Nashville, Miami, New York, Boston all are good places to visit and are trans friendly.

Border patrol will plant drugs in your bag if you go to any of these, and then your vacation will end up being in Guantanamo Bay.

What languages do you speak? Assuming you are decent with Spanish, Spain would be my first choice for overseas travel. Second would be Mexico, but not Tijuana/Ensenada, both of which are overpriced shitholes. The central highland cities of Mexico have far superior urban culture and a much greater variety of lodging and dining options. Driving Baja is fun if you like roadtrips, but it will be hot and humid there for a few more months, and desert beaches do not have shade.

Assuming you are a beaner. Stay the frick away from mexico if your spanglish includes words like parkear. You aren't going to be safe alone. So make sure to take a relative with you who has once lived there. Especially if going to smaller towns where narco traffic terrorism is a very real thing. Taking a relative there will show you what the pre signs of danger.
For your very first trip just go to the east coast. Become amazed at how different yet the same thing the country can be.
