I am being forced to go to Vancouver, Canada in a few days.
I haven't booked a hotel room yet, but what I see are all weird sex dungeon designs with black painted walls and red coloured bedsheets or some airbnb that has weaselled its way onto the hotel booking site. I don't want to pay US$500 a night for some basic room with clean white sheets, nor do I want to stay in a hostel or pod hotel. Also why are all the signs on every building in Chinese?

I grew up in Vancouver, and live in the US now as a much more successful person than I could have ever been in cucknada. You are now aware shitty accommodations like Days Inn go up to $200 CAD, or $300 CAD for an airport hotel as a colleague recently told me.
Growing up, Vancouver hotels were never that expensive. In fact, the local tourism board would run promotions where you stay 2-3 nights and get a Visa/Amex gift card when you check out every shoulder season.
But nothing there goes for near $500 USD, CAD is very low again and the cucknadian government has created so much money CAD is worth about half of what it used to be. Case in point: the minimum wage is now $16/hr, but has the purchasing power of $8/hr, which was what I got paid as a high school student.
Since the Four Seasons Vancouver (a bargain compared to any resort destination) has closed and they are literally gutting the building, my choice is either The Douglas Autograph Collection (https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/yvrps-the-douglas-autograph-collection/), or the Metropolitan Hotel (https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/yvrbr-metropolitan-hotel-vancouver/)
