It's a great getaway when the Northern Hemisphere has shit weather. The middle-class are generally friendly if you can speak Portuguese.
Also, it's HUGE. Factor in travel times and don't expect to see the whole place in under a week. That also means you have Cities, Rainforests, stunning beaches, Pantanal, Deserts and many Natural Wonders to choose from.
Play it safe, hide your valuables and use safes/lockers when possible. Don't go into favelas, and if you do, go with a reputable guide. Stay in/near tourist areas and enjoy.
Just don't go to Rio and you'll be fine. The north has nice beaches and food(depending on your tastes) and the south is normally cold and a tad more wealthy. For some reason foreigners WANT to visit the slums.
I'd be interested in visiting the south of Brazil. I've heard its really developed and safe and has a European feel to it. How cold can it really get anyways? Certainly nothing like in North America or Europe. Any recommendations for beach towns/cities?
This is just bs Brazilians with inferiority complex say to try to get acceptance from westerners/1st worlders. These are the same people who tell you not to visit Rio btw.
Cope. I'm a Brazilian of White descent (Austrian and Iberian) and some areas in Brazil 100% have a European feel to them, and I'm not talking about the modern Paris feel. And even then some places in the North, that actually are full-blown third world, are still more tolerable than Northern Europe in the winter.
>some areas in Brazil 100% have a European feel to them
They have a european "feel" to them like Morrocco still kinda has a french feel to it yet are still thirdworldy in a lot of ways that matter.
Nah, I've met plenty of Brazilians before who are genuinely full-on European white. I've also seen footage of cities down in the South, and yeah its not a carbon copy of European cities, but they do have a cleaner, more organized Med European look to them, and are supposedly much safer than the rest of Brazil.
Even white brazilians lack the sensitivity and mental stability you see in european culture. I don't like both of these people but I much prefer euros over white people who are born and raised in the third world. They are all rednecks in the head.
I'll give you having better mental stability for sure, but euros being overly sensitive bleeding heart cucks is the reason the place has turned into a refugee camp in the span of 20 years.

Overpriced and dangerous. There is nothing in Brazil you cannot find in SE Asia for a fraction of the price and in a much safer/cleaner environment. Yes, Brazilian cities are absolutely filthy even by third world standards. There are no cultural attractions either which is a shame because the country has a very unique history that sets it apart from the rest of the continent and even the New World, but for whatever reason they make no effort towards preserving any of it.
Brazil has an incredible number of horny single butterface women with pornstar bodies. If you don’t mind a 5 face attached to a 9 body it’s the place to be. They literally always want sex.
It is really that bad ? If you're in big cities where there's people just living their life and don't go out at night it should be good no ?
I've traveled for 4+ years total already and went on every continent except south america. I'm only 35yo so I'll get there someday.
It's more about curiosity and see the whole world than just maximising my pleasure or just checking my list, I really want to see and experience it.
That's enough for 2 weeks. I'd recommend 5 full days in Rio and at least 2 full days in Foz (argentinian side, brazilian side, the bird park and you could go to Paraguay for some hours just to say you've been there and also visit the Itaipu dam if you have time) but three is recommended. São Paulo and Ilha Grande you use the days left as you wish.
Also crime is bad but as long you have street smarts and stay in touristic areas you'll probably be ok. People get robbed like once every 20 years. So spending few days in a place you'd have to be really unlucky to be a victim (but yes, there are some people that have been robbed several times and tourists that get fricked).
And don't listen to those people that tel you to avoid Rio. Its the only city in Brazil that is a must visit.
>awesome advice
thank you - i hadnt thought about jumping into paraguay so thats a good shout. i want to do a bit of record shopping whilst in the cities so the time spent there is fine for me, my missus wanted more time at the beach
see some guys in here saying don’t go to rio, but honestly i’ve heard as long as you’re staying in areas like copacabana and ipanema its great. i mean do your due diligence obviously and figure out beforehand what areas are good and what ones aren’t, but honestly i think rio would be a good option
>go to rio
i will !!
Brazilians themselves call rio a disgusting dysfunctional shithole. It is Brazil's version of detroit.

isnt that kind of the point tho. we love to think how sophisticated we are in our supposedly advanced countries but we have shit holes too. everyone freaked when i said i was visiting colombia but no one butted an eye lid when i took my gf to New York and Philly which both felt much less safe..

The women are good looking but weirdly pretty c**ty, Argie women despite having a worse reputation are honestly much more friendly. Brazilian women behave like attractive burger women, very c**ty and think they’re better than everyone plastic instagram onlyfans fitness prostitute US vibes.

As far as I know, only a few cities look 2nd world while the rest of the region is thrid world but not as bad as the rest of the country.

Brazilians only say that to sound like they have the same safety standards as europeans, Rio is no worse than most of the rest of Brazil.

Thats women everywhere bro, even in Asia.
