I just realised Indonesians Malaysians and Filipinos have to pay for expensive plane tickets and hotel to travel to Saudi Arabia holy shit.

Imagine being some poorgay in Indonesia your life consists of subsistence farming coconuts or working at an oil rig 16h a day and you HAVE to pay thousands to some rich Saudi prince for a hotel room otherwise your family thinks you're gay.

I'd kill myself to be honest, how do you guys manage? Do you just ignore it and not go?

Sorry if I do that I will have to ritually wash myself

My question was serious by the way, how do Indonesians cope?

        Anonymous

what cope? nobody cares about it if you can't afford it
if you can afford it then it's up to you
Also we literally have an agency to handle hajj funds, if you think all the money only goes to saudi then you're big wrong, because we charter our own airlines, pay local staff as a guide there and export our local food to feed them

          >nobody cares about it if you can't afford it
          According to

I assume you mean the Hajj? The Hajj is compulsory only to those who can afford it. It is not compulsory if you can't afford to or if you are not fit. You only need to do it once in a lifetime. Those who performed the Hajj will have all their sins wiped clear, so for a Muslim it is worth it.

your sins are forgiven for going it so if you don't do it your sins are not forgiven, obviously

And it should be obvious how paying to travel to Saudi Arabia benefits Saudi Arabia regardless if you bring your own cans of tuna or not

What if you can afford it but it's a large commitment and you have to save a lot?

Also by the sound of it you're basically paying some Saudi prince for indulgence, if you're poor and can't afford it you have your sins still?

Except the church, at least catholic church, no longer does that
Part of penance for serious offences is making a confession to the authorities and serving your sentence, and they haven't taken money for indulgence since at least ww2

It is a corrupt organisation so they ignore it for their own but there legitimately isn't a major church as of 2024 where there is a real cash for heaven scheme, at least not in the major ones. Maybe russian orthodoxy

It's the same as in Edo period Japan when the Shogun limited the local warlords' power by forcing them to spend a certain portion of the year in the capital away from their lands, so that a large portion of their revenues ended up being spent on travel and lodgings and they didn't have as much time or resources to be self-serving and conniving

Yes and this has been happening for centuries. You'll find muslims who don't have any house or land to their names yet still saving up for Hajj. All the money that'd otherwise goes to develop and contribute to the economy.

You shouldn't even talk about it. Government and political parties in collaboration with various NGOs directly manage the Hajj program.
Many people here believe that Hajj is more important than sending your kids to college.

People know whether you're cut or uncut.
The norm for male is you get circumcision in elementary school, once you passed elementary being uncut you're going to face the pressure. If I was that uncut kid I'd partly blame my parents for not cutting my dick.

I'm circumcised and have no problem with it but I'm sure I'd be happier if it's still intact. I don't blame my parents for my circumcised dick. This is why I'm unsure about my hypothetical son, but I'm certain to not cut my hypothetical daughter.
