DUI while traveling Aus on a working holiday visa

I just fricked up big time. Went out for dinner and had a few drinks and then decided to drive home (the only other option would have been to sleep in my car in the parking lot, which for a couple drinks over a few hours didn’t seem necessary, and due to the distances between everything in the town I am living in there are no ubers or taxis). I am on month three of my Aus work holiday visa and am just devastated that I chose to do this, and now completely ruin everything that I had planned to do while I was here travelling. Has anyone had any similar experiences in Australia? I’m now worried that I won’t be able to get my visa renewed ever again and will have to say goodbye to Australia forever.

    >I'm devastated
Kek, you absolutely deserve it fricking moron. Driving drunk is 3rd world tier. You could've gotten someone killed.

Was it "a few" or "a couple"? The people responding to you are homosexuals, having a light buzz while driving isn't dangerous at all if you're not a moron who doesn't know his limits and careful, but the changing numbers within your post makes me doubt it was "a few"

I drank 6 beers over 9 hours. Not sure how I even registered as drunk. Fricking pig cops. I hate them. If they would've just kept going and not fricked with me I would've made it home just fine. But no they couldn't let it go. Also I tried the whole "let me talk to your supervisor" stunt. That didn't work. I also demanded a blood draw, that also got denied. I'm so pissed. they ruined my perfect trip. I'm honestly crestfallen over it.

You ruined your own trip you twat. Take responsibility for your own dumbassery, soft wiener. Drink and drive, get caught, suck it up - it's your own damn fault.

I feel sorry for the coppers who had to put up with your whining shit ''Ooh I need to talk to supervisor''... ''Ooh I need a blood draw''.. that's c**t behavior. Frick off we're full anyway.

Sleeping in my car would've been more irresponsible. I did what I had to do and got punished for it. I was driving just fine, they had no right to pull me over.

            >I also demanded a blood draw, that also got denied

This doesn't make sense. They would either give you a kit to take home or take you to the hospital if you fail/refused to provide adequate breath samples during the breath analysis procedure.

            t. police officer

They said something along the lines of "This isn't America buddy" and they claimed they could just tell I was drunk. I tried to stall the breathalyzer as long as possible but they fricking shoved it into my mouth causing damage. I think I might sue.

A kit, to take home? How TF does that even work? How do they make sure you do it?
He might be looking at this from an American perspective. In the US defense attorneys say you should insist that you don't trust the roadside breath test and want to go to the police station for a blood draw. This is for one, a stalling tactic, buying you maybe an hour or more to sober up while the cops drive you around and frick around trying to find a nurse to draw the blood depending on how busy/incompetent they are. It also invites more lawyering over breaches of procedure which might get the charges thrown out if something wasn't done right or correctly documented during the blood draw.

They can't deny it. You should lawyer up asap. If they refused to do a blood draw then you already have a case.

You're a moron but pigs are worse. Good luck.

And I drank 2 bottles of beer over 15 days/360 hours, moron. I bet you drank the other 8 bottles in the last 3 hours of that period.

Was it a DUI checkpoint? That would suck. If you got pulled over, it was because you were driving like a typical careless drunk, and you deserve whatever happens.

Good drivers don't get pulled over regardless of their intoxication status.

Sounds like you just got unlucky, sure it was ultimately your fault but if what you say is true then you weren't actually endangering anyone any more than the average 80 year old on a good day.

I feel for ya. Recommend deleting your thread tho, because this is SighSee and all you're gonna get are replies that'll just add insult to injury

If they forced the device into your mouth they also broke procedure. It sounds like they were just doing some seppo hazing.

You should check and see if they filed your case at all. High probability they just tossed it after ruining your night and making you worry. Especially if they fricked around that much.

    What identity did you provide?

I got a speeding ticket in QLD on a UK licence, the cops basically said to me that there was no way for them to enforce the fine as I was living is NSW at the time.
