Seemed like a first world European city but cleaner. The only people complaining about it being expensive are local Russians. Compared to London the place seemed cheap as hell.
The problem is the language (as other anons said) and the sanctions. I'd bring enough cash but I always like to bring my credit card in case of emergencies.
This is Patriarchs Pond, a very upscale, wealthy area of Moscow, hence the sports cars and the like. Much more of Moscow is normal city, but at that I found it clean and safe. Madrid, Paris, London, etc. all have their rich areas and then the rest of the city - this is normal with all cities. However with Moscow, I felt the safety and cleanliness extend beyond in ways not in western "Europe"
I think the city is largely navigable with English and you can learn some phrases to be polite and show effort. Many people are all too eager to speak to you in English. There are fun touristy things to do generally, even if you do not have a particular interest in Russian/Soviet history. However you can't run out of things to explore if those are your interests.
Sanctions have not made things ideal, but cash is always still king. You can find best exchanges with map here: https://cash.rbc.ru/
Also, a local SberBank would happily register you for a basic debit card. You just need the required documents (easy). And that way you do not have to fool with the currency each time you want to pay + use contactless payment on metro
Well, their government can always open up the mines and factories of the nation with the most resources spanning 13 timezones and make things for its citizens to consoom.
If it was that easy to turn on production they wouldn't be at a stalemate with a small country for the past two years. It's affecting all of their industries
>taking Ukraine in 2 weeks
No one ITT has said anything like that (except maybe for voices in your head).
How disappointing, the thread could have been interesting and informative with real experiences but instead I heard shit I can go on youtube or rumble and hear about everything other than travel. Wasted thread
Well, it in fact started as interesting and informative, but then came the seething butthurt belter who seems to be on here 24/7.

You're talking to the voices in your head, as I've said.
NTA but having a buffer against NATO is a major concern. Look at how the US reacted to soviets in Cuba.
Plus Ukraine has world-class farmland, better than anything in Russia

You know, since Cuba, precisely guided intercontinental rockets exist, you know, the whole point of the Space Race, so buffers mean nothing. Stay in school kid, you might be able to think for yourself one day.

Hostile? The West is more than willing to trade and work with anyone. How did Russian oligarchs get assets in America or England or wherever in the first place that are now apart of the sanctions? You're really incapable of thinking, aren't you?

Yeah, that's why the West has sent a large chunk of it's manufacturing overseas to develop other nations.

Look Im not a >USA BAD
guy buy any means, but to suggest theres no hostility between the US regime and the Russian regime (long pre dating 2022) is preposterous. Whether it's good/bad/reasonable/unreasonable is entirely beside the point - it is there

If you're referring to the US sanctioning Russia prior to 2022 because Russia aggressively expanded its already large territory in Georgia and Ukraine, then ok, USA is hostile for not rewarding barbarism.

>NATO buffer is a concern
It wouldn't have been an issue if Russia just stopped invading its neighbors. After the Ukraine "3-Day SMO" shenanigans, Finland joined the club. Do you see how that works?

Moscow is paradise if you have money and speak Russian. Though I much prefer mid-sized post soviet cities like Almaty or Kazan.
Without Russian language skills there is zero point in going there for anything other than surface level tourism (which is still much to be fair)
For the most part it is, in the center at least. But yeah, don't expect many people to speak English.

It was but money has started getting tight since the war in Ukraine. Wasn't meant to go this long and it's showing

They're more concerned with selling the resources for money then providing for their people.
Wow I didn't know that a country of 45 millions and the size of Texas is "small"
Kek we've gone from taking Ukraine in 2 weeks to Ukraine is as strong as Texas

>No retort
Sounds about right
So why haven't they?
They don't need to
Why do they need more territory then.

In the city center, yes. It gets shittier the further away you go from the center.
