Actually once a hotel review magazine used forensic methods in 5 star hotels all over the world and found cum and feces residues in cleaned sheets in most of those suites. So you're always sleeping in someone else's bed, don't matter how much you're spending.

Luxury hotels are such a waste of money. A 3.5 star place has everything you need at 1/4 the cost of a 5 star.

Agree and it just pisses me off seeing the tiny little pringles tub they put in the minibar with a £20 price tag on it. I kept the bar of soap out of my last 5 star hotel for occasional smells though it's smells so fricking nice

That being said, you can have both adventure and pamper. Nothing like coming back to your room after a long hike and getting in a jacuzzi.
Tbh I'd only splurge on 5 star hotels if I could get one of those specialty suites with a living room, nice view... If I just get a decent bedroom I'd rather pay 1/3 of the price and stay in 4 star property. I don't even use the hotel facilities anyway. Unless the hotel is the destination itself. Also had to pay 7 euros for a bottle of water and that made me mad.
