Greece Fashion?

I'm going to Greece for the first time in about a month and a half to do some Archaeology work. I have never been here and don't really know fashion norms but I'm from Texas. I planned on bringing my straw cowboy hat since it's going to be hot where I'm working but how badly will this stand out in Greece if I wear it into town?

There is a very finite number of places where a cowboy hat wouldn't look out of place.
    >Southern US
    >Alberta, Canada
    >Mexico & adjacent countries

That said, this thread is largely pointless, and I mean that with the least offense possible. It goes without saying that your hat is going to stand out in many parts of the world. But part of being American is doing whatever you want and not giving a frick what others think. Even though you made this thread and presented it like a question, I don't think any answer is going to change your mind. Even if someone told you not to do it, that it'll look ridiculous, and wrote out a very convincing argument, I don't think it will stop you, nor should it give you pause.

    Mosey on, pardner.

Europeans think Americans come in 3 types:
    >cowboy
    >gangster
    >loser
So you might as well just go with it.

we never see the cowboy type, only the loser (i assume this encompasses morbidly obese and completely styleless and out of touch weirdos)
the gangster types dont travel thankfully, but unfortunately still exist here

      You forgot the main two:

      >moron
      >obese

Stop stressing over this trip so much, pardner. Yeah, you'll stand out with a fricking cowboy hat, but who gives a shit?

Locals dress in emo clothes. Athens is packed with tourists so you'll see all kinds of fashion among them and nobody bats an eye because you're not expected to dress like the locals. When I walked up to the Acropolis I must have seen a hundred different types of hats that tourists used to shield themselves from the sun. Just wear your cowboy hat

you will stand out as a tourist but nobody gives a frick here, summer is tourist season anyway so you'll fit in
