doing international travel from california is a pain in the ass.
>canada
>mexico
>smaller mexicos
>crash landing in the pacific
>some us state
is there anything interesting that doesnt take a billion hours to get to from here? even jamaica has bizarrely long layovers
>Doesn't want to go to Canada, South America, or Asia
So you just want to go to Europe and Africa?
asia and south america are still pretty far. i was shocked how long a flight to cusco is. really like central america and some of the carribean is within the range of not stupid far but thats about it
hell if it wasn't for cooming I might never leave California. (or the occasional work trip, I guess.). and even then, supposedly pretty decent scenes in LA and SJ.
been seeing seemingly pretty solid prices on flights to quito and lima. I've also really enjoyed road trips through baja but it sounds like that's not your thing.
actually nah, normally it absolutely would be my thing but i just did a road trip north to canada with a lot of backpacking and i wanted to so something that a) i could use my miles on and b) was a bit more idk, exotic i guess. ive been to a lot of central america already (although i heard nicaragua isnt so hot anymore which is a bummer because it was probably my favorite). im still a bit sketched by mexico because solo white boi and i dont want to hang out in mexico city for two weeks. also not criticism but i can get plenty of mexico here if i want to.
i may still check out more south. i only got about 2 weeks which is why i dont want to spend 2 days in an airport. hell i havent been to costa rica yet. maybe thats an option
>hell i havent been to costa rica yet. maybe thats an option
decent prices, but it does seem like even more of a little mexico than the rest of central america
what about buenos aires? mb cheaper than europe anyway
is argentina cool? i literally only know it from world cup and sighsee memes
Forget Baja, get your import permit and drive around the real Mexico. Or take a bus. Don't be chickenshit just because you are a guero. California Mexicans are not like Mexican Mexicans. Of course, California is still at a disadvantage, being located at the far corner of Mexico. Ideally you'd drive or take the Amtrak to Del Rio, Texas and cross the border there.
I just came back from mexico today. I'm italian and I went with two couples of friends, so i was..the fifth wheel, sometimes I wondered alone in the cities.
We visited Quintana Roo and Yucatan, and I must say I felt pretty safe. Police is all around, and some local people (speaking spanish also helps a lot, they were also curious about Italy etc) with their advide really improved my vacation.
They say most cartel members live in these zone, so that's why it's so secure. I actually enjoyed a lot my trip, but some things kinda bummed me out, but security wasn't among them.
also, it took me 3 hours flight form milan to lisbon, then 5 hours for the next flight, then again 9 hours from Lisbon to Cancun.
just do it!
>every LatAm country is Mexico
LOL, LMAO even.
>faraway places are far away
What a remarkably astute observation!
California through LAX has better access to Asia than any other place in the Americas. However, Miami is far superior to California for accessing Latin American destinations. I'm sure there are LAX - MIA flights on the regular, and Miami has a great metro system that makes it very easy to get to and from the airport.
places are far away
>What a remarkably astute observation!
this is exactly what i am saying. if you drew a circle around a european country and said 'i only want to take a 5 hour flight max' you could go to a wide variety of places. here its like 3 flavors
>every LatAm country is Mexico
i mean, am i wrong? the cultures are very similar unless you want to split hairs
anyway i think i decided havana might be the move. looks like theres some cool stuff out in the countryside and the exchange rate is decent. i also already know a bit of spanish so huge win there.
Zipair is pretty affordable and flys out of LA iirc
Zipair will leave you stranded without a backup plan for any reason, sometimes no reason. They don't have a customer service department and they only have six planes with barely enough staff to operate four. The bag situation makes ryanair seem pleasant. you can't even pay for a full size carryon. And they don't even feed you unless you buy the meal weeks in advance. No precheck, borderline illegally advertised 'business class', it's absolutely horrendous.
Ironically LAX is an awful place to fly to japan because gays snipe all the good award flights within the minute they're posted a year in advance. It's usually cheaper for someone in LA to buy a ticket to Calgary or some other distant city, then buy a ticket with a stopover in LA to get to Japan. Fucking bullshit city.
Heck even Panama was an 8 hour flight from LAX that felt like it took forever.
>Far away.
Try being Australian
You bros are literally everywhere and you have a reputation of being good time guys that smash ass anywhere you go so I’m not sure how bad I feel for you lol
Anything worth flying to, can be flown to from SFO/LAX, especially LAX goes everywhere.
If you want to go somewhere you cant get to from SFO/LAX, just admit you have shit taste and only visit shitholes no one goes to. It's not that hard.
