I wanted to go to Mexico City, but my friend won't take my suggestion because he's "been to Mexico twice already" (both super touristy parts and not Mexico City).
So we agreed on going to Dominican Republic, and I'm wondering whether I should go to Santo Domingo or Punta Cana.
I'm personally more into going to cities than resorts, while he's the opposite.
Even though I like resorts too, I also need to have nearby things to do outside of the resort, particularly night life and restaurants that aren't full blown tourist traps.
For what it's worth, I speak Spanish pretty well.
Those of you who have been to Dominican Republic, what are are your experiences there and what advise do you have?
Both of us are into drinking and eating, but it's nice to have at least some cultural stuff to do as well.

CDMX is so much better than literally anything in the DR. Your friend is stupid as shit and you should ditch them.
By the way, its obvious that your friend's previous MX visits were to some resort town, or Cozumel.
Ditch your friend and go where you want to go. DR isn't even cool.
I tried telling him that, but he's an idiot.
I actually told him that going to say, Punta Cana would be more like Cancun than going to Mexico City.
>bar hopping and banging Dominican bawds
Honestly what I had in mind though
I literally had 100 matches on tinder within 2 days of arriving here and I'm not even white. These bawds assumed I was a Spaniard or something. I guess they had never seen a Colombian before

But don't women in Latinx America toften trick gringo tourists on twitter then rob them?
>Honestly what I had in mind though

the only nice parts of Mexico are Cancun and Acapulco
if you want the narco kidnaping experience , just go elsewhere
anyway OP
just go to punta cana, DR has amazing beaches,
the rest of the country is not worth risk visiting
There's nothing to do in Santo Domingo other than bar hopping and banging Dominican bawds, who will throw themselves at you as long as you're even remotely light skinned.
Punta Cana has some beautiful beaches but other than that, whale watching and snorkeling, there's not much else to do
>my friend and I want to travel
>we want to go to different destinations
>to go do different things for different reasons
>with opposite interests while on vacation
>what do you recommend we do?
Go apart and have a vacation you will enjoy instead of paying full price to enjoy half of a vacation just because your friend is going.
I've got a plan tripped with my bros for spring break and they have given me full carte blanche on planning. All the stops, the itinerary, the bars and restaurants, all me. They get input on the airbnb but not the location of the airbnb. If you aren't on the same page like my bros are with me, then go to mexico alone and enjoy. I've done vacations like yours with a friend who wanted to wing it, and it was shit. I have a plan that I had to abandon because he got drunk and overslept or just didnt want to go, and if I went without he was a b***h about it because "shoulda waited for me and wasted half a day waiting on me bro."
If you want downtown nightlife to slay DR pussy, santo domingo is your stop but your friend will be at odds with you because hes going to want to resortmaxx in punta cana. Seriously reconsider whether you need to travel with your friend or not.
I actually have done most of the planning on the vacations we've went on (my friends are too lazy and not savvy enough). We've always had a great time and have been generally on the same page once we're actually there.
So I'm sure he would be fine drinking in Santo Domingo and getting hookers.
The thing is, going to Santo Domingo from New York is cheap enough that I'm okay with it even though it's not what my heart was set on.
While Punta Cana resort would be more money so it would have to be explicitly better for me to want do do that.
It looks like the beaches in Santo Domingo are not great.
Is it easy to get from Santo Domingo to Playa Boca Chica?
Punta Cana. You can take a day trip to Santo Domingo to see Zona Colonial if you want because that's the main thing to see in Santo Domingo. PC is much better otherwise.

What's the prostitution situation like in DR?
You guys gotta tell me about the hooker experience!
Hope you like fat and ugly black single mothers, because that's all you're going to see.
there are a lot of hot Dominican chicks where I live, so I was just curious
Update: booked a room in Zona Colonial in Santo Domingo
am curious about what I should check out around there
