Thinking of going to Jordan in Sept for two weeks and potentially adding a week in Egypt. OR maybe 10 days in each.
Anyone got any advice/warnings/tips - going with my partner so dont need to monger but am worried about being hassled. We've travelled a fair bit but other than a weekend in istanbul this would be first time in super islamic countries
We want to see the obvious things - Petra, dead sea, desert, pyramids, nile, sphynx this is an absolute normie sightseeing thing.
btw. I'm not trans. nor is the missus.
thanks

Gotta do this less or the joke doesn't work. Can't say the same thing in like 3 different threads. It's a small board, we've seen it already.
I'm going to bump this with a semi-related question, doesn't deserve another Egyptish thread.
Anyone travel to Egypt anytime recently?
I've wanted to go see/tour archeological sites (if that's even possible) and the big sites my entire life.
Is it irresponsible for a not too traveled American to go? I've made it a point to travel more and was considering the trip for my next birthday.
Why would it be irresponsible? You will be hassled a lot, though.
>Why would it be irresponsible?
I was just trying to not sound like an idiot. Basically, is it safe? I don't travel abroad a lot, but you don't hear great things about Egypt for Americans, just trying to avoid any bad situations. Might be a stupid question.
And I know "is x location safe" is a pretty bad and too broad question already. Just looking for advice or experiences.
>hassled
How so? Vendors and whatnot? That I can deal with. Honestly, if I went I'd like to go with a trusted guide company or something. If that helps at all.
I've never used one, and normally plan my trips myself, but this might be worth it.
Yes, Egypt is one of the worst countries in the whole world for this.
>sir sir you want camel ride sir only 10 euro sir no? I take your picture only 5 euro. camel picture in front of pyramid sir 15 sir you will like.
>sorry sir this entrance to Sphinx is closed but I take you in taxi to other entrance, short trip only 12 euro.
It's like Bangkok levels of pushyness from touts but ratcheted up with the middle eastern arrogance.
That's fine, I'm sure it's fricking annoying, but I can tell people to frick off in a polite enough way that I'm not too worried about it ruining a trip.
I'm talk about getting robbed, getting stabbed, hardcore scammed, or just winding up in a bad situation.
