Is Tbilisi a nice city?

I'm going to Europe soon and I have a lot of extra time in one city. Is Tbilisi worth taking a flight too if I get bored?

Tbilisi will be the next Prague. Give it 5 years and it'll be even more insufferable. It's nice, cool city. Go now before it's ruined by Chinese and American tourists.

      >Go now before it's ruined by Chinese and American tourists.
The problem now is that it’s filled to bursting with mostly-dissident Russians, who are playing hell with the rental markets, driving up prices, and apparently mostly not noticing that 90% of Georgians fricking hate Russians. More than any other post-Soviet country apart from the obvious Ukraine.

That said, Tbilisi is really beautiful, and still pretty cheap by international standards. But fat chance finding an apartment.

The bad thing is that Georgia has EU aspirations and now a frick ton of liberals from Moscow and St. Petersburg fleeing the war. That means that native mentality is about to change into a neo-Western globohomosexual image.

        >still pretty cheap by international standards.

        STOP. THAT.

Georgia WAS cheap, 3-4 years ago but that's not the case anymore. I fell for that meme and I was there for a month now in April and the place is fricking expensive compared to neighbouring Armenia.

Georgia is a 3rd world shit-hole with damn expensive prices at the moment. A litre of milk is 4 euros, while in Ireland (the most expensive country in the EU) it costs 0.90 cents. A fricking CAPPUCINO in Georgia, 5-7 euros, against 3-4 in Ireland.

Georgia's cheap days are over. Spread the word.

Where are you going for coffee? I used to go to Coffee Lab in Saburtalo quite a bit and a coffee there was only 6 lari, which is 2 Euro? And that's quite a hip place.

            Anonymous

When was the last time you went? Or, alternatively, did you go back when you could get hip/trendy/fancy drinks for less than a euro? Maybe 1EUR isn’t a huge hike but that’s also literally more than twice the cost of what it used to be. Also I was there very recently and coffee is more like 3EUR now anyways (and climbing) I can easily afford this as a foreigner but it’s annoying as hell, many places are closing, and the locals can’t afford shit which is fine because I don’t care about the 1.5mil Giorgi Qartvelishvilis but it fricks the economy and GE will be in an even worse place in the near future than it was for the first 10yrs after the collapse of the USSR

About a year ago. I can't remember what coffee cost elsewhere because it was still cheap. I've only been the once, I don't see how you can sell coffee for 1 euro and make a profit.

Istanbul was much cheaper when I was there. I could get coffees for 50 cents euro and even Starbucks was cheap because their currency crashed. Not sure if things have adjusted since then. A shave was about 1 euro, I had my boots cleaned by a guy by the sea for 2 euros? I can't remember, it was basically free.

Turkey is cheaper, gas more to do/see, and is MUCH easier to get to than GE. Prettier women as well and your chances are also better. Highly recommended country. Skip Tbilisi, but up Constantinople

I visited Tbilisi 3 years ago and few months ago.

The place is swarmin. Kutaisi is still relatively cheap, but life in Tbilisi is equally as expensive as life in fricking Germany. Just saying.

I still think you can live comfortably if you manage to find good long rent. $500,700 /month is possible, maybe not in Tbilisi

And it's still 10/10 country if you are Euro moron and never been anywhere else and want to live Schengen 🙂

I meant to say and want to leave and experience life outside of Schengen, and 700/mo as total incl rent and food, single person. 500 is imho also possible, but maybe because I'm poor Slav and know how to squeeze the most out of my monies

Was. Isn’t any more. Not because of Georgians pricing out their own people for Russian expats, but because it’s ruined by the globalhomosexual agenda because they want to join the EU. The wine is made interestingly but tastes like shit. They bottle their own natural spring water which is really good, though. Food’s shit, except the bread but all ex-Soviet countries know how to bake. All the touristy spots are overrun with Turks. Everything else is not worth visiting, unless you’re hell-bent on trying to appear cool and hip where you can only end up in 2 places: Fabrika or Stamba. Fabrika is packed with obnoxious 20 somethings and you will be extremely uncomfortable if you try to go if you’re older, last I was there is was 25 and seriously they were sniffing out anyone who was 30+ and shunning them. But why go anyway? Overpriced, loud, crowded, hard to get to. It’s also an LGBT HQ so no, there’s no nightlife scene in Tbilisi. Stamba is more relaxed but hella boring. Weed is legal in Georgia so go there if you want to smoke really shitty pot I guess. The metro sucks. It has horrible coverage and it’s always cramped, even more so during peak hours.
    >it’s a metro what do you expect
I mean, they are working on it I know, and Georgia does not have the population or money/resources Russia has but still…Russia has them beat by so much it’s not even funny. The marshutkas (minibuses) are also a joke. No air conditioning, cramped, rude drivers and passengers, ridiculously overpriced - and inflation is fricking them hard. There are upgrading their bus fleet so maybe that’s better now or will be soon. Ah, speaking of money: the dollar doesn’t go that far. It fluctuates between 2 and 3 lari/GEL, so the exchange rate obviously favors Americans but not by that much. Looking to shop there? Forget about it. Yes they’re 30yrs behind the west so malls are still a thing and people hang out there but you won’t be buying anything worth your money, and there’s

a lot of fake shit. Or did you lose your AirPods? Break your phone? Enjoy the “we’re so small we have no official import channels” tax where you pay 20% more for an electronics product in a country full of poor people that can’t afford it. Also I know this board is 75%+ coomers so I’ll just go ahead and say it: the women are nasty. Most of them are actually at least part Turk, Azeri, or the bad (dark) kind of Armenian gypsies. While they are nice enough to foreigners you can’t go and just pull the exotic card. The girls aren’t interested in you unless she’s a gold digger but you realistically won’t be interested in them. They’re built like fridges. Shape is much more important than size but they all have flat asses and Caucasians unlike Slavs don’t have breasts until they become mamashas or babushkas and get these giant saggy things. This tends to happen at about 30 btw because all the drinking, smoking, etc. leads to them hitting the wall hard, though unlike girls in RU/UA they aren’t hit first. Maybe hipless, flat, hairy, no-ass chestlet girls with messed up teeth, bad breath, and dark peasant eyes are your thing but even if they are, they don’t like to put out. They’re bawds and bimbos because Gen Z (up to about 23yrs imo) will dress like prostitutes but despite this they hide behind this fake Orthodox Christianity shield and use that as an excuse not to do anything.

Armenia has prettier women who are also pretty hard to get, but will also appreciate you more and genuinely have traditional/conservative values instead of putting on this phony charade. What else sucks? Flying there is a pain, and there’s not really any good flights at all. Taxi drivers at the airport will rip you off unless you know how to use Yandex Taxi to circumvent this. It’s not cold at all, in fact it’s hot as shit and some areas are also stupidly humid. Europoors are nasty so don’t expect hygienic bathrooms. Beaches on the Black Sea are not any more interesting in person than in photos. Black sands? Cool. Rocks? Lol.
I will say this: It’s safe. There’s a shitload of pajeets in Saburtalo for some reason but next to no nogs. The sad thing is they aren’t racist towards blacks like they should be because they do t have much experience with them. I do find it annoying personally that the only nogs there are men, and you’ll see a decent number of half black 18yr olds around as if 20yrs ago Georgia took in a bunch of refugees from Kenya. Yes I’m racist, deal with it. I shouldn’t have to see lightskins and just know “Oh the father is black.” Anyways as I was typing,

        >mostly-dissident Russians

is correct. Georgia isn’t a cool secret frontier, you just haven’t been or heard of it because it sucks. Yes it’s safe, and honestly despite all the shit you hear about South Ossetia or Abkhazia you could honestly probably go there and be fine. The natural beauty can be okay…if you like skiing Gudauri is cheap. Lagodheki is a pretty enough park.

          Some other things:
          >guttural language is gross and when spoken sounds like the speaker needs to constantly spit
          >language is so rare gl learning it - just acquire a few Russian phrases instead
          >the old churches are cool enough to visit but don’t really warrant going to the country alone
          >summer there is hell, in any part of the country
          >prostitution is very low key and kept under wraps, locals only
          >don’t be fooled - drinks aren’t that good there
          >my above advice shouldn’t be taken because you just shouldn’t go
See Armenia and save money (though don’t stay long)

I’ll stick around the thread and answer specific questions until Giorgi shows up and starts talking about his country’s rich history or about some famous poet names after gay little boy Japanese drawn porn. Yeah, Shota Rustaveli. Frick you. Your King Tamar isn’t impressive either. I hope Putin turns his sights on you instead of Ukraine and this time you won’t have Saakashvili to blame the war on

Armenia has all the churches from 600-700AD you’d want to see, prettier women, it’s far cheaper, and a little Russian will go a much further way. Plus they’re even less visited than GE so you’ll get better treatment for exotic points.

Is there a whole lot to do? No, not really. If you like history, architecture, religion, outdoor activities? Then it’s okay. Food isn’t any better than in Georgia, alcohol is about the same quality. I would go see Yerevan again for sure

              >GEORGIA BAD BECAUSE GLOBOHOMO

About half the reasoning to visit some backwater, 3rd world conservative country is to get away from all the globalhomosexual bullshit. One of the few things separating Georgia from other destinations was this. But now that’s ruined. The low prices? Also gone. And it isn’t some secret haven anymore. It’s boring and played out. You’re a moron

Not who you're replying to, but I have also spent a lot of time in the Caucasus. Rantposter above is pretty spot on about everything. When I first went to Georgia it was 20$ Airbnbs, now those same ones are listed for 60$+.
For the other two countries though
              >Armenia
              -Less interesting geographically
-City center is nicer than expected
-Somehow lodging was more expensive than Tbilisi. Didn't have a blossoming tourist infrastructure to make housing all the Russian cowards which has in turn driven up prices
-For some reason had some of the best burgers I've ever had (I'm a burger from peak burgerland too)
              -Less English spoken than Georgia

              >Azerbaijan
-Most of the country is dirt
-People will stare at you constantly for no reason

-Architecture is best of the three
-Hardly any English, on par with Armenia
-They fricking hate Armenians and are insanely patriotic there
-You may or may not be turned away at the border if you have an Armenian stamp (same goes in reverse, almost was left by my mashrutka because I was being interrogated at the border going from Georgia to Armenia)
-TONS of prostitutes from all over who go there to serve wealthy pajeets and arabs who go there to cheat on their wives
-Lots of Arab tourists in general
-Mud volcanos are a meme, for something being perhaps the most famous natural 'wonder' of the country they are fricking dumb and boring
-Azeri Caucasus mountains are just as if not more impressive than Georgia's

Idk, I love the Caucasus but I feel like their peak is over due to the Russian coward diaspora. Georgia probably remains the most interesting of the three, but it's really just a bad time to go there with all the tension between the Georgians and the Russians who have colonized it in the last year. Lots of xenophobia if you come across as a foreigner because people will assume you're a Russian.

wouldnt reccomwnd going. they hold pride parades that are more like protests every month instead of keeping it contained to june. the more they do this progressive bullshit the more they become westernized and the more normalgays will go there due to feeling comfortable. that becomes a viscous cycle obviously. le dank left agenda has a foothold in the country and that’s impossible to get rid of once it takes root. all the zoo metres are lesbians and every older woman has already hit the wall whether married or not. street shitters and chinks have taken over downtown

but it IS cheaper than visiting western or central european countries so you can save some money - just go to batumi instead which is practically turkey and mostly inhabited by perma-vacationing rich oil barons from the middle east but eh, whatever. just stay away from tbilisi. never been to kutaisi so no comment

The mashrutka ride from Tbilisi to Yerevan can be pretty cool if you get the route that runs through the semi-abandoned soviet mining towns, more boring if they go the Lake Sevan route.

Still though, I would suggest picking either Armenia or Azerbaijan because if you try and do both you stand a chance of being denied entry to one of them or dealing with the headache of some dickhead mashrutka driver leaving you at the border because you're taking too long.

I went there looking to setup a base for my online businesses. Even with the attractive visa and tax situation I don't see myself going back for a long time. I found the country pretty depressing really; everyone is broke, complains about how shit things are and yet things (as other anons have mentioned) aren't that cheap.

People kept on telling me that everyone is on $300 a month and yet a simple haircut was $15 and AirBnbs were $1000 a month. Don't go to Tbilisi for dating, go there if you want a trad wife. Use the Russians for cooming.

The people are nice and overall decent, but the whole country is just old and decrepit. Interesting place for a week's visit but don't consider moving there unless you're a turbo autist regarding low taxes.
