Has anybody ever gone to Pamplona for the Running of the Bulls? A few friends and I are talking about going this year. Our plan is to watch a run, then decide of we want to run the next day or sometime during the week. Does anybody have any tips on good places to stay, eat, drink, and navigate what's probably a clusterfrick of people?

Ran it in 2012, it was full of drunk Brits like any other tainted piece of Spain. Stay away from the starting area as it's all walls. This is for the die hard locals who run it every year. Also avoid dead man's corner (that's where I was unknowlingly until after the fact - almost got gored).

Overall it's a fun experience and good piece of Spanish culture that is all but gone. Just be careful and try to stay to the sides. The bulls are a lot faster than you think and will pass you in seconds. Do not start running until you actually see them, thats how you show respect to the bulls (pussies will start running the moment the firework goes off). Good luck

Why would you attend this event that is reminiscent of Muzzlim barbarianism in Iberia?

have a nice day. Bullfighting pre-existed the Moors and was banned under their rule. Not only does it have nothing to do with Islam or Muslims, it was actively practiced as a form of defiance to Arab control.

...But muzzlims enjoyed it? I don't see your point

I went solo last year. It was the one of the best parts of my Euro trip. I watched from a balcony the first morning and ran the next. The day before the first running there is an opening ceremony worth seeing also at Plaza Ayuntamiento. It’s the official start of San Fermin and people throw Sangria everywhere. During the day there’s a lot going on but mostly drinking sangria, shopping, and hopping around tapas bars. Also check out a matador fight in the afternoon. I stayed at a hostel called Albergue de Villava and it was easy to make friends with other travelers there. Also get a bus pass right when you get there unless you are staying really close. I highly recommend doing this trip and you should run too

Thanks for the encouragement anon. It would be my first time out of the country, so am apprehensive to go on my own, but maybe I will if the bros back out.
