>Avoid Part-Dieu at all costs.
Can confirm, was there a few weeks ago. I told a melanin-enriched gentleman who wouldn't leave me alone that I didn't speak French (not true but it usually gets rid of them), and he seamlessly switched to completely fluent, thickly MLE-accented English. I'm not joking, he sounded like he was straight out of Camberwell. Makes you wonder how many others are so committed to their craft, there must have been dozens of beggars in the vicinity of the station and then up the main roads.
Yes. In fact don't go to Lyon, avoid it at all costs.

Watching this thread unfold while living in Lyon is pretty funny.
People on SighSee didn't use to be so afraid of everything.
>La Duchère >safe
kek, you will have a belle vue for sure.
Also, "safe" = "sûr", not "sauf". Unless you use the idiom "sain et sauf", "sauf" usually means "except", and rarely implies an idea of safety or salvation.

Part-Dieu can be dangerous, it's true.
Once I was walking across Part-Dieu to go home after my job, and there was a white muscular manlet screaming, with glass shards in this bald head, having a nervous breakdown and being surrounded by 5 cops trying to calm down the situation.
There also used to be a gutter punk panhandling in front of the station who fought someone with a traffic sign.
It's the main train station, that's why I don't recommend to any anon on nu-SighSee to visit Lyon, nor Marseille since St-Charles is worse, neither Paris since Parisians are complete savages, whenever they are rich or poor, they will try to steal your phone.

Rather accurate, you just forgot to say Parisians will try to scam you by being smug, sooner or latter.

Grenoble is good if you want to hike on the surrounding mountains, otherwise the city itself isn't pretty, it's true. Only the south is truly ghetto, and no one in this thread has any reason to go there.
Yes my French has declined sharply.
In terms of Duchere I just drew the line up lol.
Also agreed on Grenoble.

I forgot to told you: don't think the Perrache bus station is any better, there are homeless migrants sleeping in front of the entrance, and the illegal prostitution hotspots are nearby, it's a sketchy part of town too.
Don't come here, I warned you.
Considered adding a 'do not enter' zone around Perrache. I was there when the cleaners went on strike and it was like a bomb hit it, worse than normal.
I get you are a bit joking, it's not really dangerous, only that there can be africans and arabs.
Part-Dieu is a place of flow with lots of people, and popular people, so blacks and arabs.
No, Part-Dieu is at a level where there are literally zero white people.
It's not a mixed/hussle-bussle/city-of-the-world kind of place. It's a ghetto.
No, I have been there. It's a train stop for whit french people going further south or north if their train is not direct. Near there is a commercial hub for any type of people.
Basically whites pass through as fast as they can to get where they are going while Black folk and Arabs stand around like NPCs. Same as Châtelet Les Halles in Paris. Safe as long as you keep moving.

>Post-industrial shithole with terrible weather and gang violence
That would be Lille. Marseille is Atlanta (very specific culture, people are friendly but want to murder each other all the time, cultural capital for music, scorching summers). Lyon is more a mix of Boston (people think they're hot shit, lots of historical stuff that is absolutely irrelevant nationally) and Philadelphia (weird food that no one should be proud of, drug addicts roaming the streets). People in Bordeaux also give off that uppity air despite being quite literally on par with Jakarta for traffic, smell, street hookers, and general unliveableness. And if you want that Florida experience Nice is 50% wealthy retired foreigners and 50% drug dealers and street food vendors. Want to feel like a minority no matter your skin color? Want to see what grimy really means? Well you're in luck, Montpellier exists. If you want less palm trees and more bricks go to Toulouse. Cities are always the most valuable parts of any country, France is no exception! Come visit soon!

Grenoble is the French Chicago
It’s also one of the ugliest city
Grenoble is good if you want to hike on the surrounding mountains, otherwise the city itself isn't pretty, it's true. Only the south is truly ghetto, and no one in this thread has any reason to go there.
its not so much that Im afraid. Its just digusting here sometimes. Go to Canada and compare what you see to Lyon and realize how shocking it is to a foreigner from a safer and CLEANER country. and yeah, saying La Duchere is better than Croix Rousse is just stupid. Pretty funny map otherwise though. Think Ill share it with french buddies for laughs
No I was serious. Nothing ruins my day more than a pushy beggar, and I have a bad habit of staying in cheap hotels which means I run into a lot of beggars and bad areas.
>being so fragile the mere presence of Africans makes you quiver with fear
b***h grow the frick up. Unless you're acting like a moron or flashing money nothing will happen to you in Lyon. Tons of people go into the city and use the Part-Dieu yet they all are just fine. If there was a problem the police would just send the morons off until they stopped being moronic.
French here, i haven't (and wouldn't) set foot in the following cities in the last 15 years:
-Paris (except Charles De Gaule for my layovers, i arrive at CDG and stay there)
-Anything around Paris in a 150km radius
-Lyon (even 20 years ago Part-Dieu was a hellhole), Grenoble
-Marseille again with a 150km radius around it, Nice
-Lille, Roubaix
-Rennes, Nantes is a mixed bag
I had a job offer in Grenoble back in 2021. I came there ...But they try made me sign for an AFPR contract (no salary, you get paid by your chomage).
Aprés ça, je changé la France pour le Canada mec. Je ne peux pas supporter non plus la gauchiasse social-comuniste française... Bosser sans salaire? Non, c'est quois ça? C'est quoi ce truc la?
Fake and gay. You have never been to France. 150km radius of paris has some of the safest whitest trad towns and villages you can imagine but then how could you know.
>Post-industrial shithole with terrible weather and gang violence

Lille is perfectly fine, I had a good time there. Just don't go to Roubaix, and you will have a great time. I agree about Marseille. Strasbourg and Toulouse were great, though Toulouse has even more people smoking weed than Amsterdam. Lyon and Montpellier are next on my list to visit.
I'm mostly memeing, these cities have ok stuff for tourists, even if most French cities have gone through serious demographic changes in the past 20 years, which can be unsettling. (Bordeaux and Montpellier have decent centers but really are hell to drive in though and Nice just isn't nice).
Toulouse is indeed a paradise for the 420blazeit inclined, in picrel I have marked the metro stations that have at least one conspicuous open-air dealing spot within a 3 minute walking distance. The police won't go for users if you're not too obvious about it.
I forgot to told you: don't think the Perrache bus station is any better, there are homeless migrants sleeping in front of the entrance, and the illegal prostitution hotspots are nearby, it's a sketchy part of town too.
Don't come here, I warned you.
>Shit culture,
One of the top cultures, up there with Japan and Italy. Definitely not shit compared to anything anglo, german or east european. >shit people
arguably yes, it's 50/50 >shit weather
half the country has shit weather, the other half is comfy mediterranean weather >expensive and filled with blacks and muslims
Still mostly a big city problem for half the country. Some cities are even mostly white during the day, but around 10 pm you only see packs 3 or 4 of blacks roaming the streets coming from wherever.
Marseille has Baltimore style crime on a Chicago scale but with AK47s. All the drugs, guns, and other illegal shit coming from Africa goes through there. Lately some woman in a building near got killed by a stray bullet.
Also some people getting burned alive.
Huh. I used to live in the north east of lyon in the literal projects. Its fine. Its not really even dangerous. You can walk from the main center easternmost in a couple of hours. There used to be a lot of good thrift stores. An average american whonis not a little b***h will be perfectly fine. It just LOOKS like the wire lol
Best butcher is literally right there in the so called bad side of town. Although idk why any superficial tourist would have need of going to lyon at all for more than 1 day maybe going up the monk path to the cathedral. Its not designed for tourists mostly.
The OFFICIAL guide to Lyon. Avoid Part-Dieu at all costs.
Edit because seemingly my French has gone to shit.

Are you seriously telling me that almost 2/3 of the city is dangerous?
Yes. In fact don't go to Lyon, avoid it at all costs.
Yes my French has declined sharply.
In terms of Duchere I just drew the line up lol.

>Canada is the metric of a superior civilization
Yeah, remind me never to go to France lmfao. What a fricking shithole.
not sure how you confused “safer and cleaner” with “superior civilization”. Hope it’s bait cause if not you might be moronic
Phew, the museum of fine arts is in the caution zone. I've saved your map and will keep it in mind for when I book a hotel in Lyon next month.
I hate beggars with a passion so sincerely thank you.
Can't tell if this is sarcasm so thanks? Presqu'Ile in general isn't great but there's a bunch of stuff there. Beggars are present there.
No I was serious. Nothing ruins my day more than a pushy beggar, and I have a bad habit of staying in cheap hotels which means I run into a lot of beggars and bad areas.
It's not as bad as, say, Dublin or other cities, but there's some beggars about.
>being so fragile the mere presence of Africans makes you quiver with fear

What the frick, even Bretagne is lost?
Nantes is totally fricked with migrants by now. Definitely not safe at night, and 50/50 during the day in some parts.
Also, for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the french regime has decided to deport all the homeless from Paris and force them to relocate to other areas.
I had a job offer in Grenoble back in 2021. I came there ...But they try made me sign for an AFPR contract (no salary, you get paid by your chomage).

Here is a video about Lyon, you don't need to speak french to understand:
Here is Nantes:
Great stuff anon thanks

Grenoble is ok, you can always drink Chartreuse to forget.
>Green chaud
Is that supposed to be ugly?

Yeah. Go to Marseille instead, nice coastal city with friendly people
France just sounds like an awful shithole in every way. Shit culture, shit people, shit weather, expensive and filled with blacks and muslims.

Wouldn't it be Marseille? It's the second city, it's a port city, lots of gun crime relative to the rest of the country.
Is France just turning into America, wtf? They have gun violence now? This whole thread makes France sound ghetto as frick.
>This whole thread makes France sound ghetto as frick.
It is.
And those 2024 olympic games will be fun to watch:
