Got a job offer in Virginia

Tell me everything you know about the Hampton Roads region: Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg and anything else around there. Tell me which areas are great and which to avoid. Is the crime really bad? Is it Southern? What's the culture like? I'm white btw.

What about Hampton or Poquoson or anything north of the bridge? What are the good areas?

Downtown Hampton is ok. Yorktown is alright. Poquoson is far from everything, so I rarely ever went there. It seemed like a generic suburban community built on a bay salt marsh. The Seven Cities in general just kind of suck. There's not much going on besides the navy, heavy industry, fish, crabs, and cheap beer. But hey, it's cheap and coastal, which is worth something these days.

        It's mostly black, isn't it?

Wait a damn minute. What high school did you go to? I was also born and raised in NN. LONG fricking gone since college.

OP: it's a Black person infested, desolate, mind numbingly boring hellhole.

Whatever side of the tunnel you’ll be working on, live on that side. Williamsburg is retirement town with quirky college kids thrown in the mix, and the town of Gloucester across the river is hick city

Richmond is one of my least favorite cities in the US. The crime is horrible. The weather is horrible. It's too warm to snow in the winter, so you get 7 months of cold rain followed by 5 months of warm rain in the summer and unbearable humidity. The women don't exercise and everyone is fat and tatted up. They are too far north for good BBQ and too far south for good seafood. There is nothing redeemable about south eastern Virginia.

The dating market is even worse then you imagine since the large military presence. E1s come back from work and just throw down money and then half the people are melanin rich so the dating pool is small. Takes forever to go anywhere of note due to bridges and tunnels and they will israelite you on tolls. Pay in the area isn't going to set the world on fire, and the housing prices are high.

Richmond has some interesting things, but yeah living there is pretty poor choice.

It sort of works.. but then you have to cross the tunnel for dating/fun/meeting people so you're still fricked. Just a couple days a month instead of every day of the month.

Norfolk isn't actually that bad anymore. Most the jiggaboo gangbangers are in Chesapeake and Virginia beach now but you stand a high chance of getting robbed near ODU and might catch bullets downtown.

I went to college in Williamsburg. The campus is about 6000 college students, largely artsy and quirky types. Beyond that the town is just a tourist site and retirement community

Newport News sucks, has nothing of value. Same with Hampton Roads. And Norfolk. Virginia Beach is neat though
