Did flight ticket prices increased in europe?

Last year when I was in eu, there was ton of cheap flights around 5-15 euros but when i look now most of the flights are above 20. I even made a flight trip to Morocco from spain for 10 euros. What happened?

Those 10 euro flights were never that common, but you can still easily get stuff in the 30-60 range.
The stinger is the prices for bags. 5 years ago it would include a large carry on, now you're paying 100 euros for that.

I was just looking at Ryanair tix for the first time since Covid, found a round-trip from London to Morocco for 40 euro. Looks like they’re still doing their magic god bless them

I don't think Putin controls flight prices, maybe Aeroflot, but they're not flying much in Europe any more.

Why were they ever that cheap in the first place? Who subsidizes it? And no, there's no way it covers their expenses even if their staff are Ukrainians making $5/hr

      >Who subsidizes it?
Tax payers paying for airports without receiving tax on jet fuel.

The war in Ukraine has spiked the price of oil and also, specifically, the price of distillates (diesel and jet fuel) since europe refines virtually none of it preferring to let other countries do it for them. Well one of those was Russia.

Didn't know that Russia occupied Europe and subjected them to their failed industrial policies, when did that happen?
The war in the Ukraine is just a nice excuse, watch out for the same thing happening when the situation in Palestine keeps going.

Just bought a one-way from Belgrade to Lisbon for $72. Not bad. 4.5 hour flight.

Post covid reopening and every broke ass wanting to travel to generic tourist traps means prices for flights will go up.

Then ukraine made things shakier albeit prices settled down a bit.

You can still find plenty of flights from 50 to 80 euros which is reasonable considering me, as a leaf, have to pay fricking 1800$ cad minimum to fly economy to europe.

At least you have the luxury of low cost airlines.

Come live in Australia and you will realise how good you have it in Europe in regard to cheap flights
