I would not say it's special really, it is just one of the 4 or 5 large American cities with actual sovl
It kept its colonial heritage extremely well. Lots of other bigger Eastern cities did not, such as Baltimore and New York
The good:
>Very historic by American standards.
>Pretty easy to walk to a lot of the major attractions.
>Solid museums, though not the nation's best.
>Some genuinely charming areas.
>Good food.
>A lot of interesting things in the surrounding area.
>Can easily take day trips to other cities like NYC or DC or various beach towns.
The Bad
>Dirty in a lot of places.
>Public transport isn't the best.
>Black folk.
>Black folk on 4-wheelers.
Homeless are also a major issue
> 4 wheelers
the other day at Ridge Avenue / Fairmount / broad I saw the dirtbike brigade fricking up broad street. I couldn't cross the street for literally 5+ minutes as probably around 1000 buttholes on dirtbikes ran all the lights while no cops were around. I like Philly but it's basically a real life example of what would happen in an anarchist society with 0 law enforcement
did you stay in kensington lol
parking in philadelphia is hell on Earth, basically have to pay for a garage / lot to guarantee a spot
>parking in philadelphia is hell on Earth
Yeah but people can live in Fairmount, Fishtown, northern liberties, old city, south Philly without a car. One of the only cities that's actually possible and cheap
yeah I don't have a car and I save so much money, it's not for everyone but I'm fine cycling everywhere. It's more annoying when I have people visit and they ask where they can park and you have to break the news to them.
Philly has nice neighborhoods and shitholes, same as every city. Don't go to strawberry mansion / nicetown / kensington / north philly in general.
Used to take the 32 home from school, was always fun going through strawberry mansion/allegany kek
The crime I saw in Philly in 4 days was the most visible I've ever seen in American city. I had people openly try to sell me crack. I had friends robbed at knifepoint. I saw someone robbed at gunpoint. Someone pulled a hammer out on us for getting too close to them. 2 different cars tried to hit us while we were biking. Someone in a cheesesteak place tried to fight us for not ordering fast enough. When we left the city and went to a campground at Ringing Rocks State park, they wanted a credit card, a driver's license, a $200 security deposit and they asked to search our car. Security drove around all night and had to check on us 4 times to make sure someone didn't murder us while we slept. This was for tent camping in a park. I've traveled a lot, and Philly is the worst city I've ever been to in the world.
This didn't happen and ringing rocks isn't in philly
It absolutely happened. Every word of it. You may be used to living among poverty, drugs and perpetual violence, but I have news for you dude, the rest of us don't live that way. I've never seen anything like it. Not in Baltimore, not in Memphis, not in St Louis, not in LA, not in Portland, not in Louisville, not in Chicago, not in Oakland, not anywhere. You live in the worst city in America.
If you had actually read the post without being high on meth, you would have seen "When we left the city and went to a campground at Ringing Rocks..."
Sounds like an average weekend in Philly. I used to go up there on the weekends since Delaware was boring. It's a crime ridden shithole and its only gotten worse. The parking situation was also insanely bad.
order faster next time, homosexual
It's a large city where you can still see the roots of America. If you made all the poor people disappear the city would be beautiful
The Philly crew father Doris!
The only funny thing to come out of Opies show
>what makes it so special?
Kensington. If you haven't been, I suggest you check it out. Worth the visit, 8/10
philly is absolutely ruined. it USED to be basically the capital of america.
Black people bring a certain level jazz and razzle to an city that no one else can.
The city design in the best in america. Beside for kevin bacons dad cutting off the rivverfront with a highway
