Every time I've flown to and from Canada (either Ottawa or Toronto) I've had multiple delays, extremely slow processing lines, extremely slow ticketing lines, extremely slow security lines. Never again will I fly to Canada.
I know a woman who booked super discounted flights from the US to Europe on AC, think like not even $300rt discounted. When she returns, she tells me that she and her husband showed up at the airport like 8 hours early and spent that time begging AC employees to upgrade them to business for free. Of course they refused.
Pre-merger Continental was the GOAT and United was still baseline average. Now with United's management, they gutted Continental and returned to baseline. The truly worst timeline.
A guest from the hostel I work at got her luggage lost by Air Canada and they took like 2 or 3 days to deliver it, just a few hours before her flight home lol

its really easy to open a chargeback in a cut & dry case like yours. takes minutes to do anon. it's weird how there's millions of people who won't open a chargeback when they're obviously wronged, but thousands of thieves will run around & wreak havoc on small businesses by open actually fraudulent chargebacks.
