What's the most degenerate thing you saw there?

Someone ate a shit covered squarell from someone else's ass.

Someone beat me down in public with a rock because his mom didn't like how J looked, the security lied to the police, and the police said that if I pressed charges, then my attacker could press charges too. I later filed a police report, then the detective on my case told me they couldn't pursue it because all the witnesses didn't want to snitch.

It was hard to pick just one, but this one shows the multifaceted issues with Vegas, and why it's not safe to live there.

I go there for work sometimes. Avoid the strip like the plague. What’s an off-strip restaurant I need to check out?

The strip is fun you get one of those Fat Tuesday drinks and just browse from casino to casino

I bet you're black and moving to texas

No, I'm not black. I moved to my girlfriend's place, which happens to be more liberal than Vegas.

Moving to Texas would be a death sentence for me.

I lived in Vegas for 2 years. I once saw a black SUV that was upside down and on fire after an accident. It looked like it had slid 1000 yards. They must have been doing 140 miles an hour to slide that far. We could see that a bunch of black males were in the car and trying to climb out the windows, but were having trouble because the car was upside down and the roof was crushed. We slowed down, looked at them and just kept driving. No clue if they all burned to death. Don't care.

There must be a news article if your story is true.

Whether it's true or not, Vegas has the lowest standard of driving of anyplace I've been in the US.

Depends where you are. I was born in Vegas and grew up there, although I moved away more than 10 years ago. Parts of Henderson and Summerlin are very nice, although I have heard that the city has gone downhill overall since I left, with more crime and homeless. It's not a bad place to live for the most part, I enjoyed being in the suburbs outside of the city. Not that many great job opportunities there though.

It's a good city for someone without a college degree. The hotel, casino and restaurant jobs pay enough that a couple can buy property and raise a family. I lived there was I was 23 and had my own apartment and had a lot of expendable income for buying shit and going out a lot.

The SUV thing was 100 percent true. I remember we were on the west side of town on Spring Mountain heading east towards the Sahara casino. It would have been around 2005. I doubt it made the news. But you're free to look around. A lot of crazy shit happens in vegas.

why do Hawaiians love to move to Vegas

because CA is even more expensive

I've never met a Hawaiian person in Vegas, so I wouldn't know. The trend of who moves in seems to be based on character, not ethnicity, at least in my experience.

Where did you get that idea from? A lot of them actually move to Utah.

It's well documented (in local media for example) that a shit ton of Hawaiians (and other random islanders like Samoans) live in the Vegas valley (the "9th" island) because Hawaiians have asian cultural affinities for gambling and because its a place where people who have hospitality experience can easily get hired.

          >hawaiians have affinities for gambling
Gambling is fully illegal in Hawaii. They don’t even have a lottery

            Anonymous

Yes, that's why they go to Vegas.
Also gambling is illegal in Hawaii due to paternalistic attitudes democrats have towards minorities.

What's the best hotel I can stay at on the strip or fremont where me and 2 of my bros can sleep but all have separate arrangements. Ideally 2 beds and a pullout couch or somethin. We don't want to share beds we are all men in our 30s, but also want to save money by splitting a room 3 ways

Do you really hate fricking that much, or have you just given up?

If you are that poor hold off on your trip, pick up some over time and get your own room. You are a grown-ass adult.

Just given up tbh. Too poor for Vegas hookers, and I'm not going to spend more money on my own room just in the hopes I can get a girl back there. Also, I'm not *that* poor but I managed to get tickets to a band at The Sphere, so we have to go during that time, cannot reschedule the trip

No hotel in Vegas has a pull out couch. I can't imagine how disgusting that would be if they did. The best you can hope for if you need a third bed is one of those ghetto rolling cots they bring up. Two of you are probably going to have to double up in a bed.

Do you have a car? And what month are you going.

if you don't have a car, that kind of eliminates some of the cheaper options because you'll be too far from the action. There are lots of good condos on Travelocity. Staying downtown might not be ideal if you want to spend a lot of time on the strip and don't have a car. Ubers are expensive in vegas. The time you visit matters too. You can get 3 rooms in February during the week for the cost of 1 room in May on a weekend. Look for Planet Hollywood for a good central strip location.

        >Do you have a car? And what month are you going.

going in April for a concert, we are flying into Vegas, not planning to rent a car at the time, but we have considered it. One of my friends coming with used to live in Las Vegas so we know a lot of good off strip bars and restaurants, just not hotels

I did find a room at the Rio with 2 beds and a sectional couch...but it's at fricking Rio. Ideally wanted to be on Fremont downtown or on the strip for easy access, preferably downtown really, but started looking at the strip since it seemed like they had more room options.

I'm fricking kicking myself in the nuts because we had the opportunity to book the Spa Suite at Golden Nugget for 460 per night but it said there were 6 rooms left so we waited to book, then it was all booked the next day

          The Rio is fine.
And it's a small walk to the strip where you can think about your life choices.

          >paying 460 per night in Vegas when there are literally 50000 hotel rooms in a 10 mile radius
moronic. Whether you’re dirt poor or wealthy it’s moronic to pay almost 500/night to sleep unless it includes all meals and booze free and a $250 gaming credit

I’m pretty sure a suite I stayed in at the Venetian had one. I know that we got two small bedrooms and some way for the third member of our party to sleep comfortably enough in the living area. Maybe it was just a couch? Whatever it was, it was comfortable enough for a tall adult man to sleep on it without whining. We were a group of four adults, two of whom were not fricking each other, sharing the suite.

The best hotel would be wherever you have connections who can be your bodyguards, and it would be wise to carry pepper spray and/or guns.

Have a remote job before making the move. Avoid local employers.

Reddit censored me by deleting my posts, suspending my account, and the commenters trolled instead of engaging with my posts in good faith. I'm never returning.
