i give up.

i give up. I'm cashing in on my shitty investments and pension and fricking off to somewhere cheap to live free until i drop dead. my priorities are sunshine, cheap accommodation or free camping, decent and cheap food options and relative safety. no one what's to be shanked and robbed in the middle of the night. where does SighSee recommend?

Grand chaco, South America. You have a choice to live in the Argentina or Paraguay part. It ticks all your boxes.

Spain. Southern Spain (Andalusia) specifically. It's cheap, it's safe, it has gorgeous nature and great cities.

I considered Spain. but thinking SE Asia might be the ticket. 10 bucks a night can't pass that up

PH is generally safe for foreigners, but apart from a handful of touristy or affluent areas, you will be living the slum life there. Even popular expat destinations like Angeles are seriously sub-par in many quality-of-life aspects, like the food (godawful for even my low-class taste). This is why the vast majority of the nation has no foreigner presence, despite very lax permanent visa requirements for retirees. Philippines as a whole is a lot less pleasant and aesthetic than living in, say, one of Mexico's historic city centers - but PH is much more respectful, welcoming and easygoing than violent LatAm shitholes.
However, shit does happen in PH too; you can never trust anyone 100%. coomers are the most targeted for ripoffs, scams and thefts.

ph is high on the list and worth a visit. what can I expect price wise for a cheaper air conditioned room and how long can I stay? otherwise I think northern Thailand would be good.

Go to PH. You will not be welcome in Thailand with the kind of plan you have, they will smell you out and they are not friendly to that kind of people. But the PH they will still worship you as long as you are white.

egypt red sea. was in hurghada recently and it was warm but not hot due to wind, felt safe (police everywhere), cheap accomodation (300 Euros a month for a nice appartment). super friendly people. pic related was 3 Euros. their currency went to shit recently. could get even worse (better for me). Cairo has two hour power shut off in the night, touristy areas not (yet)

probable itinerary is set. fly into bkk in feb. spend a day or two decompressing in a hotel on a quiet street. eat some good food. then move on by bus or train north towards lampang then carry on north to pai or chang rai. figure out the rest when i get there. I'm guessing cross the border into myanmar or laos when my visa expires or when I get bored then decide if I'm going back to thailand from there. am i moronic?
