The cities suck ass. Mumbai is pretty cool though. Stick to rural areas.
Rural India is where the street shitting actually is a thing. It's like a step back 200 years in time as soon as you leave populated areas.
The only redeeming parts of the county I think are the himalayas, if you have to see them, the Andaman Islands and I've heard Goa and Puducherry are kind of OK, because they don't feel like the rest of India.
