I really like the thanksgiving meal. Yes, it's bland, roast poultry with a lot of bread and gravy, maybe with some sage seasoning if anything, but its comfy. I actually seek out a thanksgiving style dinner after returning to the US after an extended trip of a few weeks or months in Mexico or Thailand. By then I'm usually tired of shit like chiles or noodles and the thanksgiving meal, since it doesn't contain a lot of cheese or fried ingredients (unusual for American food) is easy to digest while I re-acclimate my guts to a goyslop diet.
Christmas dinner can be anything but people usually pick dishes which imply wealth and exclusivity in their particular region whereas Thanksgiving is based around specific ingredients.
Black people can generally cook amazing food if they were born before welfare (about 1970). Some states in the US allow people to use food stamps to buy fast food which lazy welfare queens will do for every meal instead of cooking. That's where you see paper plate Thanksgivings where they forget to take the giblets out of the turkey before cooking it.
I beg to differ. My family is Italian American, most of the time we ate Italian family recipes. Thankgiving was a masterpiece, same with Christmas. Tables full of dishes both Italian and American because they embraced both holidays to celebrate heritage but being immigrants and the opportunities it gave our family which we probably wouldn't have had if stuck in rural south Italy.
