Is it worth it to live in iceland, or will I just doom myself to isolation and misery? My life is shit and I have no one. American culture depresses the hell out of me, and the cities here are some of the worst I've seen around the world. I flew through keflavik airport a couple of times and the cities near there seem cozy. The constant cloudy and rainy weather was nice too.
cringe
tell me niglet
>prostitution illegal
avoid living there unless you're Chad
There's a reason many Icelanders go away for months at a time, because it gets depressing in winter and there's actually very little to do. Plus it's obscenely expensive.
where do they go away for months?
usually spain or greece
>Is it worth it to live in iceland
Hello ESL
literally nothing wrong with that sentence
t. ESL
moron
As I said, hello ESL
>living
no jobs there unless you REALLY know how to code Python, then you could maybe get hired on Eve Online's dev team
I know women there are turbo feminists and the whole country is run by women and everyone hates men but that's about all I know. I met one woman from there and she was so hot but frick was she stupid. I don't think I could live there.
Running away from your problems is a weak take anon. If you can't find happiness in your situation, what makes you think it's going to be any different in another? I wish the best for you but I don't think dropping everything and starting over in Iceland of all places is the way to go. There's a good chance you might end up even more isolated and depressed. Again hope you find your spot anon.
Spread FUD all you want, Im still not coming to visit you in the nursing home
Anon I lived there for two years
> Getting a job is difficult if you don’t have some weird skill they want. Nepotism is how iceland works. I think ‘low‘ paid wagie jobs are easier to get. Met a guy from Manchester earning great money by bong standards in a branch of Bonus supermarket. Visa issues maybe if you’re not EU
> winters are long and dark and very cold
> snow looks nice at first but after several months you’re sick of dealing with it
> serious imagine getting out of bed in the pitch black and trudging to work in polar gear for three months
> everyone is a bit autistic and slightly depressed by spring
> everything is expensive esp if you live near Reykjavík. Bring lots of cash or have an offer first
> rental market is fricked by Airbnb
> you’ll always be foreign but you will be accepted if you can hack simple sentences together in Icelandic. It can be learnt. This is vs Norway where it is 10x harder to integrate as a foreigner even with great Norwegian
> summer is short but wonderful
> Icelanders once you get to know them are friendly and fun especially if you like outdoorsy things
> you’ll eventually hate tourists as much as Icelanders do. Can’t drive, can’t dress for the conditions, crowd the same spots, screw with housing, resources expended on protecting them from themselves. Fricking morons all of them
> alcohol has a weird monopoly distributor which I never got used to
Winters got too much for me in the end but glad I went there
Very interesting, but how's the cooming?
as if Iceland wants your depressed ass. Must be Murrican, thinking you can just go to any country and they will roll out the red carpet.
Why you think that anyone wants you there, iceland doesnt need another american to spoil their country.
