Is there any reason to visit South Korea if I've been to Japan?

Is there anything that sets it apart or makes it distinct from Japan?

If you actually like to communicate with locals during your travels, Korea is far superior. It's also cheaper. That's about it.

Korea is more similar to China than Japan. They are actually quite different, you aren't learning the language so similarities there are mute point. The cuisine is completely different, they use different ingredients, different dishes, different chopsticks and dishes, different ways of eating, different customs and different culture. Korea is only similar because or occupation but they are strongly trying to be their own identity. It's a short trip over, you might as well visit both countries.

I can sum it up like this

    Go to Japan to relax

    Go to Korea to party

      >Go to Korea to party
This. Korea is great to go to with a bunch of friends for cheap alcohol and great food. It's generally a pretty lively place to go to as a group.

Korea is kinda underrated, it's worthless if you're a weeb for the most part.

It's a fair bit cheaper than Japan, you can still find 10-15 dollar 1br places around Seoul that a month will allow you to see pretty much everything.
The high speed rail is also a tad cheaper from my exp since they aren't bleeding money on a new rail line that's delayed to hell
Foods pretty good though people here absolutely lose their shit because it's often spicy, primarily pork/chicken dishes but it's not exactly hard to find beef
Clubs are probably more open to foreigners or more welcoming feeling than Japan. Not sure why but Japan's clubs always feel like off
Nature is pretty good as well
People often tend to be more open about how things are rather than japan where they are near daft mutes and just roll with whatever stupid shit they are told

Biggest issue with Korea over Japan is that Korea is proud of being superficial in things. There is so much fake shit in Korea that people will brag about as where Japan, stuff is often not as talked about if it's a knock off. This goes from everything of a girls body to a "historic site", they just don't give a frick.

If you went to Japan and Otaku/Weeb shit was 50% or so the reason you went, Korea will be a bore

    Things Korea has over Japan:

    -hotter women (kreampies)
-WAY more english. Probably half of people in their 20s are comfortable talking in english if they have to. Compare that to like 5% of japs from my experience.
    -partying
-koreans aren't autistic and have the stupid little autistic japanese rules, where if you break, they autistically seethe at you
-koreans have more personality, lots of people joking and having fun in public. they like to party. Japs are scared to be looked at in public
-medical tourism. go join the korean men and doll yourself up with cheap botox, laser treatments, facials, anything you can think of.
-same infrastructure perks as japan (S tier public transport, delivery services, convenience stores)

Korea was such a surprise. I liked it more than japan. I will daresay: if you enjoy meeting and chatting with locals when you travel, and aren't a weeb, you will like korea more than japan. There I said it.

You're kidding right? I booked a month private room in a hostel for ~500 dollars in Seoul. Busan and Jeju I had the same-ish level of pricing 30USD/night on the waterfront. I have a hotel for 3 weeks as well for ~450 dollars.

Overall the food, entertainment, and booze is cheaper still.

Not really that common. I'm sure you can find instances but it isn't common.
Also some clubs outside of Seoul would let me in for free while Koreans paid a cover

Actual korean here. I'd say basically both of you are correct, but I'm surprised there's more people now that are willing to try amd speak English. Koreans get flustered easily.

Any generalizations about personalities/vanity is just that: generalizations. Koreans are like Brits where they silently judge dumb behavior. I would say the Koreans that go clubbing aren't any more vain than LA influencers.

I got a month to spend in Korea, plan on 1-2 weeks in Seoul, same for Busan. Any recs aside from usual tourist stuff? Idgaf about nature stuff for the most part, especially if it's 3 hour bus to walk another two hours to see a 3m waterfall and some mud.

There is some shikhye (?) and makgeolli manufacture on one of the hills, with some good food as well. The opening times as weird af so look it up before going. Sorry I'm lazy to look up their name, but if you look up makgeolli and Busan on Naver Maps you will find them.
If you are very bored and the weather is good, Surf Holic. It's a nice place to just chill at, also if you don't want to rent a surf or take classes.
I enjoyed the usual tourist stuff, too. There were only 2 places that were overcrowded, that colorful village part on the peninsula and the temple on the coast.

Note that the South and West coast is indeed mud, but the East coast is rocks, sometimes sand, water. It looks more calming to me at least. There's the metro that takes you up that coast, too. Don't expext Seoul metro frequency from it.
Seomyeon on a Friday or Saturday night, but you know that I guess. Otherwise as a tourist I think Nampo serves as a good base as well. (It also has minimal nightlife, it's not completely dead.)

See museums I guess, go on a hike (although there’s certainly better countries for hiking).
That’s why it’s not a very touristy country.

Japan is sadly so much better it's not even funny, do Korea first so it's not ruined by constantly thinking about how things would be better if you were in Japan.
I really wanted the memes on this board about Korea being "discount Japan" to be false, but the only falsehood to them is that Korea is MORE expensive than Japan, not less.

Not “loads” but you can effortlessly save 500-600 USD a month. I ate out way too much and hit up Itaewon every weekend and still managed to do that. If you’re good at saving you’ll save over 1000 USD a month on a 2.2 mil KRW salary (the usual starting salary).

I got my first job in Seoul. Some satellite cities are nicer than others (Ilsan and Anyang are pretty nice)
At least when I was there last year, there was a huge shortage of teachers. My hagwon hired some guy who was an absolute moron (his interview was horrible even) just because they were desperate (he later left on a 4 day notice do go to Nepal), and this was in Seoul
Finding a job in Seoul should be achievable, just apply if you want. Recruiters will probably try to push you to places outside of Seoul though, but you can also just look for jobs on craigslist (although a lot of places prefer to use recruiters due to the immigration process).
Also being younger, a woman, white (if you're not Korean), not obese, and North American are all advantages. I'm a younger skinny white North American, so mileage varies

No. Hogwons and EPIK/GEPIK are cutting benefits/conditions and the pay is now terrible, especially considering the cost of living.

Also, local attitudes towards English teachers are worse than in other countries, probably because locals know that pay is terrible, which means they can't attract more qualified teachers, which causes them to despise those who do go and so on in what has become a vicious spiral.

They aren't willing/able to either pay enough to attract the people they'd like (the way the public schools in Hong Kong do, for example), and they're also not really culturally willing to be civil and kind to the calibre of person who is willing to go to Korea under current conditions and pay.

So no, it's not great, and I'd give Korea a miss.

Where would you rec instead? Heard China is good for pay

China is quite good in Asia in terms of pay relative to cost of living. Air quality sucks, people can be rough around the edges, and the CCP meme is real (that said, air sucks in Korea as well, and if you're worried about locals fricking you over that's a Korean specialty as well to about the same extent).

Japan is what it is, might be worth it for the weeb memes and from what I can tell the people are more polite and easier to deal with on the whole, but in general conditions and pay are poor considering the cost of living and workload. Taiwan is a lot cheaper and I've heard some good things about it, but it's still the same general bag as Korea and Japan in the end.

Just be realistic about what you're doing. If you're an uber-weeb, go to Japan, but have a plan as to what you're going to do next and sincerely follow through, whether that's quals, learning moonrunes or whatever.

And try to get a realistic idea of what the place you're going is like. Do listen to negative and positive opinions, don't fall into either the trap of dismissing naysayers as "losers," "LBHs", or whatever the pejorative is, but also try to be realistically positive about what could go right.

If you can, don't "marry" any individual country. If you get more quals and save your money, the world can stay your oyster. If you do things like jump into literal marriage with a local woman or spending all your effort on language learning and things like that, well then you could end up stuck. Only get stuck when you really want to get stuck, if possible.

    Korea is different.
Japan and Korea food are both top tier and they differ very much (spicy chicken and korean bbq is a must)
K popular culture is a shitty mix of american and Jap cultures, while at the same time almost all population beside parting youth have chink man mentality.

go there if you want America-lite not Japan-lite
most nightlife areas don't let in foreigners at all because of all the military, so the foreigners congregate in hongdae and itaewon and it's a literal BLACKED cuckpost IRL most of the time
and by that i mean horny black military dudes and edgars trying to pick girls up

outside of that it's uneventful, the cops are homosexual and militarized, all cooming is banned, and they refuse to use international apps like google maps, WhatsApp, LINE, Apple Pay, etc. but i guess busan is pretty and there's some cool shit to do and eat in Seoul

out of everywhere in asia they have the best american food and shopping though, and they don't have autistic laws on CBD and vaping products.

There's a sex industry, but it's mostly out of the eyes of foreigners.
If you go to Pyeongtaek station, right to the side of it there's an entire neighbourhood filled with prostitutes in glass windows, though even if you speak korean well they won't let you frick if you are a foreigner

Lol South Korea is nothing like Japan, if anything Korea has more similarities with China. Superficial people obsessed with status and face culture, the main attraction of Korea being malls and shopping, hivemind culture where most people behave like braindead zombies just following what's popular or what everybody else is doing. One of the big things about Korea that sets it apart from other asian countries is that they have a huge drinking culture there where they even have to drink with their boss and coworkers after the work day is finished. There's also more of a focus on hierarchy in Korea compared to Japan and China, it's basically forbidden to ever show disagreement with an elder or a boss.

Let me get into this too, Koreans are my specialty. Younger generation are Western and insufferable gays judging and superficial as if they were all princes and princesses. Huge gaps in inequality insures low fertility rate, high suicide, and problematic characters. Most recently this culminated into the Ferry incident that claimed the lives of 100s of savable children's lives. In short, Korean culture is a Chinese ethics and morality with a veneer of westernization. If I had to be really racist, I would say Koreans are the israelites and Nigs of Asia all rolled up in one. One other thing is racial nationalism. This will be a problem one day but many Koreans think they are the best in everything. I had one Korean guy FOB many years ago tell me Koreans originated ramen.

Korea is basically Internet: The Country.

Because under the KDJ administration, broadband was rolled out earlier than in most Western countries, all the shit that is characteristic of the Mayan Apocalypse in our part of the world (dating apps leading to 80:20, the horrible snitch culture, radical feminism, vicious yet covert racebaiting everywhere, blackpill shit and the preoccupation with physical appearances) came to them (and to a lesser extent, Japan) faster.

So true. Japanese made North Korea paranoid and schizo; For the South Koreans, Japan is always the perfect distraction from failing domestic policies such as the "comfort women"--this hits a particular nerve in korean male voters and ofc conflated to archetype levels as related to Korean history of xenophobia through the dynasties and Japanese occupation. But yah, if you ever hanged out with the older male korean fobs out drinking they are twice as bad denigrating their own women. Complete 180 degrees with Zoomer korean males as I think I have heard they have it real bad nowadays; they got roped into the Metoo movements and feminazi crap.

I generally roll my eyes when Koreans blame shit on the Japanese, but in the case of North Korea especially I think they are to blame for a lot of Koreans' attitudes. Basically a lot of the shit foreigners complain about with regard to how Koreans treat them (SE Asians and Westerners especially) is basically a continuation of Japanese attitudes. The Koreans have actually preserved Japanese World War II-era attitudes towards them better than Japan itself did. A lot in the specific way North Koreans demonise Americans is completely lifted from Japanese wartime propaganda.

      Anonymous

As Koreans say, nobody in Korea steals anything except bikes. Now, I never had a bike in Korea, so I had nothing stolen. It's "I have left my phone to charge in unmanned laundromats for hours in many places in Korea, including the center of Seoul and nobody even touched it" levels of safe. See also: hostels that leave the entry code of the hostel on the front door itself that is locked with the same code.
The unmanned convenience stores do see a lot of theft, but not enough so that it would be worth for the owner to hire staff.

The danger is called drunk drivers and drivers falling asleep.

Koreans and Asian-Americans like repeating this meme, but I don't think it's true. Girls in places like Singapore and Hong Kong are pretty fussy as well, and a lot of them are all about the money which the average random white guy doesn't have, certainly not by local standards. And yet they don't have the same reputation for being unfriendly and generally shitty that Korea does.

So no, I don't think Korea's reputation is entirely or even mainly a disillusioned sexpat thing. Certain people would like to think so, because this frame bolsters their self-esteem, but really Korea has this reputation because it has earned it! Which is why even travellers from neighbouring Asian countries who've been there tend to have a similar opinion of Koreans, despite the whole sexpat/race angle not even entering into the equation.

You don't need to be white to have an unpleasant time in South Korea, in fact if anything Westerners on average still tend to be somewhat more positive on South Korea than people from other backgrounds.

Wanting to stay in Goryeo for late fall and early winter months. For mental health I need a place to exercise regularly. I have anytime fitness membership, so that is taken care of if I stay in Seoul, but the franchise is absent elsewhere. However, seoul is several hundred usd more per month for worse accommodation than various other parts of the country. I hear the costs of short term gym membership is ridiculous... how ridiculous? If I opt to go with a place in a smaller city, will the cost of a gym eat up the entire savings?

The biggest issue with living in Seoul is probably gonna be the high deposit costs, rent isn't too bad but it depends on the place you get and the area.
Usually with gym memberships here they tend to be decently priced if you sign up for like six months, but really expensive if you only sign up for one, if you plan to stay in one place to entire time I think you should be okay.
My reccomendation is Busan, you can get a good one room around Haeundae or Gwangalli with ocean view for a cheap deposit and rent, easy access to gyms, and weather tends to be better than Seoul.

          Anonymous

I'm not exactly sure because I've never tried to get rentals on a tourist visa, but most contracts are signed on a yearly basis, you might be able to talk it down to 6 months.
Additionally you could use either AirBNB (no deposit, though rent is usually more expensive) or Goshiwon/ Oneroomtels, some of which are okay but come with some disadvantages.
They are definitely less autistic about it compared to Japan though.

Some of the small neighbourhood gyms are not too expensive. Jjimilbangs also can have workout areas and those are cheap to go to and you get the nice bath/shower/sauna along with the workout. I second the hiking suggestion, but I would recommend not around Seoul as it gets pretty crowded. Seokcho has some national parks close by that are incredible. Many of the neighbourhood parks also have workout equipment that is free to use. You will see the old people getting down on these. The winter can be pretty cold though so you are going to want a good jacket if you go outdoors.

tells others that Korea is hard to coom in

Let's face it, there's an obvious agenda there. And no racial double-standard, I think the same when I see some copecel on /misc/ trying to say that all women hate even attractive nignogs or whatever. The rule is the same everywhere in the world: be attractive, don't be unattractive.

Theres no agenda, some places are harder to get laid than others. No idea why people get mad when they are told that Korea is hard to get laid in. The country is snobby and international as frick so it should come as no surprise to others that Koreans aren't gunna start blowing the first foreigner they see

          >The country is snobby and international

What's international about Korea? It's literally one of the most homogenous places on earth, also Koreans barely travel besides going to Japan to shop and Guam or Hawaii to sit on the beach. It's literally the opposite of "international."

My whole point was that no, Koreans aren't snobbier than anyone else. Hong Kongers and Singaporeans are just as snobby, maybe even more because they earn like 2x what Koreans do (Korea's average income is like what, $3,000 dollars a month? whereas Hong Kong and Singaporeans are much richer on average and so harder to impress).

I think you guys are trying to push this idea that Koreans are snobbier, because you see it as a way to not-so-subtly increase the status of Koreans. I just don't think it's actually true.

Actual (rather than desired COL-matching) wages in South Korea have stagnated. The median (i.e. half of the population get more, half of the population get less) salary in South Korea is just 801,667 KRW per month! By contrast, the median salary in the United States is around $4,000 a month. (Average salaries are no more flattering to the Koreans: the average in South Korea is $3,000/month, average in the USA is $6,228/month).

I have no idea where the perception that typical South Koreans are wealthy comes from. It must just be because Koreans tend to spend a lot of money on cars, clothes and skincare, and generally be pimped out.

Korea is harder simply because there is no prostitution industry open to foreigners and the country is rich enough that you can't just use your racial arbitrage to get women. Going by the Japan general most guys are just banging pros. In Korea you actually have to legitimately get women to like you to frick you.

My point is that South Korea is actually poorer than other technically developed East Asian nations and territories (it is now actually poorer than Taiwan). The money argument doesn't seem to follow, Korea is mid in that respect.

Doubtful. Taiwan dumpy as frick and homeless everywhere, yet richer than new cars everywhere Korea? COPE and seeth bro, you're a nutter.

Yeah, Taiwanese aren't any richer than Koreans lol. The average monthly wage in Korea is $2,272, and in Taiwan it's $2,218.

                Saudi Arabia - $48,910
                South Korea - $48,310

What is "racial arbitrage" exactly? And again, the United States is still on average a much wealthier country than South Korea. Perhaps not to quite the same extent as before the 1980s, but still quite substantially. If it's harder for white tourists in Korea than it used to be, the wealth gap likely isn't the reason.

My guess is simply that dating apps and social media mean that the curve is just steeper in general, which means that a lot of relatively average white guys who might have been in with a chance decades ago are filtered, in favour of well, Chads, regardless of their nationality or race. It hurts average foreigners, because very few of them are top men. Being foreign in the past used to be just a random thing that made you stick out in the bar or club, like having interesting hair, being able to play an instrument, or being moderately jacked. Of course, in the modern dating scene, you have to do a lot better than that to attract attention, i.e. be Chad.

Just as many average Koreans are also getting filtered by the same Chads (who are overwhelmingly although not exclusively local and Korean).

tl;dr dating apps and social media are fricking over the little guy and that's probably you regardless of your nationality or origins. This is happening all over the world btw so there's no escape unless there's no Internet.

              Anonymous

"Racial arbitrage," if that's a thing, was only somewhat about being rich (unless we're going all the way back to Korean War-style throwing cans of spam and cigarettes as a flirting tactic or something).

If it was all about being rich, Saudis would be at the top of the dating scene in Korea (I'm sure if you they start throwing their money around, they can get women in Korea, but that's because of their money, then, and not because of their race per se).

          >some places are harder to get laid than others

What do you base this on? In every society in terms of "free" women, there are prudish people, and more extroverted normie types.

If you're basing this idea on guys who go to SE Asia, they're banging literal prostitutes, and those are available everywhere. The only reason sexpats go there is because the hookers are cheaper there. If what you mean by Koreans being harder to get laid with is that they cost $150 to coom in while SE Asians are like half that, then yes, I agree.

The Korean narrative goes a little like this:

    >Chinese and Japanese don't like us for defying and outshining them
    >SE Asians and Taiwanese don't like us because of their inferiority complex
    >Westerners don't like us because we aren't willing to be their yanggongju (Yankee Princesses) anymore

But you have to wonder, if so many different people come to dislike Koreans, can they all be wrong? I suppose if you look at it a /misc/cel-y way it might be "based" or whatever. But on the whole, I think Korea really is an unpleasant place, and Koreans an unpleasant people.

The reason Korea doesn't get praise is because the average Korean does not give a flying FRICK about seeing yet another white guy who's probably either an English teacher, Military personnel from the US, or some other business person visiting.

They don't bend over for tourism bucks like Japan does, nor do they care to do so outside some very specific things.
The food is literally a mash of everything with no real identity because Korea was poorish farm land for a long fricking time before Asia modernized.
The identity and culture is more openly superficial because there isn't too much of an identity Korea has outside "look how great we caught up with the world guys!'

It seems every time I talk to people they don't like it because they aren't oggled by the locals for gracing their presence or it's not <shot from shitty japanese/chinese B movie>. Korea is a perfect spot to just take it easy, the HSR is cheap towns outside Seoul and Busan are relatively quiet, and you very rarely run into other tourists. The biggest negative Korea has is that it isn't so HEY FOREIGNER COME HERE COOL THING TOURIST! LOTS OF FUN! compared to other countries, which does make it slightly more difficult to find exciting things to do but it's not hard if you are simply an outgoing person.

Solo traveled South Korea for three months and now I'm travelling Japan. Both countries has its good and bad, but personally I prefer South Korea. Japanese food, culture, hospitality and sex tourism (especially Tobita Shinchi and other red light districts in Osaka) is great, but it feels so lonely and isolated here, especially in Tokyo. A lot of things are designed for individuals e.g. eating alone at the counter, staying in capsule hotels without a common room etc. I have tried to going to bars and meetups but there's an obvious language barrier and some people are looking for a free English lesson. It's also crowded as frick with tourists and many of them are either families with kids, anime/manga weirdos, fatties from theUS, or pale whities who have never left their basements. There's a lot of adult content openly displayed in public. You walk around and see Tenga products advertised, you go into a Mega Don Quijote store on the 6th floor in Shibuya and see a 18+ section selling sex products right next to the kids toys, you see inconspicuous prostitutes wearing short skirts and cute little purses on their smartphones waiting for potential customers, you walk past a shit ton of love hotels, you see a lot of touts trying to get you into their establishments and women holding up signs that say 5,000 yen for 1 hour of drinking company etc. It's all too tiresome and crass the longer I stay here.

South Korea is dirty, their food can be a little shit, Koreans spit on the streets, some restaurants and clubs will reject you if you're either too old or not Korean, but I had a shit ton of fun and met a great bunch of people while staying at hostels, and most people were young solo travellers who wanted to party and enjoy themselves.

Someone mentioned South Korea for party and Japan for relax, and I think that's accurate. In my opinion it's either South Korea is underrated, Japan is overrated and romantized, or both.

Did you only go to tokyo? Literally get out of the golden triangle and all of the shit you’re complaining about will disappear. I had great experiences chatting with old dudes in an izakaya in Kyushu and locals giving me free food and drinks. Especially once you learn some conversational Japanese, then it really opens up. I was out in the countryside in Korea and it’s boring and poor as frick. Not to mention Japanese landscapes are similar to Korea’s but more varied and better. Also I’d kms if I had to be around another kpop/Kdrama obsessed white b***h.

The Pentagon still isn't quite sure ROKA conscripts would actually hold steady in the event of an invasion. Also it's good to have a foothold in mainland Asia generally.

I was hoping for seoul cause there's a unique store there that i wanted to visit but gyeonggi-do is great too. is it hard to find a nice girl if you're brown? I'm not particularly ugly and I speak korean just fine. I speak spanish too, don't they romance languages are hot or something? I'm not going for pussy but it would be nice to date somebody and find a gf so I'm not alone. I really don't want to interact with fellow foreigners and be friends with them. I need korean speaking pals.

hmm, I didn't like the culture as much as it was very fascinating. I like history and geopolitics, current events, wars (I love reading about 'nam)
because I thought they were some nothing irrelevant country like Belize or Hungary that had 0 culture and importance until Kpop slowly started hijacking the minds of everybody around me in the early 2010's. I thought it was just another footnote in American history cause of the korean war and coutnry south of kim jong un. Once Kpop was becoming a dominating force I began to read up on them I began to admire their struggle and everything they've managed to accomplish in only 2 generations: being transformed from one of the poorest countries in the world to a cultural and economic center deliberately by their dictator in the 70's and 80's. They're kind of a dark horse having never been in a position of power in their entire history in the shadow China (they literally believed it was their place) and then under Japan for decades where japan arguably raised their standard of living (for the wrong reasons ofc). Then their first pres conciously milked the US for millions in foreign aid. people were making less than a dollar a day.

I was also thinking of signing up for dance classes like salsa or swing if I can't find a gym or my schedule allows. I'm v excited and I've worked with kids in volunteer/afterschool programs for years but I'm afraid I'll choke when i'm in front of a class and my lessons will fall apart.

I had never heard of a govt making a show designed to make Koreans sympathize with the foreigners that are coming more and more each day. china is a bastardization of a modern nation run by a literal mafia that looks for any opportunity to backstab each other. they produce nothing original, they abuse their own people, and years of censorship and persecution has left the population incapable or afraid to be creative so they have to steal it from other countries. Yeah korea is p soulless but china is worse. Most of the chinese I knew in college were cool, my first kiss was a chinese girl and I still miss her. However they did like to scalp parking passes and seats in high-demand classes then sell them. they also sold 10 page papers for like 150 USD from what one of them told me.

          >i'm really concerned about acquiring some quality protein powder and lactose free milk
Go to coupang.com and search for "매일유업 매일두유 99.9 950ml, 10개" and "옵티멈뉴트리션 골드 스탠다드 웨이". Those are what I get. You can buy anything online in Korea, and get next day delivery. I have all of my groceries sent to my home. Order at night, and in the morning it's there. I recommend signing up for Coupang ASAP.
          >i also heard meat can be pricey along with fresh produce
Produce is all right is long as you buy stuff grown locally. Hope you like sweet potatoes and onions. Say goodbye to apples and oranges. Funny enough, bananas are cheap. But yeah, I rarely eat beef nowadays. Chicken breasts are affordable. I usually buy them frozen in bulk on Coupang. Pork and fish are cheap too.
          >dance classes
Harder to find outside of Seoul. Gyms are everywhere.
          >choke
Just remember, you're the boss. You're the big man on campus. Nip trouble in the bud, but be generous enough that the kids find you approachable. Set the rules, set the pace. Never let them see you sweat. Everything is according to plan, even when it isn't. And plan your lessons. Write them down and keep them handy when teaching. After a few months, you won't need plans anymore, you'll be like clockwork. You'll be able to rock into class with no plan and teach amazing lessons.

I still want to go outside and interact with ppl and places. are co-teacher nice and cooperative for the most part? based on the itnerview questions i got I am afraid that there's a chance I'll get some schizo who doesn't speak to me.

            >you're the boss
oh yeah, believe me when I say I'm an butthole to kids. especially 2nd graders who don't listen to me after I tell them 4 times not to do something. I actually got a kid suspended yesterday for swearing after I told my director. My issue is the actual teaching and preparation. But like you said, it will only get easier. Hopefully I get elementary schoolers between 8-10. Is the curriculum provided at public schools? They will outline what they want taught and when right as well as providing books?

Is there actually a lot of spare time for yourself or is that just a meme veterans with 2+ years exp perpetuate? I want to go hiking, eat, and meet nice ladies but I don't like clubbing or bars so idk where I would do that. Dating apps in the US is suicide-fuel for 99% of men.

Yes, very often, actually. Like at least 2 or 3 per semester.

          Anonymous

          Who told you that?
Korean women (unsurprisingly) go crazy for black men, as they are seen as more masculine.
Of course you gotta act and look your part as well, but if you are even decently tall (190cm+) and visibly regularly work out, you will literally drown in korean pussy.
          They will even openly cheat
on their boyfriend with you to get a taste of real masculinity.
Had a lot of women who got pretty upset when they left their boyfriend for me, but I told them I don't want a relationship after fricking them kek.

          >2-3 per semester
          bullshit.

          >if you are even a little bit masculine, korean women will throw themselves at you
more believable, but don't they prefer really skinny guys? masculine as in assertive ow what sense? planning the date, bringing flowers, compliments, eye contact, having your own place etc is p much baseline for guys to even get a woman's attention in LA. Is this what is considered "masculine" in Sk?

          >but don't they prefer really skinny guys?
Of course some do, but the majority will forget all about the kpop twinks once a tall, ripped Black guy walks into the room.
          >masculine as in assertive ow what sense?
Yes. That and being in shape, strong, confident, well spoken etc. The definition of real masculinity is the same across all cultures.
The good thing about Korea is that the direction of desire is reversed. In the west men simp after women to try and get them on a date and have sex, meanwhile if you are a desired foreigner in Korea you won't have to deal with all the nonsense like flowers, date planning etc, since the women are the ones trying to pursue you.

              Yes.
Why? Racism isn't really as bad in Korea as it is in SEA or Japan.
Like I said, women here love Black dudes, so the only "hostility" you get is from korean men, who are too spineless to actually to anything more than give you dumb looks sometimes, so it really doesn't matter.

Foreign men regardless of race (unless you're a 6'2 gyopo gigachad like myself) only get bottom of the barrel Korean b***hes. Sorry but it's the truth. I even see white chads in Korea dating ugly ass Korean girls.

By Chad I mean white guys who could easily date top tier girls in the West. But they're in Korea dating some uggo that Korean guys wouldn't touch with 10 foot pole. Truly perplexing. I get hot ass Korean girls though because I can speak Korean but I'm also somewhat exotic for being a gyopo. Best of both worlds!

This thread has been up a long time and I have probably already made some flavor of this post (or someone else has) but South Korea is an INSANELY racist country. Like people say Japan is xenophobic - it isn't. Japan is the most welcoming, non-racist country in the world compared to Korea. It is insane. The tiny slights I noticed in Japan, the casual subtle discrimination against the gaijin, are NOTHING compared to Korea. I was never once denied service in Japan, and while I'm sure being able to speak Japanese curried me a lot of favor and got me in doors that might have been closed for someone like an English speaking black dude, Korea is so much more extreme it's not even funny.
If you're white, and you want a taste of what it was probably like to be a black slave, go to Korea. They will deny you basic services. They literally do not care about money, they will refuse to let you buy things from them. You can't shop online, you can't order delivery, restaurants will turn you away, and despite the wageslave propaganda you see Koreans who don't work in an office job are some of the laziest people on the face of this planet. They literally do not care about bettering themselves or making money and as such they are more than happy to not make a sale if it means not providing service to an inferior foreigner. I cannot imagine I will travel to another country as openly hostile and unwelcoming as South Korea short of visiting a warzone.
I truly cannot exaggerate enough that you should stick to Japan or Taiwan or even visit Thailand or another SEA. There is nothing for you in Korea and Koreans hate you and do not want you to visit their country.

                >racism isn't as bad

Or maybe they don't give a shit if you're specifically white? All their apps require Korean ID (payment, shopping, entrance, etc.) so why bother with a foreigner if you can't sell them anything? Seems like something related to their security laws I guess.

SK seems worse than China in this regard since we chat and alipay now allow visa and master card to pay for things. Some internal systems like some hospitals require Chinese ID but are suppose to allow passports. However they just never enabled that due to forgetting that foreigners exist rather than actively blocking foreigners bc laws or frickem since you can still go to their staff windows and check in with a passport.

For real talk, most the shit you hear about Korea like "Oh no children literally were crying because I am a black teacher at me!" or "Koreans only like thin body types with light skin" or "muscles are a huge turn off for women!". Are generally all written by fat reddit english teachers or maybe people stationed in the military all trying to cope and justify their lack of social skills as to why women turn their makeup caked chins up at them. Korea is different than the west but it's not that much different, some girls like foreigners(regardless of color) for a fling others don't simple as. I would like to know this. I want to get facial liposuction (inb4 just lose weight fatty, frick off).

I've seen clinics that arrange everything including transportation from the airport but I'm worried about the recovery, is the food good or nasty slop and what happens if you aren't recovered enough to board the plane back? I don't think they let you onboard if you're bleeding out.

Food's alri but it's either painfully fricking spicy, like masochist level for people who have been burning their mouths and giving themselves diarrhea for their entire lives or it's painfully bland with essentially no seasoning. Or, worse, it's very sweet when it has no right being sweet (see Korean pizza)
Korean food is pretty grim compared to most other countries, I'd probably rate it about on par with British cuisine.

I meant more of the food I'd get at a Korean hospital since this is in relation to cosmetic surgery. I'm sure I can find some bulgogi or something I like but asian takes on "western" food like the pizza you mentioned are usually pretty atrocious.

they'll probably just feed you rice and maybe gukbap I don't know I imagine it'll be bland tasteless garbage

Yes, they are lots fun for sex and hanging out casually but many a guy becomes blinded by their hotness, starts falling more seriously for one of them, gets attached... and that often doesn't end up well

They barely look human with all the plastic surgery they get. You're literally having sex with an ogre wearing a mask. To each their own I guess.

old and shriveled. No one under 70 lives outside the cities. Enjoy hitting on some granny with a visor and a short perm while pounding 75 cents bottles of soju with some random old man who insists on paying for your dried squid.

It can't be that bad. There must be some ultra tight high school pussy as well

If the girl is super tight it just means she isnt comfortable having sex. They dont do stretching exercises before giving birth and can still fit a giant korean head through. Spend more time working her up, koreans have shallow pussy you can bottom out easily but wont cum as easily if you rush.

I am convinced dick size is a porn meme. Even tall white girls I can feel their cervix with my fingers, which are much shorter than my fairly average dick. Protip, the cervix should feel soft and open not hard and pressed.

That was not the point though... it was about the availability of curious hs girls wanting to try a foreigner before they go off for college

Dick size is a meme. If you ever go to JJimjillbang you will know some Korean dudes have exceptional penises.

    What's Jeju like?
It's supposed to be the Korean Hawaii but is it?
    Is it lively or quiet?

      Anonymous

Depends where you go, just like Hawaii. Did you book your hotel in one of the towns? It can get busy. Did you book elsewhere? It can get quiet. I would compare the vibe to coastal Oahu if I really had to compare it to anything. Definitely not Maui. The food on Jeju is better compared to Hawaii, the nature is obviously less varied. The beaches would be an insult to Oahu to compare.
If you liked Hawaii for its nature, you will be 100% disappointed with Jeju. If you like hanging out in beachside bars, restaurants, cafes, maybe do some hiking, you will love Jeju.
If you want Hawaii, go to Hawaii.
I did enjoy Jeju a lot, but then again you put me on a mountain with an ocean view, and you give me some good food, I'm happy.

How much and how high-quality is that South Korean plastic surgery? Is it sketchy? How would it look on the kind of guy you imagined when you read the first sentence of this post? Keep in mind that I am over 6 feet tall and skinnyfat, and I have genetic dark circles under my eyes and the famous Irish chin. I look like Haley Joel Osment in the pic related.

That dude looks totally fine, he's just overweight and his hairdresser hates him. The only thing he needs is changing his hairdresser, and showing up every month or two for a trim.

If you need people who are experienced with white features, but are not too expensive, you go to Turkey.
South Korea could maybe do your hair transplants, or some fillers for your undereyes. Then again, are you absolutely sure it's not some liver condition you inherited, or you're just iron/B12 deficient? I know way too many people who don't give a frick about their liver health, and their parents didn't give a frick about their liver, and they're surprised they all have dark undereyes... If that's not the case for you, yeah, Korea has undereye fillers for sure. There are tons if English options, too.

        I’ll keep Turkey in mind.
I did have jaundice when I was born…
I don’t go hard on the drinking that often but sometimes I do. I’d say I still drink a lot less frequently than people my age.
Parents don’t drink too much either but idk how much they did before I was born.
Legit my entire family from my Mom’s side has the dark circles though, all of my aunts and cousins have it.
