
          >make you wait in herding pens
          That too.
There's a point where a demoralizing experience isn't worth the $50 you're saving unless the price differential is really big.

this is me and I'm 185cm. Legroom is not an issue. Wtf is a herding pen, maybe this is just a specific airport thing?

            >26 inches

30 inches, on par with pretty much every other short haul European flag carrier. BA, AF, Lufthansa, Swiss etc. 6ft btw so not a manlet or giant.

The bit between when they scan your boarding pass at the gate and the plane. Usually just the stairs and usually boiling. When they make you stay there ages before being allowed outside/on the aircraft.

I always forget how miserable budget flights are

Flew back from Spain last week and it was quite pleasant and had a nice chat with the lady opposite who was flying back with her parents who didn't really say a word. Turns out they both had dementia or something. The dad gets up maybe a minute before touching down, pants covered in shit, wandering to the back spreading his shit smell everywhere. While this is happening and the daughter goes back to get him, the mother has pissed herself and somehow locked herself in the front toilet.

I avoid ryanair because they use boeing planes

Boeing planes are the best though

For me, Ryanair’s core problem is the boarding experience. Low fares come with cramped seating and no included in flight services which is fine. And the regulators stopped their more flagrant lies in the adverts. But the holding pen statement is exactly that. You get squeezed into what is meant to be a vestibule with 150 other poorgays like cattle going to slaughter. Should the staff have a spare moment at the gate they start weighing and measuring carry ons - I stick to the limits but the rage this causes others is horrible.

EasyJet costs the same and they aren’t as nasty.

I fly budget airlines and spring the extra €20 for front row seats for the extra legroom, view and boarding and deboarding comfort. Much nicer experience than normal seats at a standard airline at a lower price.

I went with then like 30 times and I never had a delay.
Wizzair on the other hand fricks me up every single time.

One time my Ryanair flight was 6 hrs late. I would normally not complain, because they literally gave it away for free (wanted to beat Wizzair on that route, so they gave away free return tickets).
But the whole flight was full of rapid descents with stuff and the flight attendants flying around the cabin, and then slow ascents. It was the most insane flight path I ever had the misfortune of being on, and it wasn't above mountains or anything, clear weather, etc.
I left the plane as the last one, cause I wanted to ask the pilots what the frick that was. Dudes looked red like pigs, eyes wide, and they were wiping sweat off their necks constantly, their whole head was swimming in sweat. So I ask what happened with those descents. They go "I don't know, I would also like to know".
I just refused the free tickets and I refuse to step on Ryanair planes since. EasyJet, Norwegian or Wizzair might be shit, but at least their pilots don't pull this bullshit. I had some relatively bad flights in Asia and South America, but none of them were as abysmal as that one Ryanair crap. I honestly don't get how they don't have more accidents.

    who the frick cares
the flights cost £5, are rarely longer than 3 hours, and aren't delayed any more often than other airlines
anyone who complains about ryanair is a fricking moron

Ryanair is the shittiest of the shit though. Many budget-friendly airlines that are much better.

I actually had a surprisingly decent experience with IndiGo, which makes no sense because it's budget AND Indian.

I only had a delay one time, and it was due to a maintenance problem. My last flight arrived 30 minutes earlier.
