How do tour guides not get bored of explaining the same thing over and over again (internationally speaking)?

Most jobs involve doing the same thing over and over again. It is boring.
Do the tour guides get really good at it eventually?
Yeah I'd guess so. Not exactly tour guides but the actors at Disney world that do the same shows multiple times every day get very good at it.
frick, wrong pic
not true for most jobs, since they have different projects and problems every day
teachers have to explain the same things year after year, most IT jobs imply answering people the same two things over and over again, most conversations with a taxi driver are about the same two things over and over again
some parts of life are like that.
I'm a university lecturer. You got that right. I even have memorized my "stand up" routine during teaching. That's why my favourite subject to teach is the Final Year research thesis. All Malaysian unis are Honours programmes, meaning undergrads need to submit a full research thesis to graduate. Every student has to do a unique research project and it is less dull for me to supervise them.
well theres the human aspect. they are talking to people, who are presumably interested in what they have to say about the place, so i guess it cant be that boring? i imagine its actually more interesting than wagecucking at "normal" jobs
I guess meeting new people changes it up
Most tour guides do a lot of different tours, not just one place every day.
lot of work are like that. But meeting new people from all over the world sounds less boring.
by making up different shit each new time
or at least that's what i'd do
Because we derive joy from sharing our knowledge
you are also a tour guide? tell me about your job
I'm more a hiking guide but I work on an old indigenous trail that was also place of one of the most important battles in a war we had here so I go from explaining precolumbian stuff to explaining war stuff all while telling people about the fauna and flora of the place (it's near a water ravine so it's strange stuff)
wow, that sounds really interesting. Does it ever get repetitive to you?
are you the Bolivian I talked to in a another thread recently that said he came here to study for a while?
>Do you go to Montserrat
No, I like hiking and I do sometimes but I have never done it with my company as a tour guide
>do people ask for tour guides to the bunkers? I worked as a chauffeur for a congress recently and they asked me to drive them there, but not in my tours. Now they close it at lik 17 or 18PM because there were too many people and they really annoyed the neighbours
>do you get tourists scared about it sometimes?
lol I just did a tour through the gothic quarter today and it's pretty bad, full of homeless, lunatics and druggies. I haven't gotten a big scare yet, luckily
yeah that's me
>lol I just did a tour through the gothic quarter today and it's pretty bad, full of homeless, lunatics and druggies.
yeah it did look quite sketchy back then, I imagine it's only gotten worse unless something was done to revitalize the area like other neighborhoods of bcn
Not really, I love this stuff and if it was up to me I'd talk even more and show more places
The only times I hate doing it is when the people are clearly uninterested or when there's a school trip and the children don't give a frick (but children love animals so I just switch to talking mostly about that)
How long until it's finished?
Allegedly in 2034. It will look like this (your pic is old btw).
do you go to montserrat with groups? you must be pretty fit and healthy if you do
do people ask for tour guides to the bunkers? I only saw groups of friends sharing a beer whenever I went there, but I always went at sunset
I was walking through the gothic quarter with some friends at night and people offered me drugs very openly lol, do you get tourists scared about it sometimes? It was the first time something like that happened to me, we produce but we don't sell it like that
did you manage to rizz some girls while working?
I wish, I thought I would do it more often, but it's mostly couples and families, I never get single young women. Well, today I got a big family that had some teenagers, but that's a no-no
>I never get single young women.
brother, assuming you want to pursue pussy, you should push more on taken girls anyway. if they dont wanna cheat its fine, if they wanna cheat - that relationship is over anyway kek
I'm decent looking but not extraverted enough for that
you are a very wholesome person
do you do your tours in Spanish or Guarani?
>I'm decent looking but not extraverted enough for that
fair enough, but if you dont push yourself past your own insecurities then you will stagnate and be introverted forever
i wish you all the best, spanishbro
I still socialize often and get pussy sometimes, but I still appreciate your advice and I know you are right
the 3 main ones are American, Indian and Singaporean (the tours are in English). But I've also gotten French, Quebecois, Dominican, and German.
Mostly in Spanish but I'm the English guy as well
Used to do haunted tours of my city to help with college. It's not so bad if you get a good group that's engaged and asks questions. It does suck when they just take out their phones and film the whole tour in silence, though.
what are the nationalities you met the most ?
good night, not answering anymore
