Hey SighSee,
My girlfriend and I are trying to figure out where to go for holiday (for a few days - up to a week)
Kinda limited budget, £1500 between us (flights + hotel) is not much I know, we'd like to go somewhere with decent weather, pretty beaches and nature and a city to explore, we don't care about the night life or drugs.
We're based in the UK.
Throw your best recommendations at me, I just need ideas
Isn't the Mediterranean kind of the default answer for a cheap beach destination for Brits? Could probably find cheap tickets to Florida as well if you're flexible.
Alternatively if you don't care that much about nature you could flixbus to france or the netherlands for dirt cheap, the netherlands has surprisingly nice beaches
>Isn't the Mediterranean kind of the default answer for a cheap beach destination for Brits
Yeah, it really comes down to these places such as Italy, Spain, Greece, Greek islands the Canary Islands or the Balearic Islands. There's a few more options such as Germany or Croatia or Poland.
I don't really want to end up like one of those generic brits on holiday type thing, yknow?
>france or the netherlands for dirt cheap
Haven't really thought about France or Netherlands tbf
Default is Benidorm or Ibiza. Cyprus is also popular
>going all the way to spain to see streets full of "British" bars and restaurants doing generic all day breakfasts
There's a bit of fun in just how grim Benidorm is...
How about the Adria?
Start looking in Croatia and head South along the coast until you find something in your price range.
>How about the Adria
Adria as in the Adriatic Sea?
>Go to France
France, specifically south France or the south east close to Switzerland is also an option. Just really trying to figure the best city or region to go to.
>You'll still have money left for the next trip If you're good at budgeting.
We're both getting paid during our holiday period, so we'll be good on money while on our trip.
>as in the Adriatic Sea?
Yep, Albania is still not overpriced, Croatia went up this year due to them joining the euro zone.
I was just checking out the city of Dubrovnik and it seems like a really nice place to visit, and there's plenty of things to do.
>Albania
Haven't considered Albania yet but I'll definitely check it out
Dubrovnik is nice, Split is nice, Zadar is nice, actually most coastal cities in Croatia aren't bad, even more the islands just off the coast where you can still snag some cheaper accommodation just minutes away on foot from the local (pebble) beach.
I'm gonna have a look at the other places you've mentioned. I'm currently researching Dubrovnik hotels etc.
Any specific places/regions of Albania?
Check out Brac, Hvar or some other islands along the coast between Split and Dubrovnik.
You can reach them by ferry from either city, so you can have both city life and beach life in one holiday.
>Hvar, Brac
These islands look pretty cool tbf, definitely worth a day trip. Though I feel like it would be a better idea to go to Split than Dubrovnik just because they are closer to Split
If you have time it's worth staying a night or two.
You can go from either city but you can also visit them on the way from Dubrovnik to Split, the ferry ride itself is quite nice as well.
We've both got 9 days off and we are planning of doing 7 nights thing, so we definitely have the time to relax in a hotel for a day or two and explore the city and nearby places.
We've both been to Barcelona before, separately but yeah. Haven't considered it as a holiday destination for both of us this time.
I'm gonna do a deeper research tomorrow after work, sounds like a good cheap option tbf
I've been to Albania twice already and will return in like a week. I love the place. If you like beaches, I hear they just got their first "blue flag" beach or something, so maybe check that out?
Also, flights are dirt cheap outside of the peak season (at least from Sweden) and the country is incredibly cheap generally so your trip will definitely fit within your budget.
My trips there have averaged like €25 a day including flights and everything else.
Don't spend too much money though, because I'd like the place to stay unspoiled lmao
Go to France this year so you can avoid all of the Olympics tourists that will be there in 2024. You'll still have money left for the next trip If you're good at budgeting.
Cool pic, where's it from?
Albania is a good option
