Was at the Frankfurt airport and staff were so aggressive, especially when they had to talk in English. Is English insecurity rudeness a thing throughout Europe? I have only lived in the UK and US so far, and staff were usually nice and understanding, but literally everyone at Frankfurt was angry lmao
I'd be rude too if I had to deal with the dreck of common tourists day in and day out.
german autism. People in general seem colder than south europeans
Frankfurt airport is notorious for exceptional rudeness, don't generalise it to the average German.
>Frankfurt airport is notorious for exceptional rudeness, don't generalise it to the average German.
not op; my experience is German airport staff are horrendous. It's not CDG - the only airport in the world I refuse to go thru - but still. Thier autism and refusal to budge from rules and employ commonsense combined with the teutonic lack of joy makes german transfer unbearable.
t. my company insists we use lufthansa or swiss for flights so suffered many transfers via frankfut, dusseldorf and berlin
>Thier autism and refusal to budge from rules and employ commonsense combined with the teutonic lack of joy makes german transfer unbearable.
You just described every airport in America. I take it you've never had to experience TSA
White Americans have a ton of German ancestry, sometimes it comes to the surface
It's just that we hate you, don't take it personally.
I live in Canada, so I've experienced the nightmare that is Vancouver and Toronto. Even though people like to criticize the "poor" interpersonal skills of the Germans & Dutch, they are very nice compared to the shit I usually experience back home. Even if they seem a little mean to other people, I've seen meaner.
Germans are rude? Wtf
Canada is a society in collapse. Their airports are horrible.
Toronto is shit because you can't walk between terminals that are right next to each other. A 3 hour layover was almost not enough time since they made you go through their dumb security again.
Ottawa is shit too since they have one security line for the entire airport. Some sperg in a mask check IDs and tickets directing traffic only to be checked two more times for the same thing later in line.
I'm passing through Vancouver int'l on an international flight next month, what can I expect?
It's just FRA. Horrible airport all around.
Frankfurt ist a scheiß-hole
Except for the top class brothels.
>Hey, where's the washroom?
>Quoi?
>Est-ce que puis je-
>Down the hall to the left
Every time
>Is English insecurity rudeness a thing throughout Europe
Yes. Always at least say hello in their native language before speaking English. It's (rightfully imo) seen as rude to go to their country and not even bother to try speak their language
>say hello in their language
>they respond with a full sentence of gibberish you can't understand
>have to apologise and get them to say it again in English
It might be rude but it is far simpler to just speak to everyone in English straight away so they know where they stand and you don't look like a bell end.
Germans are unhinged and rude. Nobody in this country knows how to behave anymore. People are impulsive, self-pitying, self-centered and moody.
It didnt used to be like this, but it's gotten really bad in the last 20 or so years, probably even earlier.
I never realized how shit the attitude here in germany is until I started to travel a lot.
Fun travel related story:
On a international flight with a german airline a english speaking deaf man was sitting in the seat front of me and the stewardess constantly shit-talked him in german because she assumed he wouldnt hear or understand her anyways.
Thats the kinda attitude you can look forward to in germany. From indifference to straight up hostility.
Better than the fake nice crap you get in a lot of other countries. At least they are being honest. There's no such thing as fake-rudeness
>Better than the fake nice crap you get in a lot of other countries. At least they are being honest. There's no such thing as fake-rudeness
No, it's not better. I've heard that pants on the head retaraded cope from so many germans.
What you think is "fake" is simply about maintaining a baseline level of civility.
To have the maturity not to ruin someone else's day because you have a shit day for some reason or another should be common sense for a civilized nation.
To get upset over people being "pretend friendly" is also peak german autism. Everyone with an IQ higher than room temperature knows it's a "polite" friendlyness, not a genuine offer for friendship. And it makes navigating basic societal errands MUCH nicer if people dont behave like moody teenagers.
I never realized how much germany is collectively stuck in some ego-centric teenage mindset until I got some travel mileage and was able to compare out abhorrend service culture with basically anywhere else in the world.
>To get upset over people being "pretend friendly" is also peak german autism.
Wrong, putting on a fake demeanor 24/7 is incredibly annoying and disingenuous. Disingenuity shouldn't be a desirable human trait. No one owes you "polite" friendliness.
A baseline of polite interaction with your enviroment is not "disingenuous", it's baseline civilizational practice and done pretty much on the entire planet, except for germany.
On the contrary, offloading your grumpy mood on complete strangers is not only immature and retarded but entirely unacceptable if you want a healthy society.
For some reason autistic germans can't tell that being absolute shit to everyone to really let them have a taste of whatever bad mood they're in is not relateable. It's something most people realize is childish when they turn 14.
Also again the cope of telling basic polite interaction "fake demeanor" just because literally everyone else in the world isn't a histrionic basket case like most germans seem to be.
if you are polite and friendly to people evrything will go better for you
Been living in DE for 2 years now and you’ve nailed it there. I’m relatively introverted and thought I’d quite like the way people keep to themselves and don’t try too hard to be sociable, but tbh it’s fucking irritating. One too many work socials where everybody was sat at the restaurant table looking in different directions saying nothing because they’re too asocial to have a fucking chat.
Well said
germans are rude and unpleasant
I wonder how much of perceived international rudeness isn't deliberate, but just a translation gap or even a cultural gap.
I've heard of a person (not a German) who would inadvertently ask for favors in a rude/snarky tone.
Instead of
>"Can you help me with [task]?"
He would say
>"Can you do [task] or are you useless?"
I was chewed out today because i forgot to weigh and put a sticker on a pack of bananas, in the supermarket. Also today when traveling by train an old german lady yelled at me for not wearing a mask properly.
Germans and rules...
>act like a retard
>people get angry at you
wow shocking
Im not very good at speaking english so I sometimes forget to say worlds like ”hello” or ”please” so I may sound rude but thats not the case, its just that my english sucks.
Just came home to JFK airport from Istanbul, man our airports are fucking dumps...
American airports in general suck in terms of... pretty much everything.
